    There's such an exquisite amount of beauty in the complications that some companies, like A. Lange and Jaeger, use in their watches, that make you stand in awe of their engineering superiority.
    But sometimes, you find beauty in the simplest of things. This is one of them.

    • @BltchErica
      @BltchErica 2 года назад

      @@1517the_year The nautilus has a more flattering look thanks to the its ears' symmetry which then flow smoothly into the steel bracelet. It just looks smoother, more slim, everything is unified. The aquanaut looks more bulky and unsatisfying. And don't get me wrong, I definitely prefer the aquanaut, it looks so cosy and it's more understated and the globe-looking dial that flows into the bracelet is really cool, it makes me think of it as a casual travel watch.

  • @neilbraun11

    There are air bubbles in the lettering on the dial at 2:22. That makes me question the true quality control. If I payed 25k+ for a Patek and it wasn't perfect, I would be extremely mad. I'm looking at PP a little differently now. I know it seems trivial but these watches are critiqued under a microscope to warrant their pricing and that makes them look pretty bad.

    • @mattwasilewicz9677
      @mattwasilewicz9677 6 лет назад +15

      Yeah I noticed that too. Also the lume looks like it is blobbed on as well. Honestly, I feel that Patek is getting lazy with their entry level offerings, and the attention to detail only goes into their higher complications watches. Unlike a company like Lange, where OCD levels of attention to detail goes into every watch in their lineup

    • @neilbraun11
      @neilbraun11 6 лет назад +7

      Matt Wasilewicz getting too comfortable with their brand recognition. I feel like Lange has a heritage more known for being high horology through and through from day one. Less offerings and low numbers means better attention to detail. This video has me considering...just where does Patek sit on the podium of haute horology? What's next? Plastic movement holders! 🤔😂

    For me, the Nautilus is a dress watch on a metal strap, but I struggle to understand what the Aquanaut is trying to be. Neither qualify as real sports watches given they pack a relatively fragile movement also found in basic Calatrava's. The Aquanaut has, externally, all the attributes of a sports watch, but I feel sorry for those who think they can subject it to the same conditions as, say, a Rolex Explorer.
    The other thing that's shocking is how poor the finish of the dial is:
    - the irregularity of the printing at 2:25
    - the irregularity of the lume application at 3:55
    - dirt under the seconds hand at 4:02
    It's frankly unacceptable at this price point. I'll take any Grand Seiko over this particular Patek reference any day of the week.

    • @bighands69
      @bighands69 5 лет назад +1

      When you are at a pool side in Monaco or out driving through the alps in a naturally aspirated Porsche it makes perfect sense.
      Just as you would change your clothing for evening wear you can do the same with a watch. if you want to go diving with a watch then you have to use something like a tried and tested Rolex.
      You do not take your children to school on the handlebars of a bike and the same applies to watches.
      Some people who have a casual life and money may love that type of one watch wear.
      The irregularities you are talking about are hand finished and only show up on macro shots. Are you going to complain about the guys hands in the video as well.

    • @johnnyguitar6697
      @johnnyguitar6697 5 лет назад +1

      @@bighands69 The point I was making, and that you entirely missed, is that Grand Seiko produces watches without any of these blemishes, at a fraction of the cost of Patek. And they are also hand finished (not the movement, but definitely the dial / hands / case).

      @johnnyguitar6697 5 лет назад +1

The bezel and subtle beveling look alive in any light, and the high contrast of the dial against a subtle sunbust almost gives the watch a 3D effect. It's also amazingly thin and elegant despite the rubber strap. Even with numbers on a the dial, I think it could work as a dress watch. It's so slim, it's very elegant despite its "sporty" marketing. Just had the privilege of trying one but with bracelet at Prague PP showroom. It is very nice and cost 20kEur in SS. The dial at 40 or 39.5 mm looks small for me but it is a perfect timepiece.

    It may not be the style watch seen in your normal videos, but I really enjoy my “Scurfa diver one”, to me it is the ultimate tool watch, I’d love to see a review on it

    I love your content. The more clickbaity titles and interrupting the beginning with a "please like and subscribe friends!" message really are unnecessary for your calibre of content and simply take away from it imho.

    I don't think is worthy to get this rather basic but crazy overly priced watch. But truly appreciate the detail video shots & introduction of the timepiece. At this price point a Lange 1 is so much worthy of every cents u paid for.

    Thank you very much for the video. You’re absolutely talented.
    On top of a wonderful video - reference to “goes to eleven” was particularly fascinating given a context of a more informal culture of kids listening to Nirvana. The phrase itself comes from an mockumentary (one of the first in its kind) - This is Spinal Tap.
