Luxury watches are the best way to start your day; watch collector Tim Mosso showcases top luxury watches from Rolex, Patek Philippe, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Panerai, and more today on “Wake Up With Watches.”
The Rolex Yacht-Master in its popular steel-platinum form is a star courtesy of its platinum dial and matching platinum timing bezel. Red accents, an Oyster bracelet, and the workhorse Rolex 3135 caliber complete the picture of a versatile and striking watch. Two Rolex Day-Dates showcase the beauty and gravitas of Rolex’s longtime flagship. At 36mm, both of these Day-Dates include white metal cases (platinum and white gold), extravagant dials (glacier blue and salmon metallic), and diamond-index hours.
Patek Philippe offers watch collectors two different faces in the form of a white gold regulator and a steel sports watch. The Patek Philippe 5235G “regulator” is an annual calendar that incorporates the case lines of the vintage 3448 perpetual calendar, the silicon components of the Patek “Advanced Research” series, and a model-specific micro-rotor automatic caliber to power its unique brushed-metal dial.
In contrast, the Aquanaut 5167/1A is a full bracelet sports watch with a simple caliber 324 SC automatic movement, 120-meter water resistance, and a rare Geneva Hallmark caliber. That last feature is a scarce distinction only found on Aquanaut 5167s built between 2007 and July 2009. Needless to say, an Aquanaut on a bracelet is rare enough, so this example is a white whale for collectors of unusual and exclusive Patek Philippe models.
Rare and highly collectible F.P. Journe watches enter the discussion courtesy of an early 38mm platinum/yellow gold dial Chronometre Resonance with brass movement and a 2015 38mm stainless steel Octa Calendrier limited edition of 38 pieces.
Three Jaeger-LeCoultre watches - two complicated and one simple - brighten the table with grandeur from Switzerland’s Vallee de Joux. Tim has previously owned this model of white gold Duometre chronograph, so he speaks from the heart when explaining that one.

A quick note on the Panerai; what I thought was nickel-steel is in fact an alloy of titanium, aluminum, copper, and zirconium, so give the BMG-Tech a bit more credit than I did!
Best,
Tim
Great use of skeuomorph. Kudo-morph (lol).
WatchBox Reviews Tim,is there another manufacturer that makes their movements out of gold other than FP Journe?
Genus does, and so does Corum with the Golden Bridge. JLC did it with the 1991 Revero 60th (14-karat) and the 2003 Reverso Platinum No. 2 (18-karat). Vacheron builds caliber 1003 ultra-thin (JLC based) in 18-karat yellow gold. There's likely more that I've missed.
Best,
Tim
WatchBox Reviews Thanks.
joe r. I believe D. Dornblüth & Sohn and Lang & Heyne make gold movements.
Tims knowledge of watches and the history of each brand and model is unparalleled
syl pascale I think Tim is a robot!!🤔
The Lange Perpetual Rattrapante is watchmaking perfection.
I feel full of energy listening to you Tim even though it's 7 pm here in VN. Thank you and your team for this series 💪🏻
Tim - Great minds think alike! That Seiko Enamel Blue Dial Presage sits next to my Patek grade watches in my collection. That piece truly stands on its own! Thanks so much for calling this piece out! It’s an awesome piece that delivers far above its price point - proving it doesn’t take big dollars to deliver an extraordinary work of art!!
That Sinn is a beast and has one of the most satisfying bezels I have ever used. Great show Tim!
I LOVE the JLC Geophysic featured at 18:00. Spectacular piece. Seems to be the perfect combination of dress & sport. I think this could absolutely be a “one and done” piece for anyone looking for that one great all-around watch.
I respect and enjoy that watch more than all of the JLC re-editions. It's a legitimate bundle of impressive capability and details in an unassuming and elegant package. Only the Reverso Rouge comes close.
Best,
Tim
Wake Up With Watches is back. Tim, you set one hell on a breakfast table. Great show!👍
No love for the gen 3 dual time Tim? To me that seems top of the pile of the current range, smaller size like the date/time only, but no kinda "off" looking white date window on it. The black dial with the red touches in particular looks the business to me. Be interested to know what you think makes the no date the "one" when compared with the dual time version.
PS I'm a RUclipsr, please can you fix the Exp 2 giveaway so that I win? Seems you want a YTer to win, let's make a deal!!! ;)
I actually think a gen 3 Overseas comparison vid between the date, chrono and dual time would be a very cool vid to see. And possibly a "best of" each gen in your opinion also...
The Gen 3 Dual never looked right to me. I preferred the second generation version. There's no doubt that the third generation is more sophisticated in engineering and finish. I'll look into shooting a full-line overview of the current Overseas collection.
Best,
Tim
@@the1916companywatchreviews Thanks man! Will assume the Exp 2 is in the bag btw. Merry Christmas! ;)
Great collection of watches, I think we live in the best time to buy dress watches, as we can see from the price of the two Pateks, I would take the regulator annual calendar instead of the aquanaut any day of the weel.
I love those cases on the yacht master from the 90s.
Shout out to Philly from South Jersey 👍👍
Awesome A Lange finisher once again... Thank Tim. Have a nice weekend.
Better than a strong cup of coffee on a chilly Wednesday morning, Tim's watch show. It's all good but the trio of JLC's really impressed me. I see why you are a fan.
Cheers.
I have the 5167 and prefer the rubber. But that said, I think the metal bracelet looks really good. I hope someone buys it. The Aquanaut is a really good watch.
superb presentation. very informative and entertaining
Thanks for the Wednesday morning entertainment! A little mental break before I head to the office.
What's the rectangular dial watch up front on the table?
Great show and watch lesson thank you Tim. JLC black dial chrono is the tts. Sinn U l doesn’t get enough lov or the brand. Stay safe an warm sir. Sinn out.
VC and Oris are fire!
I really like the aquanaut on the bracelet...that is exactly the 5167 I'll have one day, Geneva seal included (my preference over the Patek seal).
Hi Tim the reference numbers for the two JLC Duometre in the text listing are incorrect. It seems they're a copy and paste of the Vacheron reference number...
Get a life.
Thanks for the great show! Lange operates like an independent watch brand, can this also be said about GO?
Rolex YM is pure fire 🔥
Great show as always
My vote on this table for PP Regulator simply and elegant.
Hey Tim... How much you love SINN??? Awsome black beast this show!
Hi Tim. The video deserves to be watched until the end as my favourite sentence is your last one : "I hope that Richemont doesn't remember that it owns the company" (ALS) 😁👍
Been doing some research, and while small sample sizes are the enemy of accuracy, it seems that some of these asking prices are getting on the high side.
Have you ever piled all the watches from the vault in the center of the room and done snow angels on them? I'll bet Brian has.
Acutally... the JLC duometre owns this caseback shot over the lange
Nice show Mosso, several of the over-hyped and raising their prices Rolex. Imagine that? Still no mention of the blueberry dial. Horology mania! 🥃
Tim is that yachtmaster a 16622 or a 116622. You said a 5 digit on the video but the listing reference is 6-digit.
Oh My God... that Sinn UBoat is a monster..
good stuff
Surely the Sinn U1 is unworn? There are stickers on the clasp.
We see that all the time. Some people buy a watch and then lose their nerve; it usually happens with some kind of Rolex, but other brands pop up. Either the owner was in over his head financially or he has second thoughts about the model. In both cases, the buyer usually tries to sell while the watch still looks new and various. stickers are still in place.
Best,
Tim
Excellent Tim as always.
PP 5235 caseback = true work art👍
While I am still saving to pick up something from watchbox.com, I have at least picked up some French lines from Tim.
I have to pull out my dictionary every time I watch your show Tim, and I write for a living...;) Love it.
Is that salmon Day Date factory with the Oyster Bracelet?
Tim, where are the prices for these? Is there a list for all of these? Thanks
Sorry, I see them now.
The first watch almost put me off the whole show. I don't know why, but FPJ just doesn't do it for me. But then I also couldn't get on board with Dire Straits back in the 80's, yet now I'm obsessed with them. So maybe time will tell.
1000lightyrs FPJ is an old mans watch-don’t worry you’ll get there.
You aren't alone.
If I had a time machine I would go back and stop fauxtina lume from being invented 💪😆
Oh...I just watched the whole show twice.
the U1 makes my tegimented 856 feel wimpy
"Thanks for loggin on!"
that overseas is HOT
?
My favorites today were the Sinn and Panerai, my least, that ugly oversized (very mid-naughties and outdated!) GP! I keep on hearing that GP is underrated, but so far, the majority of their models that I’ve seen are ugly and cheap looking (if not of course in their actual manufacturing quality) so I can see why they’re not held in particular high esteem. Anyway, the two great Lange’s to end today with, were fantastic.
austin rosin yes but Panerai’s have always been big, it’s part of the brand identity and while I do like it, especially that rare for a Panerai, blue lacquered dial. As a watch it’s too big for my taste, even if it looks good. But the GP here is big for big’s sake (and ugly) because of the time it was released to market...oversized was fashionable then, even though at the height of that craze I still didn’t like them...oversized watches that is.
austin rosin merry Xmas to you too.
journe is king
It really isn't
That aquanaut bracelet is 💩
