I set mine up the same way except I didn’t trim the flare off I just put the spacer in from the bottom so the flare is under the actuator arm, essentially being captured. It’s a great little servo for sure!!
Great video I followed it couldn’t be happier now I use the dig function! The spectrum servo and its saver no matter how I set it always had to rock back forth to get dig to engage and disengage
@@ExocagedRC at 10:45 would have been a good time for free spin if you had it and engaged it the truck might have set front tires back down and would have kept you off your lid. If you just locked rear tires it still might have flipped you need the back wheels to lose traction for a second for the front to sit back down.
Hoping to have a contender if I can get to my 1st Axialfest at the end of June. Let's hope life gets back to normal and we can all get together for a crawl.😁
I think the single best thing I did when setting up my dig servo was installing the arm on the servo but not installing the pin to connect it to the transmission yet. First I eye balled it and made sure that the end points were at least close. I errored on the side of " not far enough ", that way I would not burn up the servo when installing. Then once I knew I was close by eyeballing it, I installed the pin and set the final precise end point.
@@ExocagedRC just slapped mine in and now trying to wrangle the endpoints on the GT5, its not doing what I expect it to do and of course work bubbles up argh
learning curve... the suggestion below on keeping the pin and screw out to get set up is great. fsgt5 center position is not adjusttable so you have to get the trans in neutral and then set the arm/pin while the thing is in center position. the end points can be done before hand then fine tuned. this servo is hella strong. if you are not set right you can twist the body out of shape lol
Thank you for the up and close details of the function of servo. Is it difficult to set up 3 position on dig servo for 4x4, Front wheel drive with rear free wheel, and rear lock?
Maybe I’m just lucky but I’ve been running my standard GT3C receivers at higher voltage and haven’t had any problems yet and they’re even coded in conformal coating
Been running the $15 spektrum one with saver. I have the endpoints and trim perfect. It’s weird though. I can’t get into fwd from 4wd. I have to go 4wd to dig then to fwd. but I can go fwd to 4wd or dig. It goes in and out of dig and 4wd fairly easily. I already have about 15 hours of use through the Capra and I use dig a lot... I did grease all the dig splines.
Woohoo, unexpected Xmas bonus means Capra kit for me. Going Reefs servos F&R +dig. Already bought a second FS GT5 for a hobbywing mini brushless and 1080 Mod I was planning for my SCX24 Hammer. Looking at the G3 pro 17.5T brushless and the Xerun G2 ESC combo.
You got the long axe550 in a Capra? I barely got a Holmes Crawlmaster Pro 550 in mine and it took link mount trimming to fit it. The axe550 is way longer than that.
Not sure on that but it has lower latency, so it’s faster reacting. I do like the GT 5 but can’t run it on a truck with 4ws or a winch due to no momentary switches. I’ve been using it on the trucks without winches and am liking it plus the receiver is HV so that’s a plus.
I have mine set up on a momentary switch that way there is almost no chance of it getting accidentally engaged and sitting there trying to burn I have mine set to my channel 3 on my hat GT3C so in order to have dig functionality I have to manually hold a button Ian release the button and it automatically unlocks
i have the stocck dig servo on my kit and i been wondering if theres any way to keep the servo from throwing to the right when i turn the trucck on and i see you have the same issue even with the reefs. just wish there was a fix
With some radios like the hacked Flysky Gt3c the radio turns on and it goes into the neutral position. Love that feature but this one doesn’t do that so a little precaution is needed to keep things alive.
If you have the same gt5 radio I didn't like that it would try go straight to dig when I powered on the truck so i reversed the channel and then set the end points and it fixed that problem. It was the same way with one of the servos on my trx. So if you want the truck to power on with one of the servos the opposite way reverse the channel and then set end points.
How warm does your Reefs99 Dig Servo get? I’m using the factory Servo saver and set endpoints so there is no stall or even real tension (minimum level for engagement) I’d say less tension than you have but no matter the position the Servo case gets warm after 5-10min.
I was wondering what radio do you suggest for a trx4.with two speed and locking diffs.i want to upgrade but not shore witch one to get.i do have the gt5
Thank you Joe, looks pretty straight forward. When my stock capra servo quits I will definitely be upgrading to the Reefs 99

I definitely need one of these for my Capra. Thanks for the video!
Took me forever, but I got all 3 positions. I use the dig with free wheel a little more than the lockout because of our steep inclines.
I haven’t found a consistent use for the freewheel position yet.
Same for me.

I am also running the Reefs 99 and love it. When to dig and when not to dig? That is the question!

Great video spot on!
What should be the temperature on the servo?
It needs that servo for sure
"Now that's what I call the nasty" 🤣😂 that was a solid chuckle 😂

Yep it’s so easy to kill a servo like this with 100% throw. Poof dead in 20 seconds or less.
love that trans! no neutral setting?
yeah you can get neutral

Lolol i love this man I'm a total freak about end points im always preaching to people about setting end points lol
End points are critical in these things.
Awesome vid! Thanks exo!
Gonna have to try this on my Capra. Stock servo blew out in a few minutes.
Best servo on the market for the dig on the Capra.
I've killed 2 stock ones. Time to upgrade to the 99!

Same setup I’m running in both my Capras and my scx10.3 other then I’m using the jx hv1151mg micro servos.
I’ve heard good things about the jx micro servos.
Exocaged RC so far I really like them and they can take 8.4v. Perfect for running with the axe systems
gotta get me one now should be good in the hobao and you should review the dc1 :)
Exactly what I needed to see. 👍
Also. Did that long bolt, nut, and spacer come with your capra kit version you had. I can't seem to find mine.
It was in the rtr. Pretty sure it’s the same in the kit as well. You can use any 2.5mm. Bolt you have so long as it’s long enough
I'm so pumped to finally put dig in my capra but I wanted to wait till you showed how you did it.
Garrett Campbell I tried to be detailed on the install. Hopefully it was enough.
@@ExocagedRC 👍you the man

Most likely under bind the saver just isn’t strong enough.
Exocaged RC even not under bind when it’ll freely move in and out. It’s like the servo has one trim from 4wd and another from dig. Lol.
Could you set that dig channel to a 3 position switch, and perhaps have a center position so that the rear tires “free wheel”?

Amain is going to love me, ha.
LOL use my links!!
i recomend you put a axe 550 in that beach. i got one in mine and its oh so sweet. i got the treal metal skid too and the trans housing

Exocaged RC yep I cut off one side of the link mount. It just fit. Have to cut it so it’s not double sheer any,ore just single sheer mounted

My reefs 555 will be here next week mt trx 4 is waiting
Hope Reefs Servos will get an Europe Distributor soon... They look very durable...
Its a rebrand, check it out they probably offer it where your at
You can order one from Amazon look up AGF A20
@@northsandiegorc4248 Thank you...
Now THAT was a Great cup of coffee! Thanx Joe! ~;+}>
Ugh my screws that hold the skid to the chassis keep stripping and now IDK what do since they're countersunk...
Will the micro 99s work for the trx4/6 diffs and shift
Several have made them work in there but the micro 99 is about 6mm taller than the stock Traxxas micro servos.
I burned up the first servo I put in for my dig 😭 Wish I had watched this first!

What kind of contraption you got going on the remotes steering wheel ? ?
A printed piece for one handed driving.
trx4 installed
I’d love to get u to help me get mine setup like yours. I’m not savvy enough to do all that... least not without supervision!
I was wondering what radio do you suggest for a trx4.with two speed and locking diffs.i want to upgrade but not shore witch one to get.i do have the gt5
The gt5 can handle it. Some buttons can be a bit awkward but it will work all the features.
Exocaged RC .nice.i appreciate it.love the channel and all of your videos.💪
I have a WL toys 144001 buggy that has a micro servo init for steering, I bet the Reef's would be a better servo!
Oh yeah it sure would!
Is the 99 waterproof??
Specs say it’s waterproof.
@@ExocagedRC ok thanks!
Is there any way to set end points on the stock radio?
Yes. In my first drive video I show it
If you look in the manual there are instructions.
$60 for that servo
Reefs is definitely proud of their shite!
