After reading some of the comments, I have discovered a way to escape using spell twister. However, its very difficult and if you mess up once you would be softlocked

The thing is you dont get spell twister, when you say its possible with spell twister it feels like saying Elder Baldur is possible with vengeful spirit

In a similar manner you can grab a couple soul vessels(possibly 3) and make this escapable if you first try it

It's easy to escape this softlock. Make sure when you get to the bench in the Ancient Basin to equip wayward compass
here's an easy way to get softlocked. play a randomiser. try your hardest to not get softlocked. congratz, you got soflocked.
yeah you need benchwarp for randomizers for a reason.
The true randomizer experience is getting the last room of Path of Pain within the first 10 rooms (happened to me). Never noped out so fast.

Would be cool if Team Cherry updates the game so that Quirrel would help us get out like Hornet did when the Wyrm corpse collapses.

Escape ending:Quirrel sees that you can't escape and sacrifices himself, jumping into the acid and making you able to jump on him and dash to get out of there, but...at what cost?

It's kinda crazy how in this massive game, there are only 2 game breaking glitches, excluding mods, of course. Even then, this may be bc I've been playing Hollow Knight for about 100 hours now, but getting your save file deleted really isn't even a big deal to me

People brought up that you can escape with spell twister, so I figure I’ll bring up another easy escape method: getting dreamgate and placing it beforehand. I mean, it wasn’t forbidden in the rules, but also is kind of ruining the whole point of trying to get softlocked. I guess you could place the dreamgate in the softlock area though.
yeah spell twister isnt really an escape
Even with dreamgate, if you somehow spend hours wasting all your essence, you can't teleport to the dream gate anymore. The only way to get more essence there is to kill the jellyfish, which im not even sure if they drop essence

I’m a bit late to the party but lately the only Hollow Knight content that RUclips decides to recommend to me is yours for whatever reason.

finally, found a way to stop quirrel's suicide
also if you had soul twister you could overcharm before hand and then you could maybe use one VS pushing the opposite direction and then delaying the double jump as long as you can maybe you could escape but I highly doubt it
Maybe, but dreamers might reset soul. Im not 100% sure that they do that though.
Easiest way to escape this is simply getting dreamgate, c-dash or isma’s beforehand

@Steven Victor Neiman what are the much easier ways to set up an escape? dreamgate does lose quite a bit of time to get that if thats what you’re referring to

Oh yeah I got softlocked there casually when I was going for the 5 hour speedrun achievement. Well not really casually since I was using NMMS tech (back when it was called NSOoB). I got there using fireball storage and then I quit out, forgetting about the hard save that’s there.

Quirrel can't die if you lock yourself inside with him forever. I see no problems with this.

If you miraculously got through white palace without c-dash, you could use kingsoul, but that's impossible as far as we know. could be possible in a randomizer run

technically you can use twister or grubsong but if you fail you’re stuck forever

You could use Kingsoul get soul while in the soft lock and do a fireball skip (may need to overcharm)
Edit: also the quality of this kind of caught me off guard. Underrated.
you cant get kingsoul without cdash (final room of white palace)
When I was a beginner and tried to softlock myself on purpose, I actually fell into the acid on purpose thinking it was a step. Now I watch this video again, and I realize it was just a joke.

I have an idea for a softlock, but am uncertain if it works... it would involve doing a shadeskip in mantis village to access the mantis lords level before actually collecting claw

You can use wall cling storage. You are bound to get one for sure

someone could legitimately do this during a run and be softlocked on their first ever file. crazy, but not impossible
i doubt someone would do the ancient basin shade skip on their first playthrough. but i could see this happening to someone doing a challenge run

if you have monarch wings ( unless you did the shade skip) then you have crystal dash, so you can get out, or if you have ismas
you can do a shade skip to get wings without crystal heart. i show it in the video

its a very precise jump but its barely possible to clip the other side of that wall on the left side

Hard locking. Soft locking means it’s impossible to get out of your position but you can just quit out. Hardlock
in the hollow knight community it’s known as a softlock
wall cling storage to get out?
If you had your shade you could dream nail it for soll( I can’t spell) and do a fireball skip.
But you don’t have it
dreamnailing your shade kills it
The only way to get out of this would be the wallclingstorage (I have no idea how to spell this) like the TAS in the TAS any%

@@FIREOWLHK it does work, but it has limitations and isnt even frame perfect, it's gotta be a frame of a frame perfect. It's been done

how to escape softlock: step one:get scarab and download mods. Step two: get debug mod. Step three: cry because you can't figure out how to download hive knight skin. Step four: use debug mod to escape softlock

but the entire point is that we didn’t get dreamgate therefore that isn’t a valid escape
You could escape with dreamgate, but that would kinda ruin the whole point of softlocking yourself
well you could just softlock yourself without dreamgate so technically its not a way to escape
