“Weekend Watches” with Tim Mosso brings Rolex, Patek Philippe, F.P. Journe, Richard Mille, Vacheron Constantin, and Jaeger LeCoultre to you breakfast table! From alarm watches to chronographs to tourbillon regulators, today’s show is the ultimate opportunity to shop watches from the comfort of your morning coffee. Watch buyers, watch collectors, and watch enthusiasts know that their home on RUclips is the internet’s only live luxury watch safari; this is Weekend Watches!
Rolex watches are the backbone of our program, and three special Rolex models feature on today’s show.
The first is an iconic modern dive watch: the Rolex Submariner “Smurf.” This white gold Submariner Date launched in 2008 as the first white gold Rolex Sub in series production and the first Cerachrom bezel Submariner. An unconventional 2016 Baselworld launch, the Rolex Air King 116900, sports a Rolex Explorer dial modified with the yellow, white, and green graphics that Rolex created for the instruments of the Bloodhound supersonic car. Finally, a stainless steel and platinum Rolex Yacht-Master showcases the legendary matte platinum dial of a variant that many watch buyers consider to be the definitive Yacht Master.
Patek Philippe builds only a fraction of Rolex’s total production, but the Plan-les-Ouates manufacture stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the five-pointed crown where status and stature are concerned.
A Patek Philippe Aquanaut “Jumbo” - reference 5065A - from 1998 embodies the first-generation full-size stainless steel Aquanaut; its factory tritium dial is immaculate. The Calatrava Pilot Travel Time combines a useful second time zone with a robust white gold 42mm case and lush blue matte dial. The Patek Philippe World Time 5131G includes a handmade cloisonné enamel dial depicting Europe, Asia, Oceania, Africa, and India.
Fans of independent horology will thrill to the inclusion of three watches from F.P. Journe of Geneva. The titanium Elegante 48 quartz sports watch is the most water-resistant watch available from Montres Journe. In contrast, the Linesport Chronographe Monopussoir Rattrapante is a platinum split-seconds sports watch for high-and-dry active lifestyles. A titanium 42mm Centigraphe Sport combines a unique luminous dial, Linesport-exclusive case shape, and all-aluminum chronograph caliber 1506 with a rough-and-ready natural rubber strap.

Tim you're now dropping the E6-B reference correctly and without skipping a beat. I like it.
WBR: the channel that gives you more!
Best,
Tim
That quick release strap system built into the JLC World Alarm case might be the most innovative thing I've seen in terms of strap changing. Being able to use any strap, regardless of spring bar, is brilliant and very consumer friendly!
I can't understand why only JLC does this. Maybe only JLC had the integrity to build a quick release that doesn't compel you to buy proprietary straps.
Best,
Tim
I have to say Tim, I learn something new every time you present! Today it was the Patek caliber 240 in the 5131G. It’s the same caliber in my 5712 (which I love even more now)! What dawned on me was that Patek prices it’s watches based on their various calibers. The cheapest Patek with the 240 is $28k. It goes way up from there. The 324 caliber in slight step down, used in the Nautilus 5711, Calatrava, and Aquanauts but not for its self winding Grand Complications. Those watches use the 240 exclusively. From an aesthetic point of view the 31-260 Reg is close in architecture and beauty, but the Regulator watch line, IMHO, will be short lived (sadly). Now I really want the discontinued 5235g!! This added so much more understanding into Patek’s thought process in how they view their own line up. Thanks so much for additional watch insight. I’m heading down the rabbit hole to further understand Patek and their universe! Bravo! Keep up the good work.
I share your regrets concerning the Regulator, which seems likely to be remembered as an evolutionary dead end. But I hope the 31-260 survives. Patek is slowly retiring the 324 in favor of the 26-330, so perhaps we'll see some variation of the 31-260 supplant the 240 in the next few years.
Best,
Tim
Oh boy I just can't help following in love with vintage RD timepieces!👍
I thought you might appreciate that one!
Best,
Tim
Appreciate the timestamps!
I thank my colleague, Brandon, for those.
Best,
Tim
Love the time stamps!
Thank Brandon for that. He's my first assistant media manager since Federico, and we're lucky to have him. Brandon also checks these comments, and I know he'll be happy to see your feedback.
Best,
Tim
That black dialed Master Control date is pretty damn close to the perfect watch.
It's my favorite version of the Master Control, and JLC has built quite a few variants since 1992.
Best,
Tim
That Grand Seiko is the bees knees! Wish it had 100m WR though....great show as always!
I'll feature other and more water resistant Grand Seiko models in future shows.
Best,
Tim
Some say if Tim was a Power Ranger that he'd be the red one.
I do all my own stunts.
Best,
Tim
Another wonderful weekend watches episode, Tim! I still can’t get over how I smile and think of Star Trek Next Generation and that DB28. Make it so Captain Picard!
I think DB leans into that comparison. It's better to be space age than stone age.
Best,
Tim
Roger roger roger ! Love the vintage stuff , hate the new stuff . The sympathie is truly a missed design that still stands up well to the aesthetic of today.
The early Sympthaie is a collectible class by itself. I look at the current RM-wannabe line of Rogers and wonder how the company could have squandered such a rich and revered legacy. Only the 2011 Monagasque collection recovered a measure of the old Sympathie's grace, and RD only cares about promoting the Excaliburs.
Best,
Tim
That Blancpain Havana dial is absolutely gorgeous! Such an overlooked high end brand.
True. This would be selling for multiples of our ask if it said "F.P. Journe, Invenit et Fecit" on the dial.
Best,
Tim
Definitely enjoy seeing Vacheron, Blancpain and Roger Dubuis on here! Looking forward to Monday’s show if it’s still gonna happen on Memorial Day. Thanks Tim!
I think we're shooting Monday. My boss told me to expect the internet division to be at work.
Best,
Tim
Blancpain Les Brassus for the win! I so completely and totally wished they would make a Fifty Fathoms with that dial (preferably in guilloché) and sapphire capped bezel color! That on an X-71 - I would own serial number 1 of it!
I support this. A perpetual calendar FF with this dial would be more desirable than the somewhat awkward Fifty Fathoms Complete Calendar that's offered.
Best,
Tim
WatchBox Reviews I’d love just the three-handed Fifty Fathoms with this dual/bezel color. And preferably not in a limited edition. Deep forest green, rouge red, teal, even rusty orange would all be cool too! Blancpain shouldn’t ask “why?” but rather, “why not?”...
Tim must be sweating buckets with the squeaky AC off. Thank you for your sacrifice.
The AC cools the other parts of the building -- not my basement. But I didn't turn it off. I secured a squeaking pivot axle for a vent valve. It was oscillating back and forth as a square peg in a square hole attached to an open/close lever. I secured the axle and the noise stopped. HVAC specialists wanted $7,000 to fix it.
Best,
Tim
WatchBox Reviews you just saved $7k! Maybe put that money towards a new watch? 😜
Love this watch.
I'd love to see more Habring2 on your reviews and your long form shows. Thanks for having one today.
The Blancpain perpetual is out of control cool. Imagine the price if it said patek on the dial.
All that, and it's a GMT. It would be a $100,000 used watch as a Patek.
Best,
Tim
@@the1916companywatchreviews Love it...for same $ the Blancpain or the Roger Dubuis?
That's classic !
Great show, Tim! Love the sign, and love the Sinn. That closer RM manages to be ghastly and awesome at the same time.
I didn't pick that RM to close because I liked it best but because it was the most provocative. Exactly which emotions it "provokes" comes down to the individual. And yes, both "ghastly" and "awesome" apply.
Best,
Tim
That Grand Seiko is an absolute stunner, hell I had to add it on my list which is getting dangerously long...
Good choice! I know what you mean about list length, sadly...
Best,
Tim
I end up saying it a lot but this was a truly great show with almost all the pieces being very special. I loved them all so it's too hard to pick a couple winners but I guess the ones that stuck with me most after the show were: the JLCs, especially the Master Compressor (I'd have one except for the cost); that ALS - always great and those Rolex' would be my choice for the brand. The Journe mono pusher chrono was most nice (especially the lume shot) but that quartz model is a neat concept, taking quartz to the next level. Your right about the Blancpain, what a bargin! I've always been a big fan of the Type XX as a dress chrono, but this one is a big step up. The PP Avaitior is truly my favorite PP but it's a watch that ALS should have built, I'm surprised they let PP get by them in that genre being one of the five original suppliers to the RLM for B-uhrs, they have the DNA for avation. Finally, that RM truly had it all and then some as an avation watch. I don't usually care for RM pieces but this one is Sinn like in it's purposefulness, love it! I assume it meets the DIN 8330 standard?
Thanks for the great start to the weekend, really getting to like your one man show format; the sign, the EZM 1, the lume shots. From my perspective, keep doing what you're doing.
Cheers.
Randy Allen -there’s no denying, his One Man Show is the way to go..,
Rolex YM is very Nice 👍 Great job as always Tim 😀
"OK, Lange, you're crazy, but I love you for it" -- haha Tim you made me laugh and yes, Lange really are something else and that watch is evidence of that. What a company they are.
It's a ton of watch. Oddly, it's not as huge as you might think. The thing is large by Lange standards, but 41.9mm isn't oversized compared to what's out there -- especially sports watches.
Best,
Tim
The champagne dial on that Grand Seiko!!!
Even though I don't want a watch with a GMT fuction... that Grand Seiko is spectacular
I'll try to find a Grand Seiko with the champagne dial but not the GMT for a future show.
Best,
Tim
Great show Tim.
Thank you for this kind feedback!
Best,
Tim
Love that Smurf!
Platinum Yatch master , mine
Smurf is one of my grail watches for sure
I love how it looks but can't stand the idea of a precious-metal diver. Omega got it right by doing their premium divers in grade 5 titanium instead, so much better.
pour le merite is the ultimate watch. Change my mind.
Well, there **are** other Pour Le Merite models to challenge the premise. I'm thinking of the 1-piece 1990s Tourbillon Pour Le Merite in steel as a viable alternative.
Best,
Tim
@16:11 DAMN.
That grand Seiko!!
I love this channel :) stay save everybody
Thanks, Kasper. Stay safe and healthy.
Best,
Tim
I really like that Rolex Air King it's truly a go anywhere do anything watch it will never look dated .
It was one of the smaller launches in a big year for Rolex (2016), but the once controversial dial seems to be aging well. I like it.
Best,
Tim
Oof that Rm is HUGE, looks really exeptional, and special, but it would totally consume my 14.5 cm wrist.
I clould wear it to any of my outdoor activities, running, working out, swimming, climbing great watch.
Btw Tim great show Tim as allways :)
Have you ever seen a Rm 008-v1, it is a stunning watch, truly a racing machine for any wrist.
I've seen many RMs, but never the 008. That said, we'll have one eventually, and then I'll record a video.
Best,
Tim
@@the1916companywatchreviews thanks for answering mate :), it's allways good to hear your opinnion on each topic.
I hope you're gonna have a nice Weekend.
Hi Tim, another great selection. 👍
Thanks, Russell! I'm still trying to figure out where we're keeping that Datograph Tourbillon Perpetual. One of these days, I hope to feature that thing here.
Best,
ti m
WatchBox Reviews Datograph Tourbillon Perpetual - a stunner. So many amazing pieces. Haven’t stopped thinking about the 5078P since last weekend. 🤯 Russell
I got a omega waterproof dial plexy and ss case, do you recomend me find the movement and everything else on ebay or is not good idea, I got it for $40.???
Would a tudor Pelagos or rolex sub/gmt fit the bill for activities like running and some sports? I usually don’t take my watches off during these activities but maybe I should
A Pelagos would be better since it's lighter on the wrist. But I'd advise against using watches during high-impact sports. Running is fine, but tennis, golf, guns... lock up the watch beforehand. Cycling usually isn't a problem, but if you're hit or wipe-out, the watch could hit the deck pretty hard.
Best,
Tim
why is the air king clasp backwards?
What's that vintage first watch you showed in your hands? Beautiful!
We've had some vintage Rolex and Omega on the show in the past, but the RD is more interesting to me than those. Also, the marble dial Day Date qualifies.
Best,
Tim
I miss Watches Live.
Volume won the day. I started recording these months ago because it quadrupled viewership. Posting a recording at 7am is best-practice for RUclips success; the old evening slot was marginal. The Monday show remains live for now, but I'm forfeiting views for keeping it live on a Monday night.
Best,
Tim
i think i have seen to many Rolex and Journe, still watched the youtube though.
That's why I always include smaller brands. RD, Habring, De Bethune, and Lange were among my favorites today.
Best,
Tim
@16:11 WOW, THATS NICE. 🤪❤👍🤔🔥🤯👌🙏
WOW Super Selection
My Sport weekend vote two pieces...
1. PP Pilot Travel extraordinary new face for new market niche! ...to much expensive, YES!
2. FPJ Centigraphe ligth weigth but heavy tech.
Of course RM multi functions, scales and indicators... extreme piece, not for all...
and two personal options
VC Simply traditional & elegant bussines dress
JLC Master first collection step? Mmmm, very high quality for a first watch and the range price, great option, maybe the best of the day!
Thanks Tim
I'd choose the Master Control as a first step. It's a perfect everyday watch.
Best,
tim
@@the1916companywatchreviews Yes, of course, great watch.
Would be awesome if you guys would start time stamping these.
We added them.
Best,
Tim
Great thanks Tim. Just a wee tip if you make the first time time 00:00 you will see the actual video playback gets chapters too. It’s a new RUclips feature.
I feel like there's been a preponderance of highly expensive pieces as of late. Would be nice to have all the price points covered each of these shows. A few entry, a few mid tier, and some high horology. I totally get not everyone wants to see Oris or Hamilton, but they're in the vault inventory and could easily appeal to everyone watching. As much as I enjoy seeing FP, or Lange, the microcosm of your audience can afford it
We do cover all price points, just as a minority of the show. I've had Ball, Tudor, Oris, Bell & Ross, Habring, and Grand Seiko on this show or recent shows. Our most reliable buyers right now want Journe, Patek, Lange, etc, and that's what is selling.
Best,
Tim
@@the1916companywatchreviews Understood. Thanks, Tim
That Smurf.
Get a Clapper for your lights👏🏽👏🏽on, 👏🏽👏🏽off! 🤣
I just don't understand the love for RM. Give me De Bethune / Greubel Forsey any day for my avant-garde watch needs.
Yeah, I agree with you. Even Laurent Ferrier seems far more interesting and worthwhile compared to the RM stuff. I always get the sense that the RMs are trying too hard. Aside from the actual FIFA, F1, PGA, etc ambassadors who can walk the walk, RM owners always strike me as trying too hard. It's like driving around in an F350 dually because Viagra and Cialis didn't do the job.
Best,
Tim
That's some impressive talking. I don't think Tim took a breath for 45 minutes.
It's amazing what a human being can do for a paycheck during a depression. Before you know it, I'll be able to do a full hour on one good lung full of air.
Best,
Tim
“....killling me softly....” Heck! Tim, you are killing me violently with your watches!!! First the FPJ Linesport Rattrapante (?$), then the Blancpain and then the RD Sympathie( which I didn’t buy back in early 2000’s) I’m trying to save up for TerraLuna that I know will be sidetracked by a FPJ. Come on...!
If you've got the wrist for the Terraluna, go for that. You won't be disappointed.
Best,
Tim
WatchBox Reviews - the main issue, after $, with getting the TerraLuna is trying to resist getting something else along the way, sabotaging the ‘savings’!!! Since May of last year, I got the Langematik Perpetual from Zach. While it was in service, I got a UN Perpetual GMT +_ in June, then in February I bought a JLC 3022420, mind you I owned both the Un and the JLC before, albeit the steel model JLC. And now Watchbox is diverting my attention toward a FPJ...I’ll never get a chance to save up for the TerraLuna! Especially since I’ve been retired for a year. It looks like unless I hit the lottery...
When he pulled that paper lmao. Should use a cool video editing
Graphics are forgotten instantly; people comment on the paper every time I show it. That's how I know it's getting noticed.

@@the1916companywatchreviews ohhh thats why
The overpriced Hublot at the end says so much about the quality of the component manufacturers asked to do the work and equally about the people who buy them.
JLC Master Compressor Extreme Lab II; the thinking man's Richard Mille.

Trying so hard to sell the De Bethune
I only speak from the heart. This is an awesome watch. The RM is the hard sell.
