- In this video I show you have to repair your worn out center driveshaft bearing for free.
Check out the Update Video after the repair: • UPDATE: VW Touareg Dri...
I carried this procedure out on my 2008 V6 TDI the other day. I took it for a test run yesterday, a 100mile round trip on both motorway and A roads, and it's so far so good! £50 versus £2000... Thank you so much!
I did struggle to shave off the degraded hard rubber, not so much from the bearing but inside the ring bracket and because of that it meant I needed to break apart the hose ring I'd made into smaller pieces, so I could squeeze into place. I think I ended up with a 3 and a 2 piece and a couple of single pieces and held it all together with the ties. Once I'd got them all into place, it was in the there nice and solid with no movement whatsoever. Thanks again for sharing this workaround! 😁😁🙌🙌
Just completed this procedure on my 2008 Touareg 3.6L. The knocking is gone and its running great. I do plan to replace the entire drive shaft assembly but so far it is an excellent temporary solution to what was a $1000+ problem. Thanks for the tips!
Hello, I fallowed your video, it was awesome! Thank you 🙏 now my car is great.
OMG worked soo well, up to 200 miles. Not going to leave it too long before doing a permanent fix.
Thanks, man! You saved me 2 thousand bucks!! Greetings from Portugal.
Thank you very much for the video, thanks to you I was able to fix my truck, it is a VW Touareg v6 Gasolina, saludos desde España.
Hey man I just finished up the same exact job you did on my 2005 Touareg v6 and she feels great I mean perfect and I also have a short 30 second video proof of the free repair also if you or anyone would like to see!!!
I would like to see it
I'd like to see it too. How is it holding up after one year? I just got this problem today sadly
Thank you for this video! This just saved my ass!! 2 hour fix.. $15!! 07 touareg
thanks a lot! i have a 2005 and this knocking sound came out of nowhere now i know what it is and how to fix it
Just finished the job i found if you zip tie the hose flat it helps so much getting it all in there just cut the zip tie at the end but other than that it was fairly simple
This fix done it for me garage quoted me £1500
I watched this video and decided to have a go are use 13 mm high-pressure gas hose I had to use more pieces but it’s harder wearing I’m 1000 miles into this but working fine
Brilliant solution, although I'm not so sure how "permanent" it would be. I've read about it on the ClubTouareg forum, however when the rubber support on my 2009 Touareg went, I just went ahead and bought a replacement bearing and had that installed. Not free, but a fairly cheap and easy fix.
I agree. Temporary fix but it defiantly works.
Very nice job
Better than new!!
Just bought the 5/8 heater hose, local shop quoted me $370 for the center bearing part and $525 for labor, $938 total. I’ll update later
😊😊😊dzięki już z tobą naprawiłem szybę zamek a teraz podporę wału .dzięki tobie moje v8 lata 😊😊😊
Man thank you I've been replacing everything on this POS lol just spent 10 hours and 500$ replacing the CV joints
No....An easier way is to simply clean the rubber that left off, fill the bearing casing with high strength black silicon ensuring the tail shaft is centered and leave to dry for several days. The rubber is effectively replaced and will probably outlast a factory part
Hello,greatings from Norway ;)
Have same problem so i wondering how you still going.
I Hope that stil is on place and hold
Hey man, I was actually just going to do an update video. Should be out in the next couple of days.
Ha done exacly the same on mine but havnt had a chance to test yet! Really tight fit. Still chasing oil leaks on the V10 🧐
How is it now
@@blessedone1525 man alive I've still not got it on the road. Its pissing me off now and the fact I've got a second car and van kinda on the back burner. The fix is damn tight though I would expect it to last as long as the bearing will.
Thanks
Hey do u know if that fix will work on a 2012 toureg tdi exectutive model. My friend told me my center carrier bearing is gone and apparently you cant just replace it without replacing the entire drive shaft. I cannot afford to fix it with volkswagon. I love my toureg. But it seems like one thing after another.
Yes, it’s is the same on a newer Touareg. This is kind of a temporary fix. Find an independent European repair shop. A lot cheaper than the dealership.
Thanks for the great video
Can u let us know how long imthis fix will last?
I am not sure. I have seem some people say they have done this fix and it has lasted 1-2 years and still going.
I did it on mine before 7 month, drove aprox. 12k-15k km, now the bearing itself starts to make some loud noises, so decided to replace it with replacement bearing. As an temporary solution it works, but if the bearing is already "old", not worth to do it.
I've done exactly the same thing on my '06 3.0 V6 TDI - BKS and it's still grand after 20k km. Thanks for this video, mate!
what do y do for P0430, Catalyst Converter low efficiency bank 1 or 2, fist time light turned on at my V6 gas Touareg at 245K and later on its gone , so far drivers amazing.
Did the warning light ever come on again? Mine has the same warning and i dont know what to do with it.
Josh hey bro do you need to add EUREA to the 09 V6 TDI?
Yes I do. DEF. Seems to use more in the summer. Not that big of a deal.
Another great video Josh! Is the bering just a wear and tear part or is it like a very common problem on the v6 tdi?
Yes it is. Super common on these Touareg as well as the Porsche Cayenne. Seems like they go bad every 50K miles or so.
I have just carried this out on my 2007n 3L V6 TDI. Appears to have workeed well. Runs smooth and no movement. Had the car up to 85mph (2500 to 3000 revs) No Issues. Any chance the tubes canm slide off the bearing?
what sockets do you use? Im trying to repair it myself but dont know much about sockets and wrench sizes. @juanclague3813
Bro can you make a video using vcd and getting more features using coding
Abdul Nasser Lawi I don’t know much about doing that. Let me see what my other scanner can do.
Mine just went! I'll be trying this fix and will report my results but I am optimistic...
So what was your results??
@@wesleyk.8376 9 months and still going strong!
Man I have the same problem same car year color and all but I was thinking it would be a lot safer just replacing the whole drive shaft n the part is actually affordable look at these vid on how to change it n I did with no experience
good looking out, i just looked up a whole driveshaft on ebay and thats probably the route i'll go. I started feeling a vibration in the seat at around 50, my 2006 is mostly untouched and it probably needs it
Not certain I’d be comfortable with that if I needed to travel far from home but it will be interesting to see.
I'm with you. We will see how it goes.
Spotted Euros: Ha! I’m on Carfax looking for another Touareg TDI right now!!
c5back9 nice man! What kind of Touareg are you looking for?
Spotted Euros: sold my 2012 Sport TDI back to VW under dieselgate two years ago now and have missed it ever since. Have been driving a Silverado 4x4 and hating it. I’m old and not too good at crawling under cars to fix them anymore so I’m looking at a few that are now being refurbished by VW and sold at auction. They come with a good warranty from the factory that’s what I think I want.
Sorry correction... not some that are being refurbed and auctioned. Some that have completed that process and are at dealers being offered for sale.
Nice
I have a 2016 that has the same problem.
This is the same for the Porsche Cayenne. You only need 8 pieces of hose though, not 9
it have vibration and bad sound on my touareg :/
What diameter of heater hose
I want to say it was 5/8th hose. Pretty standard size I guess.
Hi, what is messeaures of ruber is 1/2 inch?
It’s 5/8 inch, shows it in video, you just have to look closely
@@wesleyk.8376 thank you so much my friend
I want to know how many miles until this fails.
This is the same "Jimi" fix for a 957 Cayenne. Has hundreds of folks with 10's of thousands of miles with this "temporary solution". I did this past weekend on mine, but will be ordering an actual aftermarket bearing support if and when this fails i'll be ready
My centre bearing just went out. All o can say if you intent driving the car for many more years like me rather buy the complete new drive shaft.
Today I got probably same problem but not still sure. I feel strong vibration from back of the car when accelerate hard . had to tow car to mechanic . it happened at 244k .
Yea maybe. The driveshaft bearing causes a vibration more in the center of the car. Hard to tell sometimes though. 244k mikes is an accomplishment. Which engine and year?
@@spottedeuros1529 07 , v6 gas 3.6. yesterday drove to Quebec and back got 920km of full tank ( never done before test like this ) and still did not run out of gas made stop on gas station. No any symptoms at all yesterday for problem that happened today.
Nice man! Yea, that’s weird. Let me know what ends up being the problem.
@@spottedeuros1529 mechanic confirmed drive shaft bearing. I am getting part from Germanparts.ca 168$cad. MEYLE part.
Bet you can't fix that crack in the windshield for free???...LOL
Dang windshields aren't really DIY.
Yip fix will outlast the original part by a long way
Colin Kensley we will see. I may end up swapping out the drive shaft for peace of mind.
@@spottedeuros1529 most likely a good fix for local commutes but if you do long hauls I agree peace of mind may be the way to go. Good video.
Молодец норм 👍
Totally Shit this is repaired like in Africa
