About Simplicity 6175 view E. My mother made this for me for a special event at church when I was 13 years old. I am 70 now. But I don't remember that she used a pattern. You have made a really fun video. Thanks.

Great choices. I started holding on to my remnants for either clothing or pillows. Thanks for posting.

Thanks for this video. Very motivational. Reminding us we don’t need to always delve into a multi-yard project. I, too, do a $5 remnant dance whenever I can😊.

Thanks! I always check that remnant bin. Just picked up a solid yard of nice stretch denim, enough for a skirt or shorts for me. Hope your cool is going well, I’m an old coder from back in the Fortran and COBOL mainframe days…..😂😂😂😂

Wow I learned Fortran in college, I’m so sad that I didn’t keep going and COBOL… thats what the banking world still uses. I’m enjoying it but its for sure not easy when it all starts getting super complicated but I think the end result is I get to create something and that part I’m really enjoying. And cheers for the remnant bin. There is always something good there.

Thank you! Really enjoyed this. I love when you do the suggestions for 1/2 yard, 1 yard, etc. I also like your patterns, I happen to have a lot of them. Thanks again for doing this!

Definitely one of my favorite videos. Love that you try to have a frugal theme as sewing can get pricey! 😅

A solid choice if you are like me and have a remnants stash with lots of 50cm bits is to pick a pattern by the matchy matchy sewing club and colour/pattern block, they've been growing over the last 6 months and have a decent range of patterns now.

Yes I’ve been getting a lot of remnants even from the things Ive used and I really want to make sure I use every single usable piece of fabric.

Great job Alex. I really like that these are not the patterns we seem to see all the time! I'm kicking myself for not grabbing that same white embroidered cotton. I saw it and couldn't think of what I'd make with it. Next time I'll be ready ! 😊 I have gone through my patterns on Trello and made lists of my 1 and 2 yard patterns.

I think the white cotton is still around, perhaps wait until it goes on sale. I’m sure there will be an end of summer sale soon.

Regarding McCalls 7386, I have made the maxi dress, a knee length dress, and four tank tops. This pattern is definitely a tried-and-true for me!

I am in the middle of ironing a few of my recent remnants!! Great timing! What is it about buying remnants!!

LOL, when you casually pass this area and see the pricey fabric at 75% discount and 1.25 yards you tell yourself "you need to grab that". I've found linen, rayon crepe, or even rayon twill. All on remnants. And Style maker Fabrics has a "selvedge yard" not quite remnant amounts but I love a good discount and long yardage.

@@MassonLifestyle Wow that’s cool! Thanks for the pattern suggestions! Love a remnant! Picked up a gorgeous one On holiday in Spain last week, 1 metre viscose crepe for 9 euros! Bargain!

I love that you are learning to code. I am a software engineer instructor and I teach 15wk courses!
I am also a Remnant Queen! There is a huge fabric store here in the DMV called G Street Fabrics and I DIVE into their remnants/deadstock whenever I go. I also love A Thrifty Notion and Measure Made for shopping online for deadstock fabrics.
As far as patterns, I like the Pietra shorts for remnants and the 100 Acts of Sewing Shirt No. 1 for tops. Those two are TNT for me.

Yes coding is feeling somewhat challenging now, I got to the challenging parts but crazy enough today out of all days I found a coding buddy… all the way in Egypt and we are willing to help each other out which is the one thing I was missing because I had so many people that I always studied with in engineering way back when. So it’s always nice to have someone else to help and ask for help when I’m stuck. What coding language do you teach? There are so many! I feel like you learn one and learn the concepts … and then the others feel a little easier because you know what you are asking the code to do. Its all those ; { [ that trip me up!
Looks like I met another Remnant Queen… today’s find was a yard of the most beautiful olive green cupro twill. Just in time for fall. I may make a simple skirt with it that I can wear with an ivory or navy blue sweater. Thanks for the info on those stores and the patterns. I wear the piedra shorts to walk every morning so thanks for the reminder to make myself a new pair.
