Indie and Big 4 Sewing Patterns Haul
This was a handy video as when I bought the patter the directions were missing from the envelope on the v-neck. I just wish you showed more of the tutorial on sewing the v-neck. Mine is not right and I followed your directions. My v-neck is sticking out on the front ov the v. The ends of is are.
Something for the future, if the instructions are not included you can always reach out to Simplicity.com and they will send them to you. Tell me more where you need help. For this V neck I folded one on top of each other. It's the quickest way to do it. For the usual way (as shown in the instructions) you sew the neckband on a V and clip the seam allowance close to the point on the V, then cut the front into an inverted V into the dress, for someone who doesn't sew a lot it can be tricky but perhaps I should do one video with it and really take my time on this so you feel confident to tackle this on your own next time.
@@MassonLifestyle right at the v part I don't understand how to overlap with the fold. my rough end are sticking out. i can;t find another video like this to figure out how to fix it.
Hi. Thanks for tutorial. I noticed that step 20 is where instructions for view C and D start. It has you sew contrast bodice back and front pieces 8 and 9 together first (as self facing) Did you purposely miss out this step? I think someone already mentioned about interfacing, this (extra pieces 8 and 9) is what is marked on pattern layout as interfacing. Thanks.
Great explications👍👍👍👍👍 I finally understand the burrito method. Thankyou😊 Nathalie
Thank you so much for your explanation of the collar I couldn't have finished this without it. X
Thank you! I just finished my first patterned sewing project because of this video and your help. It turned out great!
@@axtmanlaura So happy to read this! It is a nice little pattern and very useful.
Thank you for making this video. I have this pattern and I will start sewing this shirt tomorrow. Thank you for all your hard work to teach new sewers (?)... like me. Update: I made this blouse, and It is lovely. I had to sacrifie a little on the sleeves, those are massive and they take up a lot of fabric. I am now sewing this pattern again in a different color, this time I will have to sacrifice the neck ribbon, I'm going to have to find a way to make it smaller. But this is such a good pattern that it is worth it.
Thanks so much for making this video!! I was so confused when I got to the collar part of the pattern. You saved me 🎉
I just bought this pattern and mine also has the wrong size band piece.
What a bummer and two years later and they haven't fixed it! The good news is that it's one of those things that you can shorten or lengthen. If I were you (now that I've gone thru it) don't cut that pattern piece until you need it! IF You have some time, reach out to the folks at Simplicity.com to see if they can send you the correct pattern piece. They do reply and will send it to you!
I've been trying to resist buying patterns because I have so many I haven't used yet, but you're making it hard with this batch - I love them all! Nice fabrics, too, and easy summer sewing is the best!
I have been resisting buying new fabric. One week down..... an entire year to go.
@@MassonLifestyle 🤣!!! Yeah, me, too - it works best when I don't go in a store or look online! But I'm not going to give up watching videos and a lot of vloggers like yourself are trying to sew their stash so I have company 😀!
Enjoyed your video very much! I have been using the Burda 7136 , my favourite shirt pattern for years , have made at least a dozen versions. Careful measuring of myself and comparing to the pattern and it always works out well. Have fun!
So happy to hear you like this pattern! I need to cut it out, try it I’m sure I will have to make some adjustments and go from there.
Great video!!! I ❤Vogue fabrics. I love as just there over the weekend. They had some beautiful Italian silk and tie dye Batik’s at reasonable prices.
I love your videos m, inspired by your choices.
Thank you for sale heads up 👍you got nice patterns n beautiful fabrics
Thanks for sharing! Love your pattern choices and fabric ❤. Im banned from buying patterns and fabric til I use up what I have😅. I absolutely love Vogue fabrics. They use to come to the Sew Expo in my area but they no longer do it after covid😢.
Love your videos 👍. What is the name of that French website where you got the free pattern for a vest ?
Maison Fauvre
This was such a helpful video Alex. Thanks for this!
I never made a swimsuit. You have encouraged me. Love your swimsuit, the colors are gorgeous. Great video
You really should make one, especially since you go check out all those amazing locations for your clients.
Burda 6207 looks like a dress Loreli wore on GILMORE GIRLS
Never watched the series, but my dress turned out quite nice. I actually have to take pictures and post them.
Omg thank you. I found this pattern a bit confusing with the interfacing. It is my first time wking with this type of material. Your friendly style of teaching made it less frightening. Plus you look great in the dress. Jill B.
You can do it Jill! Just take your time.
great ideas!
Fantastic suggestions Alex!!! I always have pieces of fabric leftover so this is helpful
Great suggestions! More blouses please!😊
Blouses are a tough one with one yard of fabric when we throw in the sleeves but I promise to keep looking.
Sorry - I didn’t explain myself! I meant to ask for your thoughts on blouses generally - any amount of fabric! I absolutely love the Franklin pattern! Can’t wait to try it! Thank you!
@@moira7083 please do!!!!!! The finishes on it really elevate the look.
I make hinge frame victorian purses using a coffee can for making the pattern. If you use velvet upholstery fabric they turn out very pretty. Also camisoles can be made with only a yard. And ribbon or lace can really jazz them up or extend your fabric.
I agree with the velvet upholstery. I usually don't care for the makeup cases I see in stores and the three I made with the dark blue velvet upholstery fabric are my favorite. I have enough room, they feel luxurious and I made them!!! Adding ribbon and lace... that is another great idea!
Can you make this dress with a stretch fabric and skip the zip? Also, is it easy to lengthen the skirt so it’s longer? Thank you!
You could, yes. I don’t know how the sleeves would look (as in pouffiness) but yes you could make it in a stretch fabric and skip the zip altogether. Just don’t cut the skirt on the bias as you would with a woven. Cut it with the cross grain so you get the most amount of stretch from the knit vs. on the grainline.
Couldn't understand the pattern directions and you made it magically work. Thank you!
Can you link the video tutorials you mentioned? Thanks loved the first video in the series this one is just as good.
Thanks for the reminder to do this. I just listed them both. Let me know if I'm missing any.
Love your videos.
Thank you for this. More like this please I loved it xxxx
Love the detailed info you provided. This Spring I’ve been making baby rompers for gifts, and to stretch my theme-based fabric to include a matching bib, started cutting patterns on a single piece of fabric versus on the fold. Amazed at how that can really stretch the fabric. I really like that first t-shirt pattern you mentioned-love a back seam since it helps with my fitting issues. Thanks again for presenting this topic.
Great video Vogue has the best remnants 😁
Their remnants area is so big it’s almost overwhelming!!!!!
My favorite kind of video! Thanks so much!
Hey! Your link is broken.
Thank you and it's been updated!
Hi Alex! This was a great video. I am a larger lady and require a little bit more than a yard of fabric, but I can still take advantage of some of the choices you used to share with us today! Have a blessed day, my friend.
Hoping it gives you a few ideas on some great patterns you can make.
my pattern does not have directions to finish off the 'flap' the self facing, and I see you surged yours, but you don't show when or how to finish it off, the raw edge. I have contacted the pattern company and my pattern is missing 'darts', the FACING section in the instructions and you skipped over this in the video. I am glad I found your video. You did a good job explaining other steps. I am able to 'make it work'. I will be watching for more on other sewing projects.
Hello and tks for your great video you are gifted to teach . I have made a big progress and have one question : what should I do at the back center seam after stitch both sides together? like the seam remains like not right or left. Can I topstich both of them open? I working in a modal knit and it does not lay flat. tks a lot for your help.
You can always press it open and top stitch it is the easiest. You can also cut one seam allowance to 3/8" (or 1cm) press them both to one side (with the smallest seam allowance at the bottom of it) and then stop stitch. Remember this will be on your back so make sure it's comfortable to wear.
@@MassonLifestyle Tks so much. So far everything is great. I believe this is the first time I did something so fast and perfect! Tks to you of course!
Ok I just got a kam snap everytime I use it I question my intelligence lol
Thank you! I appreciate this tutorial.
That video was very helpful for making the bag. Thank you for posting! ❤
So helpfull to me that not know much. You gave me such an encouragement tks a lot.
You can do it!
