      Having experienced four versions of the Snowflake, this SBGA407 is my favorite. Grand Seiko took the time to change the case and character of the watch along with the color of the dial, and I appreciate the extra thought that gives this model its own identity.

    I got a Hulk a couple of weeks ago, I am really delighted with it.
    I went into a Mayor’s in Orlando last week and tried on a Seiko Grand Skyflake, held them side by side. I was blown away; the sweep of the second hand, the polish of the markers and hands, the depth of the dial, case finishing. Everything about it made me fall in love.
    Personally I prefer sports watches, so the gator band isn’t for me. But I absolutely encourage people to try one on. What a piece!
    Top top top brand.
    *I’m not getting paid to say this.

      I've experienced several version of the "Snowflake" by this point, but the 407 is my favorite. If I were to buy one, I'd collect some kind of water resistant strap before putting the watch into my daily rotation.

  • @CrimFerret
    @CrimFerret 4 года назад +3

    I really like the Skyflake. Grand Seiko has been doing some things with color that other makers could learn from. I much prefer this lighter blue to the usual dark midnight blue that most blue dial watches seem to me. Likewise, their light pink version of this is also pretty striking. I'm hoping the trend of doing Salmon colored dials is fading. If it looks like the color of hospital scrubs, it probably isn't a good color to use on a watch.

    • @the1916companywatchreviews
      @the1916companywatchreviews  4 года назад +1

      The Skyflake flew under the radar in 2019 to the point that I didn't encounter my first until November in Dubai. This may have been my favorite new watch of the year.

    Great collection of watches, Thanks Tim :)
    I have to say my favorites are the GS Skyflake (2020 first on the buy list) and the PP Perpetual Calendar Chronograph (kind of a grail watch)
    Much better than the last one, the quality of the pixelation wise.

    The Arnold & son UTTE: that movement is art!

    • @the1916companywatchreviews
      @the1916companywatchreviews  4 года назад +2

      Arnold & Son is the definition of an "underrated" brand. From ergonomics to materials to engineering, each Arnold & Son watch represents a potential class-leader. I'm a huge fan of the UTTE and CTB chronograph. Fun fact: I narrated the Arnold & Son "Only Watch" promo video that was shown at the auction. They asked me out of the blue if I'd be interested, and I was shocked that an OEM would reach out to a pre-owned marketer who's not an AD of the brand.

    117 is good value. JLC Duo black is the best bang for buck in used high horology. The Laurent Ferrier wins the show.

    • @the1916companywatchreviews
      @the1916companywatchreviews  4 года назад

      Yeah, low $30,000s for the Duometre is epic value considering that they cost about $52,000 new in 2013. For the money you're getting JLC's highest level of finish, and the company rarely offers that refinement on watches priced under $100,000.

    Very smart advertisement. Whatever you are doing don't change a thing. It's smart, concise and to the point. It's how advertising should be done. Oops one thing to change although you list the watches and prices it would be cool if you would list them in the order you talked about them. A cool white number on the lower screen to associate the watch to the listing. I would love to time stamp them for people who are interested in jumping to that particular watch.

    • @the1916companywatchreviews
      @the1916companywatchreviews  4 года назад +1

      We've discussed doing this for a while, and it's part of my plan going forward. At the moment, I select the watches, present the show, write the prose in the description, and dig through our inventory database to list the reference numbers and prices. Time-stamping is on the to-do list, but I need an assistant to add features beyond what's already present.

    Tim, I am looking for a affordable weeekend/jack-of-all-trades manual watch. My daily wear, because of my suited up job, is a JLC Master Grande Taille (loving it)! I was thinking of a Nomos Club Campus Nacht (the autocorrect changes to nacho, lol) but was also eyeing one of manual, used chronographes from Breitling or Zénith (prime HW). Any thoughts? ;)

    • @the1916companywatchreviews
      @the1916companywatchreviews  4 года назад

      Any of the "Caliber B02" Breitlings are a good choice. The 2019 Navitimer 1959 806 re-edition might be the perfect match for what you have in mind. There are a few Lemania 1873 Breitlings from the 1990s that offer manual chronograph action.
      Zenith's El Primero caliber 420/4020 isn't terribly common, so you might be hunting for one of those for a longer time. In any case, a manual El Primero seems unnatural, and the appearance of the movement without its winding system isn't terribly attractive; it looks like a conversion.
