Crossfire XR Control Setup with JoyToKey Utility
You guys have been asking me for an upload explaining how I set up the JoyToKey utility to conveniently control my Crossfire XR table.
I finally took the time and just did it...Please excuse the poor "one evening after work" video quality...

I cant type it in as the Joytokey selects the keyboard key I press when I try to type “button 30”.. I’m scrolling through settings to try and figure it out, but thought I’d ask.. that way I’m sure to discover the answer right after I hit send on this question. Again… thank you for your efforts

    Sorry for bringing up this old thread but do you have a ballpark idea of how much more AR500 plate is than regular mild steel? I know steel prices right now are really high but in general is it 2x more, 3x more, 20% more? I'm in the military stationed overseas so i can't just stop by and ask a dealer. I am retiring after this assignment. I grew up on a farm and have always enjoyed tinkering. I have been designing a couple of tractor and skid steer attachments that i plan to build and a lot of companies use AR500 for the high stress areas of grapple buckets. Saw your video so i thought I'd ask.

    • @joshuazimmerman8631

    • @joshuazimmerman8631
      @joshuazimmerman8631 2 года назад

      I ran the program with old consumables first to pierce all the places and then I put in new consumables and re-ran the program with almost no pierce delay since the holes were already there. Probably a MAG drill would be a better idea if you knew exactly every place it was going to pierce.... Also, I'm interested in this table. Are you still using it and what do you think? Thanks

    Stoopid question here but it seems to my simple mind that plasma cutting and water shouldn't mix. You'd think that water hitting the tip would cause some kind of short cirtuit?

    What was your pierce delay set to in this cut. Love your videos brother, they have helped me a ton!

      With a Hypertherm 85, you should be able to set your pierce delay around one second on half inch steel... I'm glad you like the videos, I just don't have very much time to make more....

    Whats your setting for cutting 3/16 ? Lead in and out

    • @joshuazimmerman8631
      @joshuazimmerman8631 3 года назад

      I vary my lead-ins and lead outs depending on my hole size. Typically I like a small radius to get similar effect as an over cut....

    You're getting super clean cuts. I see your IPM speed but what amps and airflow? I'm getting quite a bit of taper in my holes.

    • @joshuazimmerman8631
      @joshuazimmerman8631 3 года назад

      I always run 85 amps unless I'm doing very thin material or using fine cut consumables. As far as air flow, shop air is at 120 PSI and I let the internal regulator of the Hypertherm 85 take care of the rest.

    Is there any advantage in using the Hypertherm 85 over say a 45XP for these type of thin sheet metal applications?

    • @joshuazimmerman8631
      @joshuazimmerman8631 3 года назад

      No, the 45 XP is a very capable machine. The 85s advantage is only in thick metals. We cut mostly half inch and up so a 45 would be a bit underpowered...

    can you use the hypertherm 85 with 220v

      Yes, it's the largest plasma available for 240v single phase.

    Did you use font from fusion 360 on this, i get tired of using fonts that I have to bridge manually so the centers of letters dont fall through.

    • @joshuazimmerman8631
      @joshuazimmerman8631 3 года назад

      Yes I have many different stencil fonts installed on my computer and if you pay attention to the type of font, they will show up in Fusion 360. The font you see here doesn't have any manual bridging done...

      @@joshuazimmerman8631 I assume these are downloaded in addition to the default fonts on 360.....or am I just not seeing them in the font library?

    • @joshuazimmerman8631
      @joshuazimmerman8631 3 года назад

      @@Welder6131 Yes I scoured the internet for free stencil type fonts that I could download and install on my Windows machine. It seemed that, for every three that I would find, two were unusable or otherwise did not work. The type of stencil lettering I'm really after just needs to be very legible from a long distance, so all the drippy, droopy, curvy, artsy stuff doesn't work all that well for my needs.

  • @Welder6131
    @Welder6131 3 года назад

    Have not tried fine cut consumables yet. Do you find they are worth it when doing lettering etc on thin material?

    • @joshuazimmerman8631
      @joshuazimmerman8631 3 года назад

      In my opinion, they are absolutely worth it for lettering and so forth. They can only be used at 45 amps max, and a maximum material thickness of 10 or 11 gauge. I use them whenever I can.

      @@joshuazimmerman8631 Good to know, i see a lot of people using them for art, signs, etc but never truly knew if they did that well of a job compared to standard electode and tips. I appriciate your videos on the Langmuir and hypertherm, they are by far the best on YT.
