Hi Jed, I just got back (UK) after 2 months on the islands, with wife. Some beaches seem spotless, but there's no escaping, some are terrible. It seems much worse during stormy weather. We always collect as much as we could carry when leaving, it is hardly making any difference, but you can only do, what you can. And there are hardly any bins on the beaches. Best wishes

Hi Tony. Yes many of the popular beaches are clean because they are taken care of by the hotels or restaurants that sit behind the beach. The problem is many local governments don’t take on the responsibility in cleaning the more secluded beaches with no hotels or restaurants on them. Here in Prachuap Khiri Khan they closse the beaches on Wednesdays for cleaning so that’s a good way to do it. People can still go to the beach and enjoy the sea and sand but restaurants and bars on the beach must close.
      Cheers

I’m surprised Indonesia is not on the list . The amount washed up on Australian beaches is unbelievable.Australian cold drink cans and bottles have a 10c refund and people collect them for the money. So many people and so much rubbish! Thanks Ged for the reminder .

I remember living in Adelaide in 1977. There was a 5 cent deposit on beer bottles. If you bought a carton of beer from a bottle shop you could take the empties back in the box and got $1.20 off your next carton and the majority of people did it. Shame that the rest of the world didn't do it.

Hello Jed, can you do a video on the water shortage there in Hua Hin? Other RUclipsrs say they are leaving because of it, not sure if they are flakes or it's areal issue and Hua Hin is on my visit list for next fall, Thanks in advance.

A very overlooked problem that definitely can be improved upon. Unfortunately, Thailand like the US is very short sighted and environmental improvements are near the bottom of priorities, much like social services.
Btw....not sure if you recall but I met you briefly in hua hin recently at a night market. You were very kind to stop and chat with me. I ended up going to sam roi yot national park a day or so later and sprained both my ankles and spent the rest of my trip limping around in pain 😢

Hi Keith. Sure I remember but it was at Ban Khun Por not the night market. Pollution is a big problem worldwide, unfortunately, and I find the biggest polluters are the younger people who scream about saving the planet and then destroy it by leaving their plastic bottles, bags and food containers wherever they go.
Sorry to hear about your injury in Sam Roi Yot it would have spoilt your holiday having to limp around in the heat and not partake in the activities that you planned. Never mind theres always next time
      Safe travels
      Cheers
