Thanks for a more up to date review guys. I was extremely lucky and ordered mine back in 2018 and received it in 2019 (with bracelet and rubber) and have absolutely not regretted getting it. I love it. However if people could stop asking to buy it, that would be nice :D
Yup, it’s a stainless steel and rubber watch, and a simple, basic design. The price seems absolutely insane. But on the other hand, for reasons I can’t fully explain, I absolutely love it.
There’s the problem that guys want to get into Patek but they are not really into high horology instead they just think it’s the brand to have .Why are people so desperate to buy a sports watch from essentially a non sports watch company ? We must presume it’s driven by two things the name on the dial and the possibility of profit . As they are unattainable it’s highly unlikely that anyone will get close to purchasing.. Ive know two people who have owned the nautilus purchased at list when this was possible , they weren’t impressed and felt that there was far better at the price .. I think there is a real problem within the watch community.. many people seem more interested in trophy pieces as opposed to buying what they really love and that’s a pity ..
Most of these Swiss watches are not worth the retail price. The problem is the price is driven up by social media influencers and celebrities. Ultimately, the Aquanaut will get $50,000 (or more) because someone is willing to pay that price. If this model was a dud and no one wanted it, the price would be $10,000.
It costs money to run a brand and to produce things completely in house. It is priced exactly what the market dictates. Is a Bentley too expensive? Or an apartment in NYC.
Interesting, I thought the stainless steel could be bought for $25K; I didn’t realize it’s difficult to find. My thoughts on ‘is something worth it’: It is worth it if I can buy it and not stress the buying/service/repair cost, and I would greatly enjoy what I buy. -so for me, any Patek Philippe is not worth it for me, at this time in my life, even if it was $25K…. that’s a lot of money for a watch.
Very cool on the rubber but not even worth the 21,600 retail. The movement is beautifully finished and elegantly thin. But as a functional piece, movement, watch, any Omega, Rolex....is more accurate and can be set accurately. Certainly Rolex.
The retail price STILL IS $25k.Thats the real price for an Aquanaut from Patek. However, due to a true limited production more likely will not get one from an AD. The used market (even if it’s unworn) will be $50k. When we talk about Patek. Patek does not like or agree with grey market dealers. That part of the watch industry cheapens the brand name. They know it takes away from that special luxury VIP deserving client experience. To Patek their watches are meant to be heirlooms, not to be worn by hype brand wearing hype fake rich flex lifestyle guys. This is why they are limiting their sport collection. Which really is their entry level Patek watches.
I agree with Alex, it’s not worth 50k. Buy a Ceramic Daytona, and u could buy a used Porsche Boxster as well. As an example....U could get a AP RO and match with a rubber, and get a Pepsi GMT..as Alex said a 100 different watches...and have spending money after...
it's just like a painting it's not about the material it's about the design and history behind it Is it worth 50k? to me as an owner of 5167-1A, I'd say yes if I have the money it's a very sporty and yet elegant watch it will keep going up when it's discontinued Three years ago, I have a chance to buy 5167-1A but at that time, it's not catching my eye However, two years later, when I'm offered 5167-1A again, I feel so excited and can't wait to have it I have both 5167-1A and 5712-R all that I can say is 5167-1A is a very very special one kind of like hidden gem in PP (overshadowed by nautilus) it's probably the most beautiful aquanaut so far and I'm so grateful that I could buy it new
If you put it on your wrist you won’t want to take it off...and then you try to figure out how to get it. Of course it is madness. But then a rough Seiko 6105 is $3,000.
The dial lines look like a pineapple and an expensive one at that. Beautiful unit but would never put down 50k on a watch with a rubber strap. Thanks for the review, guys.
The financial worth of a product is a question of supply and demand. As long as there are people who are ready to pay 50 grands for that watch that is its financial worth. In regard to the costs of its production it is of course not worth that much.
yes and no. its price is a function of brand and luxury brand perception and desirability. it doesn't make rational sense, but this is a field that isn't rational. I actually really like the look of this watch and would like to own one.
When first i saw this watch in an video i did not care i did not like the watch. Recently a bizarre thing happed with me. My subconscious mind longing to see this watch agai and made to find and watch this watch. Now i am fallen in love with watch
ironically, I got a 5167A AND a 5205R together. And the 5205R gets almost no wrist time because i'll need to be in a very formal attire to wear it, and it seems to be too mature for me. The 5167 is worn 20x more often, and the 5205 is just a pretty thing in my watch box. The aquanaut is successful because it's perfect for any attire
Some people are retarded and uneducate enough to buy « that » for that money instead or a lange 1 moonphase or a Journe . That’s hilarious to observe the aftermarket. Nothing surprises me anymore in this world….
I paid 32 pounds for a 5517 , and had two more in my drawer at the same time I could have bought for the same price ,,, and I thought that was a lot of money ,,, the worlds gone mad.
Hafzid J Mehmood must-watch video explains a lot of defects of this watch maybe design flaws freak of nature who knows but I was seriously thinking about purchasing this until I do that I will have to take a Jeweler's loupe or some type of magnifying glass to make my final decision on pulling the trigger or not to add it to my collections. My Rolexes do not give me any of those issues and my other time pieces in my collection including Omega's. I am very disappointed to say the least with the tick Philippe. I may just be looking into an AP now if not another Rolex sports model.
The fair price is what people are ready to pay for it, it only comes to what 50k represents for you, myself I am not buying a rubber strap watch at this price let alone a SS case.
I always love watches and Patek Phillipe is one of the best and beautiful but is it worth that amount of money? Certainly not at all ...... the most expensive is, like in all luxury stuff, the name it carry along. If Seiko built exactly the same watch to every detail (I am sure they are capable to do so) it will be much much less price than Patek
the dial is a mess , look like a basket ball it's my opinion not for me , i have since the early 2000 , buy in second hand for 5 500 € , my nautilus 3800
I saw a standard one yesterday in a display window of a preowned watch store in Geneva. I was quite disappointed. I would give it 5-10K for its appeal to me, not more. And the rubber looks like vulgar, cheap plastic. So disappointed is the word considering the hype. Plus Nautilus and Aquanaut are part of the Rolexification of the Patek brand.
This is one of the most boring watches ever. It has no character whatsoever. Is that dial a circle or is it octagonal? Or is it something in between? That shape reminds of an old TV screen. The dial is looks like the surface of a football. I would feel bad if I had to pay $50 for that hiddeous thing. I certainly would never wear it. This watch proofs that most people with way too much money have no taste at all.
Is it worth it ? Of course no, but it's fun to observe the way Patek do business. Clever guys.
Thanks for a more up to date review guys. I was extremely lucky and ordered mine back in 2018 and received it in 2019 (with bracelet and rubber) and have absolutely not regretted getting it. I love it. However if people could stop asking to buy it, that would be nice :D
Enjoy! 🙌🏼
It represents the globe with all its coordinates and time zones (navigation)
very good humour !
It’s a stupid grenade
BS it's obviously a 50k Swiss hand grenade flexing it's neutrality.
Beautiful contemporary timepiece... I have one in my collection and i have found it so versatile due to its simplicity.. Great review, thank you
I’m fortunate that I have a 5167-1A coming in this year plus a separate clasp for the additional rubber strap.
Yup, it’s a stainless steel and rubber watch, and a simple, basic design. The price seems absolutely insane. But on the other hand, for reasons I can’t fully explain, I absolutely love it.

instablaster...
That’s everything 🤦🏻♂️…. These few brands and models are also great investments.
Maybe people are more interested in trophies.

By your logic the Rolex Cellini should retail at 5k because nobody wants it but it still retails at 20,000+ because they cant let it devalue the brand
I got it for 3
No. Nice watch. Only complication is the date. 50 grand is crazy.
Interesting, I thought the stainless steel could be bought for $25K; I didn’t realize it’s difficult to find.

-so for me, any Patek Philippe is not worth it for me, at this time in my life, even if it was $25K…. that’s a lot of money for a watch.
You’re correct 25k is the list price… these guys are just scumbag grey market dealers
Very cool on the rubber but not even worth the 21,600 retail. The movement is beautifully finished and elegantly thin. But as a functional piece, movement, watch, any Omega, Rolex....is more accurate and can be set accurately. Certainly Rolex.
I totally agree. I myself just left a comment and a must-see video from another RUclipsr.
I own a gold Aquanaut and it is a masterpiece.

what are those worth now 😮
it's just like a painting
it's not about the material

Is it worth 50k?
to me as an owner of 5167-1A, I'd say yes if I have the money
it's a very sporty and yet elegant watch
it will keep going up when it's discontinued
Three years ago, I have a chance to buy 5167-1A
but at that time, it's not catching my eye
However, two years later, when I'm offered 5167-1A again,
I feel so excited and can't wait to have it
I have both 5167-1A and 5712-R
all that I can say is 5167-1A is a very very special one
kind of like hidden gem in PP (overshadowed by nautilus)
it's probably the most beautiful aquanaut so far and I'm so grateful that I could buy it new
I love mine, honestly safe to say it will only go up in value.
Only aquatnaut owners think so
@@Guenounovitch it indeed is going up in value since the comment.
Lol owned in 2024
Same here, took me a while to appreciate this watch 👌
RE. Scarcity. There is a scarcity as well. But you can always go on the used market to find what you want.
Can’t find one for $50k now
If you put it on your wrist you won’t want to take it off...and then you try to figure out how to get it. Of course it is madness. But then a rough Seiko 6105 is $3,000.
The dial lines look like a pineapple and an expensive one at that. Beautiful unit but would never put down 50k on a watch with a rubber strap. Thanks for the review, guys.
The reality of it is no watch is worth that. It's priced according to the desire of those that want it. The best case is the Rolex Daytona steel.
Of course it’s worth it. Prices like that keep the rabble away.
$75,000+ now.
Over 100k€ now… 🤘🏻🤪
@@christianfloehr Try U$160,000 new. Lol.

I own one and am thinking of trading it for the gold 5167R.
I dont like numbers on the dial, looke like a kids watch.
Dial need to be update
yes and no. its price is a function of brand and luxury brand perception and desirability. it doesn't make rational sense, but this is a field that isn't rational. I actually really like the look of this watch and would like to own one.
Where in the world can you get a 5167 for $50K?
When first i saw this watch in an video i did not care i did not like the watch. Recently a bizarre thing happed with me. My subconscious mind longing to see this watch agai and made to find and watch this watch. Now i am fallen in love with watch

They really need to update the dial.. it is so outdated
VC overseas blue dial video please !
Yes that one would be interesting to review :)
I own it and I love it more than my other Patek, 5712
Absolutely stunning piece.
What do you guys think of the new 4947/1A?
It's all about if you want to join the game or not, but 50k for an Aquanaut, no...
Some people are retarded and uneducate enough to buy « that » for that money instead or a lange 1 moonphase or a Journe . That’s hilarious to observe the aftermarket. Nothing surprises me anymore in this world….
tbh....the movement dose not look stunning at all...especially at this price point
And the madness continued. Even with a crash 💥
watch on 1.5 speed, jesus christ
At least is waterproof?
Can yourl review the patek 5712r
I have both 5167-1A and 5712-r
they are both amazing in a different way

I would buy it at retail in a heartbeat but to me it is not worth the double.
dude why you pronounce Aquanaut that way?
Swedish pronouncination I guess 😄
No.
The fair price is what people are ready to pay for it, it only comes to what 50k represents for you, myself I am not buying a rubber strap watch at this price let alone a SS case.
Is iPone 12 worth over $1k and tons of people are still inline for it? BTW the cost is
Stupid comparison. U can’t get the watch at the retail price.
Man, can’t believe someone can be dumb enough to not be able to draw a parallel. China people, no surprise
£19530 GBP
Of course it isn't :) .. its a beautiful watch - I enjoyed my time with it ... but absolutely worth its retail price ;)
3 years later, $50k+
$50k?? You talking grey market?
Yes market price (at the time of recording)

Absolutely. I also think that many people realize that. It's also ok, I guess.
why on earth are yall calling it a 50k watch? it's a 22k watch...
Check the market :)
@@IFLWatches I own one, I know what they’re worth on secondary. But it’s a 22k watch retail…your video is misleading to people.
Bc they are scumbag grey market dealers
…yes, (and I hope this is not insulting), or you could get a Specht & Sohne Homage watch of the Aquanaut for less than $100.00 US Dollars…😊
For the serious collector an Aquanaut is a must whatever the price.
Maybe not for an amateur first watch investor...
That’s it thank you
June 2022
Aquanaut same one - 120 K
Tulip mania... Patek bubble?
the dial is a mess , look like a basket ball
it's my opinion
not for me , i have since the early 2000 , buy in second hand for 5 500 € , my nautilus 3800
McCartney wears one. End of debate.
Obviously a 50k watch is for someone for whom 50k is a fractional percent of their income/wealth. Buying to resell is also a fools errand IMO.
Nothing in this video justify the price tag except for the investment part which is just circular logic

This watch is an ogre from the front and a princess from behind.
Sounds like my Tinder dates.
Beautiful watch but not at $50k. Maybe at 25k yes
Nice piece but you could buy a better Patek watch for that price
I would pay $10,000 because it says Patek.
Definitely not. Would rather buy a Grand Seiko. They are much better quality and cheaper
🎯
That all 50,000
Try 100 now
I didn't know Trevor Noah was a watch watch dealer. Go figure 🤷♂️
😂😂😂
Ugly Watch, worthless! Rolex is 1,000 times better!
@Andrea Leonardi 😆😆😆 that’s what I thought sheeeeeesh ! 😅

Sell it but Fast and get a new car
And they don’t understand why people get rep. My MIDO Tv Big Date at 1200 is better looking and better constructed in my opinion
Looks like a cheap watch.
Ok, so this is a 'Watch Channel' but your knowledge of watchmaking is poor. Do more research when preparing videos.
Just buy a rep
If it hacks, lol
No.
