  • A question that I am often asked on this channel is how much it costs to live in Thailand. Well, how long is a piece of string? So, my answer is…it depends on where you want to live, and how you intend to live your life in retirement. I know people who through necessity, live on virtually nothing. But I also know people who live in exclusive upscale apartments or houses with a large disposable income and live their lives to the fullest. The next few videos will help you to understand how much it would cost to live here on an average Western pension. Part one of the video will cover renting or buying a house or a condo in Thailand.
    Part two will cover:
    • How Much Will You Pay for Electricity and Water?
    • How Much Does It Cost to Buy a Car or A Motorbike Here?
    • The Cost of Flights Petrol and Bus Journeys
    • How Much Will Your Monthly Mobile Phone Cost Be?
    • The Cost of Eating Out
    • The Cost of Groceries

Nice video yes Thailand is a good place to spend the hard earned gold cions.
But i think living in a small condo would be a bit cramped after a while.
I think a small town house with a bigger kitchen and a small garden would be beter .
But i understand with the pool and the gym it has its benefits.

The average thai is not on minimum wage. What most people call a nice car here is even more expensive in thailand then in most western countries.

    Great video Ged.
Do I need to go through a Real Estate agency or contact the properties directly.
I'm based in the UK on NHS and get free monthly prescriptions. How would a 70yo say get on in Hua Hin from a health perspective? Are you able to do a video on this subject?

Hi Its quite complicated. Foreigners are allowed to buy real estate if they form a limited company apart from that they can only buy a condo if 51% of the owners in the block are Thai. I know nothing about starting a limited company so I cant help you there. I have never used a letting agent I always go to the online apps Baht and Sold and Facebook Marketplace Thailand. As for health perspective I did a video on health insurance a little while ago and here is the link.I decided not to take health insurance as I am very fit with no medical problems and I pay as I go if I need medical or dental care. I hope that it helps. studio.ruclips.net/user/videoMCXIh5RZ4_s/edit

Yeah the bottom line is if an Aussie retiree who wants to live in Thailand and not be confined to quarters you need at least $AU1000pw so you can explore everything that Thailand has to offer .
BUT I agree you can do it cheaper
Visa changes over the past 48hours all should look into as it’s favourable to westerners …

Hi mate. If you think that you need Au$1,000 a week to live a good life here you are very much mistaken. I live a great life and live on half of that. Everyone is different with different expectations. But I have lived in many other countries and I live a great life here for a fraction of what it would cost me in other countries that I have lived in, Australia, the UK or the USA to name a few, and I travel throughout Thailand regularly without having to worry about money.
      Cheers

Yeah I commented half way through your stream …
Still watching the other half and the bit where you say get a cheap apartment so you can use the difference to travel
      Good idea 👍
The 1k I’m referring to is pretty much no expenses barred
All good especially now Visa requirements are changing
