JUST TWO MORE WEEKS BEFORE THE RETIRE IN THAILAND MAGAZINE WILL BE PUBLISHED ON 1st AUGUST

Because I retired to Thailand the main focus of the magazine will be on Thailand, although every month the magazine will feature other great retirement locations from around the world. Every month the magazine will recap the top stories and events that happened in Thailand the previous month as well as any news that will impact expat retirees who live or plan to live in Thailand. @@truincanada Hi I assume your talking about the DTV visa. Here's an answer that i sent to another subscriber a few days ago that might help you Cheers Ged I don't know much about the DTV visa as it's only just been released. As far as I can make out it is for digital nomads who want to make Thailand their base to work remotely and I am not sure if it covers retirees who want to spend significant time here. I did a Google search so see below what I found out. Keep in mind that what the Thai government says one day they sometimes do a U-turn the next so nothing is written in stone when it comes to Thailand rules. Perhaps you could contact the Thai embassy in London to see if the visa applies to retirees wanting to spend quality time here but not on the normal retirement visa. I hope that this helps. Cheers Ged Holders of the DTV may stay in Thailand for up to 180 days per visit and can extend the visa once per visit for a further 180 days. DTV holders can bring dependents with them on this visa, including children under 20 and spouses. The visa fee for the Thailand DTV Visa is 10,000 THB The Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) is a newly announced visa designed to support the government’s efforts to increase tourism in Thailand. It provides an incentive to foreigners that work remotely, colloquially referred to as “digital nomads”, to stay and work in Thailand for extended periods without immigration or tax concerns. If you successfully acquire a DTV, you will be rewarded with a 5-year multiple-entry visa and the right to stay in Thailand for a total of 180 days a year, with an option to extend for another 180 days. This is the perfect kind of visa if you’re looking to experience the Land of Smiles as a remote worker and earn income without the many restrictions and drawbacks of standard tourist visas. How Much Does a Thailand DTV Visa Cost? The Destination Thailand Visa costs 10,000 THB. Eligibility Requirements for the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) While details regarding how to apply for a Destination Thailand Visa are still pending, some information on the requirements you need to fulfill has already been released. You need to meet the following eligibility requirements for the visa (subject to change): You must be at least 20 years old. You must have enough money to pay for the visa fee. You must prove that you possess at least 500,000 THB in your bank account to support your stay in the country. You must provide proof of employment with a registered company. If you’re a remote worker or digital nomad looking to maximize your journey while also having the option to work during your stay.

    Hi Ged. I enjoy your videos and like the information. You talk about having three pensions to live on, are they more combined than the Australian pension. I plan to move there in about two years when I retire. I see a lot of videos where they talk about how much you need and it is often more than the Australian pension. I will only have the pension to live on there and a little savings as I went broke a few years ago so I hope it’s enough. But the alternative is trying to to live here in Australia on the pension which would be much worse. Do you think the Australian pension is enough.

    • @thailandmyland...retiringd2351
      @thailandmyland...retiringd2351 10 дней назад

      Hi, Mark thanks for your input. I have an Australian pension and a UK pension from when I lived in the UK. I also have a small Merchant Navy pension. I try to live my life on my pensions and not dig into my savings or investments on a month-to-month basis. I live well and most months I don't spend all of my pension income and I try to save some for when I want to do a trip around Thailand, go back to visit my family in Australia or if I need a big ticket item. Most months I live on around 50,000 baht which is about AU$2,000. Of course that is just basic living expenses, rent, food, electric and water utilities, petrol, entertainment and going out, and mobile phone charges. It would all depend on your outlook on life and what you like to do in your spare time. If you live frugally not cheaply you can live on your Australian pension. But that would not include medical insurance, upkeep of a car, travelling for holidays around Thailand or returning to Australia occasionally. I would suggest that you try to come to Thailand and spend a few months here before making the big move to check everything out price-wise and try to live on what your pension income will be to see if your pension alone will be enough to live on. Your money will obviously stretch much further here than it will in Australia as the cost of living has skyrocketed there over the years. I am starting a magazine on retiring in Thailand that may help you. The first issue will be published on the 1st of August. Here's a link to a video about it. Good luck with your eventual move. Hi Ged, great video as usual. I've been watching your videos for a long time but never commented. May I ask a question on something not related to your latest video? What do you know about the brand new visa they are calling the DTV VISA. My wife and I are considering retiring there from the UK part of every year. As I understand it, the new visa is similar to the European visa where uk residents can visit for up to 6 months per every calendar year. Allan

    • @thailandmyland...retiringd2351
      @thailandmyland...retiringd2351 16 дней назад

      Hi Alan thanks for your support I appreciate it. . I don't know much about the DTV visa as it's only just been released. If you’re a remote worker or digital nomad looking to maximize your journey while also having the option to work during your stay, the Destination Thailand Visa is created specifically for you. It is also a perfect fit if you are visiting Thailand to participate in the following activities: Muay Thai Thai cuisine Education and seminars Sports Medical treatment Foreign talent Events related to art and music

      Thank you Ged. I really appreciate your reply and attached info. This could be the perfect fit for ourselves as we are still in our 50's and would still need to earn a few penny's while travelling round. Once again thanks, and thanks for all your videos. They really help our decision with the big leap of following our dreams. I will do as you have suggested contacting the Thai embassy in a couple of weeks time, hopefully they would have crossed all the tee's by then. Allan 👍

      Hi Des. I am glad that you enjoyed the video and that it was useful to you. Regarding the weather it depends on where you are heading. Generally the wet season is between July and October Down south in places like Koh Samui it can sometimes extend into November. It's also hard to predict the weather patterns as in Phuket a few days ago they had heavy flooding which is unusual for June. Keep in mind October will be a little cheaper but November will be the start of the high season (November until March) and the cost of hotels will be more expensive. I look forward to catching up in person on your visit. Cheers Ged

Regarding the cameras resolution it's a GoPro and when I bought it it was fantastic. Unfortunately like me it's getting on in age and I have been doing this channel for 3 years without making 1 cent from the channel but it costs me a lot of money to make the videos for travel and other related expenses. So I make do with what equipment I have. I am starting a magazine on living in Thailand in August which will be better for me at my age than trying to make a RUclips channel work for me. Hi Nigel having lived in Middlesbrough for my formative years sunny is not a word I usually associate with the boro but good luck if it's shining. Long term rentals are no problem in small towns like Ban Krut as they cater more for locals and are not inundated with tourists pushing up the prices. The town does seem to be growing as each time I go new accommodation outlets are being built but it's still uncrowded though the weekends and Buddhist holidays can get busy. Hi Stuart. Thanks for your input. I have lived here for 7 years now and in all of that time I have never felt threatened or even seen a fight. It does happen in places like Pattaya but that's usually drunken farang fighting amongst themselves or with the locals but when they fight with the locals they invariably come off second best. You can leave your motorbike with your helmet and bags of shopping parked and when you come back everything is still there. Many shops and bars close up for the night by just dropping a blind with no locks to stop people entering and the next day everything is still there. You can't do that in western countries. The Buddhist religion is a very passive religion and children are taught from birth that if they do good in this life then they will have a better life in the next life. Whereas from what I see the Islamic religion is built on aggression where men rule with an iron fist and any other religion is not tolerated. I am not a Buddhist but I am welcomed into their temples with smiles. T
