I'm really liking the setup you have now. Glad to see the KLR, foams and shocks improved the performance. I've been taking notes and it will help with my Capra build! Thanks for sharing!
I notice a 100% improvement from the light weight challenge video. I have one on the way. Can't wait. I like what I've seen so far. Awesome video. Thanks .
Any 90mm shock with the right oil and spring set up will give the same result. Nothing magical there. I’ll stick with Crawler Innovations foams. Eddie is an OG Crawler and all around good guy. Holmes Hobbies! What can you say, a pillar of the crawling community and again, a great guy. I’ve been waiting on a Shifts RC servo, but I might have to pick up one of the Reef’s 444. Glad to see your happy with your Capra.
Dezfan yep it’s finally close to where I want it. Pretty much yeah any decent 90mm shock can do this, heck the stock shocks with the pen spring or an internal limiter should be able to get this done as well. As far as CI foams go, you know I run them in everything except for the light vehicles. I’ve never had a Shifts servo but right now I’ve had several reefs and never a failure so I’m staying with them and have another 555 on order for the rear steer on this truck.
What an improvement , that suspension is awesome. I may have to check them out. I just got the king shocks for my bronco and was going to get some desert lizard for my daughter's gen8 but will definitely give these a look
Yeah and the tires KLR/M's they are my go too tire, I have the same tire and rim, the rims are awesome, three bolts tire on back on the road. Awesome rig dude, appreciate you sharing. I'll be watching for more
Holmes makes some awesome motors. My 2700kv puller pro is buttery smooth even with a 13t, 11t is stock, pinion gear on 3s. Castle logs show it has pulled up to 1,100 watts, but that's rare because it just doesn't get the load. It's a shame they don't make longer shocks, cause I'm plenty happy with the traxxas gts 90mm shocks and looking to try out some 110mm shocks. Food for thought, I calculated that a 110mm shock will be nearly identical compressed in the furthest top mount to the 90mm version. It is only 10mm longer compressed, but moving the top of the shock over 35mm allows the 75mm to be 66.3mm from the top of the tower collapsed which is nearly identical to the stock 65mm. Offsetting the shock 35mm gives 104.3mm of downtravel with the 110mm shock, so you actually gain 3mm of travel by offsetting the shock 35mm but more importantly the suspension can still compress to its natural position with the much longer shock.
Excellent video! 2 Thumbs up and happy you finally are liking it now. I love mine! I just feel bad for my other trucks now. I feel their resentment towards the Capra. Haha.
TrailCrawler 203 LoL yeah it took me a while and several “what not to do” videos to get this thing where it needs to be. Still gotta get the belly sorted out, 4ws and I think I can get more steering out of the front axle too. Was looking at that tonight. Also have a printed piece from Spare Time Hobbies to put on it. The much larger receiver box/fuel cell thing.
I use Mobil-1 synthetic 75/90wt gear lube in both my TRX4 and my Rustler VXL shocks. It works GREAT in both as well as the VXL's open differentials. And since I had 3/4 of a quart already in my garage the price can't be beaten.
I have these too and am currently doing the capra build and just installed them. Someone mentioned these are 7mm shorter than the stock capra shocks and that I'll get less travel than if I used the icons. Did you see any issues there?
RC Girl the shorter shocks help keep the suspension from dropping out so far the chassis gets off balance. I’ve had nothing but good results out of these. Now if I were U4 racing I’d run the stock shocks and let the axles move as much as possible. I got the 70wt in these and it’s good on the rocks but too stiff for bashing around. I’d say 50wt would be better for all around use.
I have been running 60 wt oil from the beginning....there is a big differenct ...got the 4ws done had to cut back cage odd and mod back of reciever box...works great....
Tom Andrews yeah I’ve got 4ws stuff on the way for mine. Also yeah I’ll have to cut the back of the cage for it. Which servo did you go with? I have another Reefs 555 on the way for that.
@@ExocagedRC JX CLSHV7346 I have had good experience with this servo have same in front ....from parts list I compiled I missed the counter sink screws for servo mount and screws for rod ends....I did use Axial servo arms ...
Tom Andrews oh man. I have 3 of the JX46kg 12v servos and they suck. The ones I wasted money on will time out and just drift to neutral and then when they feel like it they will set and start working again. I won’t ever buy another jx servo. These 3 I have will end up being winches and given away.
Curious as to why use shorter shocks with less travel when it seems to me as I drive my capra the extra travel that it has and my enduro doesn’t have is really beneficial.
Definitely agree that there's been a major improvement in its behavior. I guess as a crawler it needs to be setup more like one. They tend to use soft springs and heavier oil to control the articulation. Cant help but wonder if u straight limited the axial shocks and put 70wt in if it'd be a similar story. Does it have a lower ride height now than with the axial shock? That lower center of gravity would be a huge advantage as well. As you say, it's not heavy enough to compress the tires, or I'd imagine the coils either, which is why it was so eager to unload on climbs. Regardless, it's an improvement, well done :D
What about a longer shock (100mm, maybe more), but with the heavy oil for the dampening effect, but with relatively light springs (or dual rate) so you get enough droop so it doesn't sit too high and you get more extension travel e.g. when a front wheel is over an edge and you're looking for it to grab on somewhere?
well the issue with this one is it unloads up front really fast and the chassis is a bit heavy and over it goes, so basically I'm trying to keep it under control and keep the COG down on climbs.
@@ExocagedRC Yes, for the COG considerations I was thinking something like the pen spring or anything else for droop, but with a longer shock body to be able to have room to spare on both ends (both compression and extension). I'm probably just going to spend a bunch of money and mess around trying to optimize it to my liking. SWMBO shall roll her eyes... :)
At the begining i did not like that rig just changhed my mind .well the way you set it up .. !( but honestly that rig would look better with reservoir on the shocks

Since the Capra came out I've been telling myself I don't need one. Your videos are making it harder to tell myself that.
michael keefer 😂 glad to be of service!
You need one. Just go ahead
I'm two years late, so I hope you have the Capra by now! Lol
The capra is pretty much the king of the mountain with that oil.
Moves effortless with great capability...thats what you get with great products and tuning...looks awesome.👍
Really fun how you can show the differences between all the setups, throughout all the videos! Great video, have a great day!!
Adidas Trev thank you for watching them, yeah man this truck still has a little ways to go but it’s getting there.
You really have that thing dialed in! Fantastic job building it!!!
Kurt Stuffy still working on it, it’s not 100% yet

The capra seems to get better on the rocks everytime you upgrade it ! This set up is fire

I just ordered that shocks for my custom Truggy project, first time ordering OTTSIX Voodoo shocks,
I hope I don´t regret the purchase later

Nice controlled movement from the shocks with that oil. Might give something similar a shot. Love what your doin with the Capra.
WildWestRCCrawlers pretty sure you can get very similar results with the stock shocks with pen spring mod and thick oil.
Ace video. Loving your style, dude. Very entertaining, and great to see that Capra once again. Look forward to more!
Got a few things lined up for it plus some good ole bashing.
Well, it seems like you found a sweet spot in the setup. Well done!
Baxrok2 yes, it sure took me a while to get it

That is so cool. I'm getting one as soon as I get home from work in Alaska.
that low belly seems to be the limiting factor now, im looking forward to you working that out
Ed H. Yeah Bowhouse nailed it with the Gen8 skid. Hopefully they can do the same with this.
Yeah looks like performing perfect. I run 80 wait oil in my shocks on my pro
Too easy for capra! 💪. I see the diference on torque twist. With this shocks works a lot better! Kutqw!
I’m really liking those tyres.

Terrence Onmin YES!! It took me a while and all it really needs now is a belly, 4ws and some Vitavon CNC aluminum.

So just need a bellypan and then we have the Axial Capra Exo-Edition! I'll take one!
The Houleigan LoL I’ve had some trial and errors with this one but it’s getting close!
Boy you really got that truck dialed in. Which I could afford those wheels and tires. Did the shocks make a big difference ?? Thanks for the videos.
Can you tell me about the yellowish jack stands you have all your trucks sitting on? Did you 3D print those?
great videos on the capra you have been doing. Question, is this rig weighted at all or are you running it "stock"?? thx Keep up the good work man!
i asked too soon! LOL 9min in i think you answered my question. cant wait to see where you end up going on this rig.
Fun_Adventures Never_End currently there are no added weights anywhere. The wheels add some over the stock plastic.
How are the shocks holding up? Any leaks? I just built a vanquish ultra and the 2 of the 4 incision shocks are leaking.
Nice video.. with brass on wheels it will be even better..
Gustavo Royo Ribeiro when I see brass available for the portal boxes I’ll have it.
@@ExocagedRC I was thinking about brass on capone wheels.
Have you tried the newer Voodoo shocks?
How well does the reefs dig servo work when you got the rig in a bit of a bind?
It locks and unlocks under load really well. No issues at all so far
Take a lot from this video. Thanks!
Which exact klr did u run. In the link it shows different tire.
Can you test the capra with your hobbywing 2300kv. I wonder how fast it is.
MolocHlevel30 I’m really trying to not do brushless on it but I do have a 2300 Axe in another truck I can take out and try.
I'm really debating if to get some 2.2 or 1.9 tires for my capra 🤔, any suggestions
Unless you stretch it like it did, the 2.2’s just look too big. I like the 1.9’s on mine more than the 2.2’s
What did you use for the spacer on the rear
I had some left over spacers and just put them in place. You can even stack washers if you need to.
I love running 70wt. And the locals normal run 30 ish
Are you using stock gearing?
I have 50 weight shock oil in my ryft im building.
So you used 70 weight oil??
Yes and it worked great on rocks, not so great on fast stuff
Exocaged RC that’s really surprising!!
Do they still make these shocks. Been out of stock for awhile now.
I’ve no idea on that. Haven’t looked in a long time.
Has anyone tried the new Ottsix shocks? They leak like crazy on me. Any suggestions? It’s only 2 of the 4 . So wondering if I have a defective pair
How much cost is in it at the moment
Do you put weights in the tires?
CrashFPV I don’t put weights in any of my tires
Do you use vegetable oil in those shocks 😜
Gregory Jowers nope! I use Sherwin Williams clear enamel. Works great!😂
@@ExocagedRC Acrylic or synthetic? Hahahaha.....
50$ for a pair is too much, I'd rather go with the desert lizards

Manuel Chaidez I’d like to see some with all the bypasses and stuff and have them be legit adjustable.

Kenneth Maneeley oh yeah for sure. You may need spacers for some applications and these are a bit expensive but yeah huge upgrade for the Gen8
Stock shocks looked HORRIBLE
