Your choices of colors are spot on. I don’t try to match colors exactly all the time. Your print has so many colors that having slightly different hues will work well. Good luck with your capsule. I will follow along and hopefully see your creations as you make them.
Hi there! Thank you so much for leaving this sweet comment. I appreciate the encouragement. I’m so glad you enjoyed this video and I’d love to hear your thoughts as you watch through the following videos showing off each of the capsule pieces. Hope you have a great week!
I love your color choices and patterns. I have a loose plan for my sewing this year, but am no where near as organized as this. I'm looking forward to seeing the entire capsule made up.
Thank you for sharing. I think your colours go together beautifully. I look forward to watching your capsule evolve. I love capsules and like you I can spend more time planning and dreaming than actually sewing.
Great plan and I look forward to seeing the capsule come together. I have been using the capsule concept since the late 80’s for buying and planning my wardrobe. Now that I am sewing more it just makes sense to do the same. I can really relate to your comment about watching less RUclips and sewing more 😂😂😂
Hi Amy, thanks so much for stopping by and for your very nice comment!! So cool that you've been into capsules for a little while now. My sewing has slowed down due to garden season ramping up (it takes over my life pretty much during April and May!) and I'm now working on piece #5 of the capsule. Loved hearing from you!
Hey Angela! Finally getting caught on on watching videos. 😂 I agree...planning is the fun part. The work begins after that. You got some some good things in store. Love love the foundation fabric. Gorge! I'm excited to see you work your way through your capsule! Take care!
I love your color scheme! I've always been amazed at what outfits people can put together by combining their clothing items in different ways. I don't sew with that in mind -- yet! But when I pack to travel, I pack with that sort of theme in mind. I guess my wardrobe has just always worked that way. Have a great week!
Thanks Deb! I am the same - always have packed that way for traveling and only in recent years started thinking that way in terms of my overall closet. Glad you enjoyed!
Your choice of print to start as a base is smart. Love all the colors and how you paired them with the patterns. Can’t wait to see the result. It would be nice to see a video with all your capsule items. I’ll be doing this next year as this year I’m sewing projects that increase my skills - I’m still new 😊
Hi there! Thanks so much for your sweet comment. I will definitely do a video when I'm finished with all the pieces (will be a while though), maybe modeling the different ways to mix and match the pieces. I"m looking forward to that!
I really like your methodology! I'm at the beginning of sewing my capsule wardrobe myself, and I'll try to incorporate some of your technics in my process) Thank you for the video, I'm glad I've stumbled upon it)
Thanks so much, Tlean! I'm glad it was helpful and I'm excited for your capsule too. I think it'll be a fun process for each of us. Hope your week is going well!
Thanks so much for watching! I'll have a video out tomorrow or Weds with my starting yardage and my "rules" for what I'm calling #stashsewdown. Maybe that will be helpful! At least it's good to know we're not alone 😂😊
Thanks so much! I appreciate you stopping by and commenting. 😊 I'd love to know if you end up making a capsule and which patterns you choose - how fun!!
Hello, Angela, wow, this is so impressive! I’m so excited to follow along on this journey with you. I love your color scheme, it goes so beautifully with your coloring. This is tempting me to look into capsule wardrobes! Thanks so much for sharing! Happy Sewing❤~Tiffany
I love, love, love the colours that your have chosen. I too would like to try and do a capsule wardrobe but wouldn't know where to start. You have given me such inspiration and hope (as I too am not a speedy sewer). Thanks for your wonderful vlog
Aww, thank you so much for this sweet comment, made my heart happy and I'm so glad that you found the video helpful. I would love to hear if you end up putting together a capsule!
You make me want to put together a capsule wardrobe. It will help me to center on what I want to make, instead of feeling overwhelmed by all the fabric and patterns. I think the blue rib knit will go well with the print because the blue is a neutral.
I have quilted for years and just started garment sewing. I plan to do a capsule wardrobe possibly 2024. I agree with you, some of the fun is organizing and planning. So many possibilities. I enjoyed watching your video.
Hi Kimberly, thanks so much for watching and commenting! Hope you have fun with your garment sewing ☺️ I go back and forth between quilting and garments.
You are so organized! So smart to start with a fabulous print to help define your color scheme. I really like the many different fabric types and textures you are using! I haven’t made a capsule before, but you’ve got me really excited thinking about it! Usually if I make 2 pieces that go together I’m impressed with myself 😂
LOL!! Me too- two coordinating pieces is a big deal in my sewing world. This capsule is a challenge I've issued to myself and finishing all the pieces will be an accomplishment. Was such fun to plan!
I think your fabric and your choices are spot on. I am in the process of doing something similar in a history bounding direction with my stash, which I am just trying to launder and sort after being flooded out in the early hours of new years day - some are irrevocably stained with mould but , hey! Mock ups! I will be following with interest! Maybe I'll film my progress too....🤔
Hi Mandy! That sounds like a very fun project. So sorry to hear about the flooding and hopefully not too much was lost. I think you should definitely film your history based capsule!
I sort of made a capsule last summer, but I didn't actually call it that. I bought a bunch of knits on sale that all matched each other and made 3 tops and 3 pencil skirts that are all mix & match. I want to do a more cohesive capsule this year and I love the idea of planning it all around a single print.
Hi Karen, thanks so much! I'm glad it was helpful. Maybe you could find a print that goes well with the pieces you've already made. Or start fresh with a new capsule! It's all so fun, isn't it? Hope you have a great week!
Great plans for a capsule wardrobe. I love the print fabric that you are using as the base for it. I enjoy the planning more than the sewing, especally going through my fabric and patterns stashes. I have done many Capsule wardrobes starting back in 2007 when we called it SWAP - Sewing with a Plan, a process that started with an article from the long defunct Australian Stiches sewing magazine. There was online sharing of SWAP story boards and contests. It was a lot of fun and if you stick with it you end up with a wonderful wardrobe of flattering garments.
Hi Audrey! Love the idea of SWAP - how fun! I agree with you - for me the planning is actually more fun than the sewing. Thanks so much for watching and sharing your thoughts. Hope your new year is off to a great start!
Hi, I am working towards making my own capsule wardrobe but first trying to find my tnt patterns. I enjoyed your video and it has motivated me further. Thank you. Lee
Thank you for sharing this video. I really like your thought process. I tend to buy all prints and then don't have any solids to coordinate. this inspired me!!
Hi Sharon, I'm so glad it was helpful! Prints are the most fun to buy, aren't they?! I'm slowly learning to make more practical purchases when it comes to fabric 😂😂
Great plans and look forward to the results! I'm very good at planning but it doesn't always turn out. but I don't really mind because you have to have a plan!
Thank you! I ended up doing 8 of the 10 pieces and calling it a day, as my attention span just couldn't hold out and i wanted to move on to other things. There is a whole playlist on the channel with a video about each finished make if you're interested 😊
This is my first time watching your channel. I too am not a fast sewist! And I also watch Tomkat Stitchery! I’ve been working toward a capsule wardrobe but it does take planning for a sewist. I hope to have an actual one for summer. Your colors are similar to mine, calm autumn. PDF patterns have been my favorites since I discovered them. Excited to see your progress!
I absolutely love your fabric choices, they all coordinate so well! I've just found you on You Tube (being a capsule wardrobe sewist myself) and have subscribed, you have a beautiful soothing voice!
Welcome aboard! Thanks so much for subscribing and for your sweet comment. I see that you have a channel and I'm excited to check out your videos very soon (ie I wish I wasn't on my way out the door to work or I'd do it right this minute, lol). Hope you have a great week!

I plan my seasonal sewing too. I use the free Mood Fabric Planner and print line drawings from the patterns (I don’t want to draw/sketch). I’ve been doing this every season for many years now
Very inspiring! I do wish you would hold up the patterns long enough for us to actually see them, and even turn them around so we can see the line drawings.
I totally can relate to that! Part of the fun of this project for me was the planning itself. Then I took my time making all the items (or most of them at least) over the course of the year. Perhaps you can spend some time just dreaming of what you'll make later. I just love doing that and it's a small way of keeping the creativity alive. Thank you so much for watching this video and commenting. I appreciate you!
Angela your fabrics coordinate well. I look forward to seeing the final makes. I coordinate what I have in my closet. I made a vest about two years ago out of African print fabric. I coordinate the vest with a brown skirt. Great video and great ideas.
I can’t wait to see it when it’s done in June! I’ve done this kind of thing, mostly when I was young, because I didn’t have a lot of money. I think your capsul looks great❤
I absolutely love this - the colours and fabrics you chose are going to be fabulous together! I tried to do complete capsules before but I got bored before completing them LOL
Great video! Love seeing your process putting this capsule together. I've just done something similar which I'll be posting on my channel in a few days. I also watch Whitney from TomKat Stitchery and get such a lot from her channel, she really is amazing. So awesome! I'm really excited about my wardrobe makes and I see you are too.... good luck to us both!🧵🪡🧥👗
Hi! I added links in the description box to the Etsy store where I got the print and to the color analyst that did my analysis. Her name is Anni Wickham, she was great to work with. Thanks for watching!
I'm a soft autumn able to "borrow" a lot of colors from soft summer. When I had my analysis done, my hair was more of an ashy blonde and my true hair color is a medium ash brown. I think since my hair has had this red tint for the past several months, I definitely lean more into the autumn colors.
Hi Gina, it's intended to be a winter capsule, but because I tend to be a slow sewist I'll probably be working on the pieces into the summer even though they may not be worn in the summer (all those long sleeves). They'll be ready for me by fall and I think the colors will work for fall as well as winter. And of course, I will wear them for years to come. I don't let go of clothes very quickly, always wanting to get the most out of them. Hope that made sense! 😊
Hi Angela, I love Challis fabric but hesitate to buy the rayon Challis because I heard it shrinks terribly. It is hard to find poly Challis so I was wondering if you sewed a lot with the rayon type and what your opinion on the shrinkage is. This is a great video by the way!
Thank you so much! I have found that rayon challis does shrink somewhat but oddly enough I've never measured the amount of shrinkage. Since you've brought up this very interesting question, I will measure this print I'm using for the capsule before I start cutting to get an idea of how much it shrank since I've already washed and dried the piece. I am in the habit of always prewashing/drying my fabric and sometimes buying 1/4 yd extra when needed to account for shrinkage and any errors in the patterns (or my own errors), and I usually don't have issues with not having enough yardage.
@@JustMeAndMyFabric That would be interesting to know. My concern with the rayon is if it continues to shrink after the garment is made and eventually wouldn't fit well. If it was just a minor amount in the prewash before construction, I might have a go at that fabric. I have a couple Challis in my stash but they are just poly w no rayon in them. I like the drape and feel of it I can't decide what to make with it. lol
Hi please hold the pattern in place without moving them,.I would like it you show pattern and number so we could read them , thank you for sharing thank you L
