I recently rediscovered this channel, I wanted to say that your HK videos were always some of my favourites, but not because they were HK. It was the way they were made and they had a type of charm to them that I enjoyed. I hope you come back one day and make more videos, but I'm happy you prioritized your mental health over videos. I can certainly relate to falling out of love with Hollow Knight, and while I still enojy games, I do relate alot to feeling burnt out on things you used to enjoy. I hope that you keep doing what you enjoy doing and I look forward to seeing what you do next!

Haven’t checked in with this channel in a long time and I’m probably late to this video but I’ll leave my thoughts anyway. Burnout is such a real struggle and I feel you made the right move by just stepping away from the channel. Although HK is what this channel may have been originally built on it doesn’t have to stay that way. Do what you feel is the best for your health and happiness, you will have some who continue to stick around. As a software engineer myself, I would say that your use of "softlock" was exactly correct. A "hardlock" (or more commonly, "deadlock") typically refers to a scenario where the program is completely frozen and non-responsive, while "softlock" refers to a situation where the program is responsive, but it is impossible to make progress.

Also wait ok- idk how much you know about the current state of hk challenge running but if you do have knowledge about it, I’m assuming shriek pogo was discovered after clawless was made possible with downpatching, does shriek pogo affect clawless? Or is it not possible to get shriek clawless? I remember you mentioning using shriek to get the deepnest masks up to beasts den as an idea in the final video on the matter so I’d assume it is possible to get shriek..

The HK burnout and content burnout are both very real. It can be pretty taxing and I can imagine especially so with a larger audience. Hope you rest at ease somewhat now.

Wow, this video hit REALLY close to home. As a trans girl who also got burned out from hollow knight for years, dealt with depression and anxiety and the stress of struggling with university and using games to deflect away having to think about anything. I'm not sure how long it will be before I can truly start my "journey" but after getting burnout from hollow knight, I've now moved onto Ultros, a game I can definitely recommend trying out. Also on softlocks, there is no agreed upon terminology! I always reserve hardlock for "losing control of character completely" and then temporary or permanent as a separate thing.
