Sweet video. Very helpful. I’ve had great success with the standard cut , but I am switching to fine cut for smaller signs with small letters. I think this will be much better.
Thanks for the video josh. I just ordered this machine and a hypertherm 65. Do you prefer the full height machine torch to the mini? It looks like you tried both. Thanks again!!
I got the mini machine torch for when I had the original crossfire with the cantilevered arm design. I was trying to put as little weight out there as possible. My mini machine torch was also only 15 ft long. When I got the Crossfire Pro, the 15-ft length didn't let me put my Hypertherm 85 back to the wall. If the mini would have been 25 ft long, I would still be using it, because the function is exactly the same...
In my opinion, they are absolutely worth it for lettering and so forth. They can only be used at 45 amps max, and a maximum material thickness of 10 or 11 gauge. I use them whenever I can.
@@joshuazimmerman8631 Good to know, i see a lot of people using them for art, signs, etc but never truly knew if they did that well of a job compared to standard electode and tips. I appriciate your videos on the Langmuir and hypertherm, they are by far the best on YT.
Yes I have many different stencil fonts installed on my computer and if you pay attention to the type of font, they will show up in Fusion 360. The font you see here doesn't have any manual bridging done...
@@Welder6131 Yes I scoured the internet for free stencil type fonts that I could download and install on my Windows machine. It seemed that, for every three that I would find, two were unusable or otherwise did not work. The type of stencil lettering I'm really after just needs to be very legible from a long distance, so all the drippy, droopy, curvy, artsy stuff doesn't work all that well for my needs.
I have cut eighth, quarter, and half inch aluminum. Aluminum doesn't give a nice edge when cut with plasma; it's relatively coarse and jagged. Somewhere I have a video of a tree stand platform I cut out of 1/2" 6160, but I wasn't impressed with the results so I never uploaded it....😁

What size NEMA motors are on that plasma table?

@@joshuazimmerman8631 awesome thanks for the info!!! You’re a very helpful guy:)
@@joshuazimmerman8631you can convert the full size to a mini very easily.
Have not tried fine cut consumables yet. Do you find they are worth it when doing lettering etc on thin material?

Did you use font from fusion 360 on this, i get tired of using fonts that I have to bridge manually so the centers of letters dont fall through.

@@joshuazimmerman8631 I assume these are downloaded in addition to the default fonts on 360.....or am I just not seeing them in the font library?

Have you tried to cut .250 aluminum? If so how'd it do ?

I personally think that Langmuir puts out an amazing table for the money, but I hear that the lead times are pretty long...
@@joshuazimmerman8631 what software do you recommend?

I use Fusion 360 for everything. It fits well with my workflow and I also use it for creating models for 3D printing...
