Those pants are lovely-well worth the time to fix. Do you think that pattern style could be made shorter (midi-length) and work as a split-skirt? That might be something I try-easy style to wear when getting out of a car while looking like a skirt. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much! I'm so happy I changed out the elastic in the waistband. I wore them for Thanksgiving and got compliments (& maybe even a request for a custom-order pair for a friend). I think you could easily shorten them to a midi, and I may end up doing that for my own pair; I sometimes trip over them when wearing flats, they are kinda long. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment. Hope you have a great week ahead!
Dutch Label Shop
Thank you, Vanessa!
Happy Thanksgiving! Thanks for sharing your video!❤
Hi Zelda, same to you! Hope you're having a fantastic day!
Yes, the elastic issue. I've graduated to at least 1" elastic with a wider waistband.
Hi Donna, thanks for stopping by! I'm glad I'm not the only one, ha! Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment. ☺️
Happy Thanksgiving! I can’t wait to see your sundress turned into a cute summer dress to wear. As soon as I saw it I thought “I would wear that as a dress”. Glad you were able to fix your waistband. I only ever use non fold elastic, I hate it when the flimsy waistbands fold. I’m really excited to see your tips video.
Hi Sheila, Happy Thanksgiving!! Yes, the non-roll is working really well. Thanks so much for your sweet comment!
Happy Thanksgiving. Great video today.
Thanks so much, Diane! Happy Thanksgiving to you, too!
In particular, I found this video fascinating because you instructed the process so well I can relate to it! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks so much! I’m happy to hear that you found it useful. ☺️
I love the top/dress youre wearing. ❤ There are so many great 1990s patterns. I have a pleated skirt pattern from the 90s that i still use and a friend found a Kwik Sew coat pattern at a thrift shop in L.A. and bought it for me. ❤ The coat patterns from the 90s are great, sleek designs.
Thank you! It's a top that I found while thrifting. Love it when I score something so great. 90s patterns are the best. I might be biased because I was learning how to sew during the 90s, but so be it. ☺️ Very cool that your friend got you a pattern! That's a great friend. ☺️
Thanks they look great! Did not understand a couple of the instruction around the pocket corners and flap so thanks for showing those bits as now I get it! Thanks!
Hi there, so glad I could help! I appreciate your comment and hope your cargoes turned out great!
Hi Thank you for the review. Am putting in the waist band right now using your changes.
Hi there! Thank you for sharing this! I hope it works well for you. I'd love to know how it turns out. 😊
I pulled out a pile of clothes awaiting alterations last week - must be the season for this! I don't enjoy it, but it doesn't make sense to have things that aren't being worn, either, if they can be fixed to work. Congratulations on raising money to help with hurricane relief.
Thank you so much! Yes, it will feel good to get that pile squared away!
Hi Angela! I'm here to see what's happening in your sewing room!😅
Hi Zelda! Thanks so much for stopping by! Sadly there’s not too terribly much sewing going on these days but hoping to change that. Hope you are well!
Hi Angela! Congratulations on 3 years! Quite an undertaking to go back thru 3 years of videos looking for all the wonderful sewing tips shared! I have enjoyed all your past videos and am looking forward to future ones 🙂
Hi Michelle! Thank you so much! I appreciate your support over the years. 🙌🏻 💕 😊
3 years! How wonderful! 💕 I’d love to participate, and you can share my name, Angela. I don’t know if I’ve shared any tips in the past or what they may have been. 😂 I’ll put my thinking cap on! Love your pants! Wonder if you have enough space to put in another channel and use another piece of elastic in that channel. I’ve made waistbands with 3 channels of 3/8” elastic and they’re really comfortable. 😘 Sew with joy!
Hi Lynn! Thanks so much! I'll look forward to more of your wonderful tips. Love the idea for the pants and I'll have to take a closer look to see if that might be an option. Appreciate it! Hope you're having a good weekend.
Oh made in a Linen would make a great three season jacket.
Nice!! 👍🏻
Congratulations on 3 years!
Thank you!! 🥰🥰🥰
What a wonderful way to celebrate! Congratulations on 3 years already!
Thank you so much! ☺️
I own this book too, and I adore it.
So happy to hear this! It's definitely a fantastic book. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Angela! What a GREAT idea! I see how this can relieve some of the pressure to make, make, make especially when you already have and just need a few adjustments. Hats off to you! While this is not my kind of endeavor, I am cheering you on! Excited to see the journey! Love what you did with the cargos! Take care!
Hi Terri, thank you so much!! I appreciate the words of encouragement and hope you're doing well! ☺️💕🙌🏻
@@JustMeAndMyFabric Hi Angela! Thanks and yes...ALL is well! 🙏
I’d call that blue ‘bright navy.’
Yesss! That sounds perfect, thank you! 🥰
I have a rack of items that need altering too. I am short so I have quite a few pair of pants that need to be shortened. Thanks for the inspiration.
Hi Terry! Thanks for dropping by and I'm so happy to hear that the video was helpful for you. We'll get all these alterations done. 😊😊😊 Hope you're having a great weekend!
Lovely to see you we all have those garments that need attention i try to do one garment at a time have a great week 😊😊😊
Hi Robyn, thanks for stopping by! Somehow it's comforting to know I'm not the only one. 💕 Hope you're having a great weekend!
Hey Ang. So proud of you. What a great idea with the patterns to collect money for the hurricane victims! Love mom.
Thanks, Mom! It was fun to do the pattern sale and I'm happy I could help, even in a small way. Love you!
Hi Angela, glad you are back. I missed my sewing buddy and I really enjoy your videos. I also watch Evelyn Wood's videos and she came up with what she called "Mending Monday" where she does at least one mending/altering project each Monday. It has really helped me catch up and get things out of my mending basket.
Hi Cynthia, thank you so much. Your comment means so much to me! 💕 I'm happy you reminded me of Evelyn Wood, haven't visited her channel in quite a while. Love the idea of Mending Monday. Thanks for sharing and I hope you have a great weekend!
Hi Angela! You are going to add so many useful garments to your wardrobe as you complete the fixes! I have never paid any attention to the magazines at Joann - I’ll check them out next time.
Hi Michelle! Thanks for stopping by! Yes, that is the goal and I need to keep this momentum going, lol. Have to say, Joann has the best magazine rack to be found, so easy to get sucked in. I usually just walk right past so that doesn't happen. Let us know if you find something you like. Hope you have a fantastic weekend!
Hi Angela! I enjoy watching your videos, whenever you're able to be here! 😘 Yes, please share your dress when you are finished - and any little fixes you've done 😁 I've just finished an Archie top, and some Pietras that were put on hold for costume-making. Just now putting hardware on some new Dawn jeans and just cut a Wildwood Jacket and another Olya top. They are all coordinating. Happy sewing!! ❤
Hi Lynn! Your recent projects sound fantastic! Thanks for sharing what you've been working on. I haven't made any of those patterns, but I keep hearing great things about them all. Hope you have a great weekend!
I thrift and alter too. It's easy for the list of little projects to get out of control. Tackling it all at once is great and help prevent future mistakes. I underestimate how long alterations take, so forcing myself to do them makes me face that reality and keep it in mind before I purchase any more projects.
Hi there! Yes, SO easy for it to get out of control. It's hard to turn away from working with gorgeous new fabric, but this just gotta be done, lol! Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you have a great weekend!
I have a small pile of garments (and one purse) that need some alteration. Usually the day comes when I decide that now is the time to alter or mend or whatever needs to be done so I can get ride of the pile.
Yes! That is how I'm feeling right now. Do you find that you can usually stay focused on getting through it all?
Hi thank you for holding the pattern so we can read them L
You’re welcome! 😊 Thank you for the nice comment and I'm glad this was helpful.
It's pretty cool looking at the designs of the past! I sent you a message on Instagram.❤
I'll check it out! So sorry I missed it - headed there now.
I missed the poll, but I agree that this dress would look great sleeveless.
Thanks Zelda! 💕
Currently, I use a spreadsheet & multiple plastic lidded boxes I bought from Target. Labeled the boxes with my labeler. I hope to find something else workable soon. I just found a double purchased pattern....in the same size range. Guess that should be on my "must sew" list. 😅😅 I don't have much space at the time so I have my washed fabrics hanging from hangers with a post it note noting how much yardage I have after shrinkage.
Those sound like great systems for your patterns and fabrics! I love the idea of keeping a post it right with the fabric noting the yardage, so handy. Thanks for sharing! 😊
ANGELA! Oh my goodness! 🙀 The hair! I LOVE IT! It's been waaaay too long! 🙃It's really grown! 😎 Now that's my kind of fabric shopping. 🤑 Never hurts to peek around in the clearance. The fabric is gorgeous and I think it is going to be a perfect match for the pattern you've chosen. I can fully understand the excitement. I'm excited to see the final outcome. 😊 Happy sewing! Take care!
Hi Terri, thank you so much!! Great to hear from you! I've got to stop dragging my feet and get the dress cut out this weekend. 😂😂😂
I suggest donating to Ryan Hall, Y'all, here on RUclips. They are a nonprofit organization and 100% of your donations are used for those affected by the Hurricanes.
Thank you for the suggestion! I will definitely take a look.
@@JustMeAndMyFabric you're welcome. 😊
The red suit looks like you could make it out of a ponte knit!
I think that's a great choice!
Faile. It is a dressier fabric but I love it. I would do it in a blue or charcoal gray. Plum would work. Pretty much any solid.
@@jeriwilson5228 Nice!!
A wool tweed would be pretty. 😘
Absolutely!
Hi Angela! I love that fabric and am looking forward to seeing the completed dress! I check out Pattern Review all the time 🙂
Hi Michelle! Thanks so much! 😊 Isn't PR just the best?!
Love the fabric print and they turned out great❤
Thank you! 😊 I really like these pants and I get compliments on them. People really seem to like the doggy fabric! Thanks so much for watching and for your nice comment. I appreciate it! Hope you have a great weekend!
I’m planning on making this, also. Yours turned out great
Thank you so much! Best wishes with yours and I’d love to know how it turns out. 🤗
I would use a fabric that is from the 70s and hard to find, but those tops would be beautiful in Qiana!
That 70s fabric sounds pretty perfect!
Hi please hold the pattern in place without moving them,.I would like it you show pattern and number so we could read them , thank you for sharing thank you L
Hi there! Thank you so much for watching and commenting! I’m glad you enjoyed the video and I appreciate the feedback. 🙏
Vegan wool. That looks like a great pattern!❤❤
I think so too!
Love your cute dresses!
Thank you so much, Beth! 😊
I love it as a vest. It looks very nice on you! I commented in your other video just today, telling you that I just took a sewing class at Joann using this pattern. The teacher warned us that it is very large. She had me make a "small" and I am normally am a size large or sometimes even x-large (41 inch bust). The small fits me great! We made the long-sleeve version (D) and she had us do the sleeve differently. Instead of the "set in" method described, I don't know what she called it, but we pinned the sleeves at the top onto the top of the armsye and pinned it all in. Then we sewed the sleeve seam and the side seam in one fell swope. It's hard to describe.
Thank you so much! I did see your other message and I greatly appreciate you sharing your experience. How fun to do this project in a class. ☺️ Having a teacher there to help with the tricky spots is such a blessing. I don’t think either of the Joanns near me offers classes, but I do remember taking quilting classes when I first started quilting and it was great.
Angela, I just took a sewing class at Joann using this pattern. First, the teacher says it is way oversized. I am normally a size 12/14 in regular clothing but she had me make a size S. I usually wear a large or x-large. The teacher had us, instead of doing set-in sleeves, she had us fit and pin the top of the sleeves onto the top armhole, and then we stitched the top of the sleeve. Then we sewed the side seam and the sleeves. This avoided set-in sleeves. I think they are called inset sleeves? I am a really new sewist so I may not be explaining it very well. This pattern would make a really cute sleeveless duster. I made my sweater with a sweater knit from Joan. It was what the teacher suggested and I love it. Mine is also gray in color. I'm wearing it to work tomorrow.
Hi there! Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I’m glad it wasn’t just me. 😂 I’m not familiar with the sleeve technique you described but I’m intrigued and will look into it. I’m so happy yours turned out well in the end. 😊 Hope you have a great week!
I would encourage searching for a Dress a Girl Around the World ambassador in your state that collects dresses all year. The emphasis Mari shares is great just to be made aware of the need.
This is great advice, much appreciated!
