  • I got out a fresh sheet of 24 inch by 48 inch half inch thick mild steel for this nest of foot pad anchoring plates. Pierce delay 1 second. 35 IPM feed rate. Beautiful results. This Hypertherm 85 / Langmuir Systems combo is a workhorse!

i have the same set up but a hypertherm 65, cut results are great i just feel like the water table needs to be within another table to catch all the spillover, and possibly pump back up to the main table

This looks great for home use, I am guessing there would be no comparison between the the HYPOTHERM Mechanical and the Razor cut 45?? Please comment..
Also that is a great achievement cutting 1/2" plate in your back yard, but it does look messy and I bet the neighbours wouldn't be happy with the noise?

I personally think that Hypertherm is king in this size range, from 45 to 125 amps. From watching the forums, I have learned that lots of problems originate from other brand plasma cutters. I know that Hypertherm is more expensive but in the long run it is much cheaper.
As far as the noise and mess, this table is in a commercial shop, so noise is just another part of the day and the mess is well within reason for what this table does for us...

I purchased a cutter with crossfire and the water table and I have 2 questions? 1st what software program do You use? 2nd is there something that I need to add to the water when I use the cutter? It is a Razorweld 45

I use Fusion 360 because almost everything I do is dimensional components, which Fusion does very well. For artwork, people recommend Inkscape and SheetCAM.

Great videos Josh! Can you tell me what your settings were? The pierce height, lead in, amps ect. I'm still using the old crossfire table, thanks again!

I generally run at 85 amps for all but the thinnest metals. Obviously, I run 45 amps with the FineCut consumables. My favorite feed rate on half inch is 45 IPM. Pierce time of one second or so, and lead in and lead out of an eighth to a quarter inch, depending on how much room I have. I also like a small 1/16 or 1/8 radius on my lead in and lead out.

@@joshuazimmerman8631 could you help me make a decision? Or give me some advice to help me make a decision? I am in the March batch of Crossfire Pros I have a Miller 625 which says it'll do 625000 and I say not a chance :-) I am wanting to get a hypertherm and I am torn between the 45 and 65. But you keep showing up with an 85 :-) I could possibly swing the money for one of them which one do you think I should get? I plan on doing some half inch. But don't know most of its going to be quarter 3/16, and 1/8 of an inch. What would you recommend I know everybody's going to say get an 85 if you can afford it I can't afford it but is it going to be way over kill? And does anybody know if the Miller 625 will cut like a 85 or close to it? On a CNC?

Hypertherm makes amazing plasma cutters in my honest opinion. You would be happy with any of them; 45XP, 65 or 85. however, you absolutely do not need an 85 or even a 65 for half inch steel. In fact, if you can afford a Hypertherm 45 XP, that is a lot of plasma for the price and it will do half inch all day everyday.
Consumables are easy to find and you can buy it with a CPC port that makes it CNC ready; you would never regret it....

Absolutely no complaints... Table size can restrict you at times, but I really appreciate the open gantry. The machine has been rock solid and I have run a lot of steel through it. I doubt it was intended to be paired to a 85 amp machine though...😎

  • @theboilershop1728

I am sure your nesting and programing is good but try and start your lead in @the top this will reduce distortion as the lead out will finish in the solid material rather than the flopy off cut. Thanks for sharing.

    • @joshuazimmerman8631

Where the lead in starts and ends is entirely dictated on which piece of the metal is my final product. But yes, I agree, nesting and programming is half the battle....
