Wake up with Rolex and Omega watches! Tim Mosso leads our global audience of luxury watch buyers, watch collectors, and watch enthusiasts on RUclips’s only curated wristwatch safari every Wednesday and Sunday morning. Patek Philippe perpetual calendars, a first generation Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chronograph, vintage watches from Omega and Panerai, and exotics from Laurent Ferrier, Arnold & Son, Zenith, and Chopard will feature this morning!
Rolex watches are weekly highlight on our program. Today, Tim discusses his memory of the 2016 launch of the Rolex Air-King in its current 40mm stainless steel format. An uncommon Rolex Day Date on a President bracelet sports an intriguing “Rolex wave” dial. Finally, a 1999 A-series Rolex Daytona with Zenith El Primero-based caliber 4030 steals the show.
Omega Speedmasters in two different forms prove that Rolex’s rival from Bienne can impress with both vintage and contemporary luxury timepieces. A rare early 1970s vintage Omega Speedmaster Mark II with gold-plated case and gold dial impresses with its period style. For fans of contemporary wristwatches, the Omega Moonwatch on an alligator strap proves that NASA’s Omega watches still clean up nicely when the time comes to swap space suits for black tie.
Tim loves Germany’s A. Lange & Sohne, so three models from the Glashutte watchmaker grace the stage. First, a classic 39mm A Lange & Sohne Datograph flyback chronograph in rose gold reminds us why this model gave Patek Philippe fright on its debut in 1999. Second, a handsome platinum Langematik with automatic caliber L921.1 showcases traditional German understatement.
Finally, the eye-popping 2014 Richard Lange Terra Luna Perpetual Calendar proves that Germans can go absolutely wild when desired; this watch packs a remontoir constant force device, a power reserve indicator with 14-day power reserve, a celestial complication with world time, position of the Moon, position of the Earth, moonphase, age of the moon, and position of the sun.
Officine Panerai watches have been rarities on the show, and Tim seeks to right the wrong. Today’s program features an exquisite early-Vendome A-series Panerai Luminor Marina PAM 001 with original Panerai tritium “sandwich” dial, outstanding condition, full box and papers, COSC chronometer certificate, and a supplementary Officine Panerai extract from the factory archive.

These morning shows are quickly becoming my favorite. Cheers Tim.
Thank you, Bob! The timing felt like a better solution than our old evening streams. To quote David Gilmour, these watches in the AM are "a dream unthreatened by the morning light."
Best,
Than you so much for listing the prices
You guys rock!
My two favorites here...the tonneau cased Speedmaster at the beginning and that incredible Lange at the end! That Rolex Day-Date with the wavy dial was very nice too.
The Terra Luna is a shocking piece to encounter. Few watches offer such a range of capability, and the specific complication combination of the RLTL is unique to this model. We don't see them too often, so the review video of this example will be my first. Look for that video on this channel at some point over the next week.
Best,
Tim
Wonderful education about many watches I knew little or nothing about. The Chopard is timeless.
Thanks Tim and crew.
Great show thank you sir. Stay safe.
Of course all of the A. Lange & Sohne watches today are amazing. There is something about that simple Saxonia that really speaks to me! Great show Tim!
That Sax is a very special little watch. Few true high horology pieces are so discreet, and it's refreshing to find a charismatic modern men's option in the 37mm size.
Best,
Tim
Man, I could listen to you for hours talk about these watches! You and that English dude from that other channel are the best.
That Lange Terra Luna is totally bonkers! I didn’t even know it existed and dang, now I want it!
I fell in love with that watch. It's the perfect combination of whimsical (celestial) and practical (power reserve, calendar). This is the first one that I've encountered outside of industry trade shows.
Best,
Tim
Great move putting info and prices in description. Timestamps would be icing on the cake. Please update.
I'm working on that. Right now, I work pretty much unsupported, so all of the watch selections, presentation, arrangements, and descriptions for this show are mine. If I ever get a full-time staffer, I'll add the time stamps and start to roll out new shows I've planned.
Best,
Tim
Those rectangular VC 's are beautiful , I'd like to see more watches like this .
Nice table this morning Mosso. Quite a variety indeed. Very much liking Lange overall although your VC was unique. The DB was clean. Even the Brady Bunch kids would even wear some of these pieces. Cheers! I should have counted how many times Brian Goverb was said. 🥃
A stunning Roger Dubuis thank you for bringing it to our attention
It might have been the last indisputably handsome RD model. Everything since has morphed into a mutant species. The new watches are well made, but they're devoid of elegance.
Best,
Tim
So many great ones, including the Roger Dubuis, the LF, the PP PC Retro, the VC Saltarello and, of course, that insane ALS Terra Luna. But my favorites are the Roger Dubuis (which sadly is too large for my 15.5 cm wrist), and the VC Saltarello (which would actually fit). Thanks Tim!
Great show TIM
Hi Tim, I've been racking my head with this one, so I've come your wealth of knowledge for help. The question seems simple: what are the options for an annual/perpetual calendar chronograph with independent hour hand (for timezones)? Cheers, Alan
Aww man....beautiful watches!
Great review. Good job on the Air-King. A lot of people don't know that it's basically a Milgauss with a different dial...and I try to bring it up when I can. I knew that if Tim Mosso didn't bring it up then nobody would! I bought one for myself but gave it to my son because I think it suits him better. It has a fresh, youthful dial. I also like that you gave the background on the dial. You must spend a lot of time getting to know all of these watches so well!
@SL Who said my son is still a baby? He's bigger than me now!
@SL Exactly. ;)
Love that moderated tone for Lange, that's pitch perfect 'gravitas' all day. Lol
That plated omega is a nice looking piece. That's Real Vintage
the gold and red Omega is fantastic... some very nice VCs here.... whenever I see Panerai, I think of a snap-on case-back and 30m water resistance... nice one Richemont, you really did well there 😩
Love that Air King! Tim, if you had to choose between that Air King or the JLC Polaris Date, what would you go with? I’m at an impasse.
Another great show, Tim! That Terra Luna is absolutely exceptional! What's happening with the Lange sports watch? Is it still going to be announced this month?
The Bloodhound LSR (Land Speed Record) is still in development after being bought out from the previous owners.
I hope it succeeds.
Best,
Tim
You learn something everyday. The Rolex Air King and the Bloodhound car. 😁👍🏻 Edit. I learnt masses from the video. Thanks as always.
A&S has some beautiful guilloché dials on certain models. I also love their Pyramid of Time; I’d love to see you analyze one Tim!
PP & Tiffany? They should replace all white stuff (printing, hands, band stitching, etc) with Tiffany Blue.
Damnnn.. that Terra luna... Just like what you said.. can wear it but can't afford it.... always the best for last... you did it again Tim.
Laurent Ferrier is my favorite watch on the table🏆
Hey Tim, big thank you for being so consistent in producing amazing content 👍👍👍 sending good vibes from Singapore 👍
What an episode. Yes, of course that Terra Luna is ineffably fabulous. True, I’ve also never come across a Patek I couldn’t get along with. So why did I find myself myself wanting that gold-plated Speedy Mk2 so badly I could almost feel it on my wrist?
i know you said the Roger Dubois was manual wind but isnt that a micro rotor making it self winding?
Menandro Plan That’s what I thought I saw as well...
Great show Tim - that Lange Terra Luna is glorious.
Isn't that thing impressive? It's a grand complication-level watch that's almost never discussed or featured in watch media. With stuff like that floating around, I can't fathom how people will pay tens of thousands more for a Vaucher/Dubois Depraz-powered RM-011-03 than for a used Terra Luna.
Best,
Tim
@@the1916companywatchreviews Whilst clearly very very different and from a very different manufacturer it does remind me of the UN Tellurium in functionality.
My friend, you are convincing me to buy a omega speedmaster.
littlehorse growing its his job lol
I told a non-watch guy friend of mine recently that I bought another watch, and the most expensive one I've bought yet. His first guess was "is it a Chopard?". Moral of the story - even non-watch people know Chopard. That surprised even me! But yeah, back to me - I want an LUC!!
That surprises me, too. Can you believe that Quattro from the show is a sub-$10,000 Geneva Hallmark/COSC double with a 9-day power reserve? In a world where people pay twice retail for a steel Rolex...
Best,
Tim
I, for one, really like some of the jewelry maker watches. Chopard makes some great watches as does Cartier and Bulgari (although I really wished Bulgari hadn’t disbanded the Daniel Roth brand). You can’t go wrong with an LUC!
Can you please do a review on watches on watches at a lower price point....Love all the watches you show but its like your flexing your muscles on what you have in stock.
Love everything about Arnold & Son, except the styling.
Good morning Tim.
Good morning, Randy! Thanks for joining today's show.
Best,
Tim
The saxonia is my new grail, gives you everything you need, nothing that you don't.
The show always starts with one of mine, rarely ends with one of mine unfortunately ;-)
I'm with you on that count! Hopefully the show affords a chance to dream... and dreams *can* come true!
Best,
Tim
WatchBox Reviews Absolutely. Best show on the tube. As I go to work all I think about is “Must get that minute repeater.” Greetings from HK!
The VC jumping hour is a exquisite watch that I've rarely seen on the market 😱
That Roger dubuis is manual wind? I saw a micro rotor...
You manually shake it and it winds. (*_*)
@@locutusdborg126 yes of course, by that definition then seiko skx and 6139 are manual wind.
Tim, any reasons why you don't put the stock rubber strap on your EZM?
love that steel Daytona
1990s Daytonas are as cool as 1990s Porsche 993s: golden eras, both.
Best,
Tim
WatchBox Reviews it’s primarily cool Because it has a Zenith base movement inside! Give me a Zenith rainbow fly back from the 90s instead please!
That's the olny duBuis I'd ever admit to wearing
love vintage gold Rolex!!
Wasn't that Sub special? After seeing 1,000,000+ Cartiers with their fake spinel sapphire crowns, seeing real sapphires on the dial of that Submariner was a rare treat.
Best,
Tim
Yes the sub looks great
That PP 5160 is truly art gallery material! 🤩
I absolute love the VC Saltarello but maybe i slighty prefer the one with the round case, definitelly one of my favourite and grail watch!
There is an earlier VC 1990s jump hour with the same movement, reference 43040, but it has an orbital minute index rather than the retrograde index on the Salty.
Best,
Tim
Omega doesn't make movements hon, just like Tudor their made for them by ETA etc.
Waiting for an call from my AD regarding a Daytona. I already have the speedy . Which Daytona dial should I hope for ?
Black...just easy on the eyes. The white is outstanding, can’t go wrong.
Assuming it's a steel Daytona, you've got just the two choices. I like the look of the black dial better, and it seems that the black dial is scarcer than the white dial version.
Best,
Tim
Nicky T Ice Blue
WatchBox Reviews hi Tim, yes it will be the SS Daytona.
B S hahaha can’t afford that one but it’s a beaut !!
That Terra Luna has to be like $10k to service 😆
It's not AP. It costs only 4.200€ for a complete service of the movement alone, plus optionally 800 € for a case overhaul, which already includes 19% German VAT.
@SL Tim, any thoughts on how much a service would cost?
@SL Just curious. Why can't we ask questions to learn more?
@SL No reason to make this hobby inaccessible to people who want to learn more about it.
@Dave Mendoza ?
Im only 15, one day i will get a omega speedmaster. im going to save up.
Same watch that took me at young age
Outstanding work Tim! What a show. Well done and stunning watches. That VC Saltatero (sp?) was my favorite.
Thanks, Portland! The Salty is my favorite as well, and it's exactly the kind of watch I'm considering to re-start my collection.
Best,
Tim
The TerraLuna has been my ALS grail for a long time. But unless I sell a kidney to an aging rock star or hit the lottery I don't think it will come to pass. (I do have my sights set on a Dato Perpetual though). You and your show have turned me into a HUGE Dubuis fan and the Monagasque was a well kept secret until now!!! Still would like a Hommage Chrono with the guillochet dial and RD56 movement. Thanks to this show, I now have another VC to add to my list, the Salterello, even though as you say it resembles a bathroom scale. Also heavily considering that Mark II Speedmaster at the start of the show, absolutely groovy seventies styling for that piece. It would look great paired with a longhood 911S.
By the way, you know you have an incredible show when that LF fades into the background..... great pieces on the table here, very well sourced.
Damn!, that L.F. is a badass movement. That's how it's done without chatons.
OMG that tritium sandwich, mmm hungry me, drooooool!!
It's what every fauxtina dial wants to be in its wildest dreams. Although the watch itself was the focus, the boxed set for this particular 1998 PAM 001 is one of the most comprehensive and impressively preserved that I've encountered.
Best,
Tim
149,500... yeesh. But I want it. Any idea how much it would cost to properly service that thing?
4200€ for the complete service of the movement, optionally 800€ for the case overhaul, all this includes 19% German VAT Quite reasonable, I'd say
SL i own three lange’s. Your bitterness is showing through, don’t make it personal.
SL yeesh, so i don’t own PPs? Exactly my point, all i expressed was that i want it... it’s an expression of desire. You are exposing yourself by assuming everything else and making it personal, don’t cringe me out you lame
Great video Tim, I often hear you refer to the "danger zone" when changing the date, is this applicable to all mechanical watches with date complications? Cheers from Mallorca
That VC is truly stunning. Love the wake-up with watches programming.
Thanks for watching! Selecting and preparing these watches is a highlight of my week.
Best,
Tim
That Air King should be the official watch of John Deere tractors it's green and yellow.
Which Rolex models would be Ford, Case, International, and Caterpillar?
Best,
Tim
Ha ha! Maybe they should have done the entire dial in that green and all silkscreen printing in yellow instead of white!
22:09 Thanks for clearing the facts about the Tiffany & Co. dials. I've always wondered about that. Although I wonder if the Rolex centers would except servicing these watches. I assume they would. Since they are not blatant after-market work like gem-setting. ⌚
I'm sure that at this point Rolex would have gotten over its 1990s ire at Tiffany... but I wouldn't take the chance.
Since the last of the Tiffany-signed Rolex models were sold in roughly 1994/1995, all of them are approaching vintage status, and that makes service with a local vintage specialist the best option.
Rolex pulled Tiffany's distributorship over the dial signatures, and I'd be too concerned about the company swapping the Tiffany dial to send such a watch to factory service.
Best,
Tim
Love the Vacheron Constantin Saltarello its a beauty.
Terrific selection Tim, matter of fact the best you've show pieced to date! I love the vintage Omega Speedmaster Mark II. The gold combined with the red bezel looks amazing also the strap colour and design was very well chosen by whoever, I must say. Great show as always!!!
The speedmaster is a $1,500 watch tops. It’s not worth more than that.
Whatever happened to the drawing for that Panerai? We never heard anything about that.
That earth and moon phase on the last Lange blue my mind.
Patek , VC and AP should take the back seat in the Lange show
That VC is awesome!
The white gold Saltarello is a dream watch for me. As I said in the video, this over a Zeitwerk... and I love the Zeitwerk nearly enough to get a tattoo of it.
Best,
Tim
I wanna buy a steel Rolex Daytona from Govberg Jewlers.
brian@govbergwatches.com is the contact for *new* Rolex sales. We also have several pre-owned with majority of warranty remaining in effect on the Watchbox side of the company.
Best,
Tim
@@the1916companywatchreviews , well, that is the catch. At Govberg you have to sell MSRP but at Watchbox you guys do whatever you want. I want 5 steel Daytonas from Govberg. For MSRP.... paying cash.
Also want them with tags and stickers and the warranty card dated the day of sale. :))))
A dress watch extravaganza! Kind of makes me long for a more formal age.
I love the 16520 with the white dial but in the case of Rolex, the Patrizzi dial really screams "this is the new vintage".
Only a good salesman could almost sell me on gold plating.
I'll take that as a compliment even though I'm not in sales ;--) I even have a "don't buy a 5711" article ready to publish that basically undercuts even our pricing on the Nautilus. Honest first...
Best,
Tim
@@the1916companywatchreviews Tim one thing I found in good organizations is..."everybody sells". Nice job man.
phirst
Thank you for supporting the show!
Best,
Tim
I'd give every cent I have for that Dato. $140?
