Stared my Capra build and while i was unboxing my kit, I saw the plastic skid plate and thought, I have to get the Treal Skid Plate. I will get the Trans Case later after I have everything else done. Maybe throw in that 8T pinion if I decide I want it.
I say keep it sensible and budget friendly. Most people who get RTRs don’t want to crazy they just want an all around capable rig. I do like the Treal trans case but can do without the skid. In my opinion the plastic slides a lot better. Anyhow I always enjoy your vids! Thank you!
You were very descriptive on how the Treal transmission case works droping pinion etc. couldn't find any information on that anywhere you do AWESOME VIDEOS IVE LEARNED A LOT FROM YOU KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOUR CHANNEL 👍🏿👌🏿
Perhaps a dumb question .. but why would you choose aluminum over plastic for that belly/skid? Is that stock plastic super soft or something? A lot of guys put high density plastic over the aluminum skids on their real Jeeps for slide ability.
Already have a second FS-GT5 on the way for an SCX24 Hobbywing brushless mini mod. It will be my Capra Radio also, love the Crawl modes since I am building a 4WS
For the most part the gears in rc cars just don't get enough use to need grease. I've seen plenty of broken gears over the years but I've yet to see a properly meshed gear actually wear out. I'm sure it has happened but for the vast majority of use cases it's just not needed. Combine that with the probability of grease turning into an abrasive and I can see why they didn't use any. That being said I do use a very light film on most gears because it just "feels" wrong to run them dry. But anything more than enough to just lightly coat the teeth is a waste and a mess.
I think you should see how far you can go with the upgrades. We've seen it stock enough to know it's not the greatest out there, though not bad for an RTR. I feel it should get a chance to really shine! 🙂
I recomend the Firma smart brushed esc, it’s a 1080 esc with a reciever. For 45 bucks. It tickles me to death the value in the Firma smart brushed esc it also has extra leads for lights
Definitely want to see you go the full hog on this Capra too mate... A Capra is definitely going to be my next rig and I want to know all the ins and outs... Love your work, keep it up :)
you gotta adjust the end points for the dig servo or it will die in no time. 30 for both sides works perfectly for me even with the shitty stock dig servo
Exo: Do this 1 as a average, weekend crawler, 40hr week, family dude with screaming kids, mild mods the working class competition person would do on a $100.00 month budget. UNlike those of us that are retired & the sky ain't the limit! Whatcha think?
Old-RC Crawler-Dude well I’ve been thinking about that. The best thing I can think of is to go brushless at the start. The Axe is about $200 but it’s a buy it once and you’re done kind of thing. Sometimes it’s cheaper to get the good stuff at the start.
@@ExocagedRC Amen! Idk about the brushed/brushless myself. Crawling, I, myself cant tell a huge difference between brushed/brushless AS far as just backyard driving goes. Tho 2, I'm not competitive like a few years ago n 8th scale e buggy. I prefer to go slow & meticulousivlyness. (LOL that's a mouthful!)
not without trimming, I did it with the plastic belly using a holmes crawlmaster Pro and had to do a lot of trimming to the link to make it fit, the video is on the channel if you wish to see it.
@@ExocagedRC Thank you both. Honestly I 'm happy with my Holmes Hobbies Crawl Master Pro 11T 540, just wonder should I change the factory 14t pinion to a 12t for better crawling performance?
Honestly it went together really smoothly. The finishes looked good to me as well. I did kill the dig servo on the run but I’m pretty sure I went way too far with the EPA’s. I’ve got the Reefs micro99 in there now and no issues at all.
Exocaged RC it took me so many times slightly adjusting the rear cross plate for the dig. Took it out out it back many times then it worked I’d say at 96 percent cus it has a tiny amount of friction still but it’s nothing compaired to how it was binding.
This is a "treal" nice video w/some "treal" nice upgrades. I don't want to get too personal but I am curious. About how much do you spend on RC parts monthly. Currently I'm spending between $250 to $350 and you seem to surpass me by quite a lot. I only have 9 RC vehicles to keep running also. Yeah I know, "treal" was kind of a lame play on words. Love the channel keep up the hard work.
PLEASE, I beseech you. Produce a video showing how to expeditiously access/remove the chassis/motor/transmission from the body/cage of the Capra as you had already done for this video. NONE of these products and mods are of ANY worth to me(or others) if watchers aren't knowledgable, comfortable, or confident simply accessing these parts. TRX-4s and SCX10s are rather simple to access the motors, transmissions, etc. BUT NOT SO THE CAPRA! Please stop assuming everyone is knowledgeable of this process.
Just take the whole thing apart to where you need to. Or take the whole thing apart and rebuild it. Its how Learnt and its the best way. Or buy the kit. Also I bet it would be pretty cool to run the capra without the cage. It would perform so well
I stuffed my trans with lithium grease, like an Xmas turkey! Runs as smooth and quiet as mouse in loafers!

I like the longer videos. I like watching the install of new parts and then seeing them in action!! nice video
The transmission is so loud same as my buddies but the Trans in my capra is so quiet lol

I have used the 1080 in a couple kits and am very happy with the esc. Sure I would like to go brushless but it's not possible at this time.
🙌😃

Treal is becoming my new favorite upgrade company. Their stuff is beautiful and really well made. Also competitively priced.
If the other one is over to top I’d say keep it reasonable and tamed.
I’ve got some same labelle 106 grease and some 107/102 oils. Great stuff!
Nice video. I like that you show how to build and show what to watch out for 👌🏻you should mount the camera so we can see the hole process 👍🏻👍🏻

Yep! I usually put just a little bit on them. In some cases there is a lot of room and most of it just flings off.
Go all out brother
Keep it mild! Would like to see what you can do. Your first capra was crazy!
Being new to the hobby I find your vids. Excellent, very informative and helpful.
Keep it up 👍

I'm trying to make mine sensible but an awesome sensible.
I'm watching your videos closely on this rig.
Awsome I was not expecting this video so now I'll return the belly pan & order these through your affiliate links... Thank you Joe.
I use the stock tires on one ride, and then I put the traxxes trx 4 rims & tires on it and it was a 100% better the stock tires suck.
Do you know if the transmission allows for a longer motor? Ended up with a HW 540L and its about 1/2 too long. Thanks!
nope it doesn't, sorry
@@ExocagedRC Well shoot. New motor time I guess. Thanks for the reply!

He’s the reason why my Capra is being delivered later this day. Will be 4ws with a puller pro 2700kv 3s mamba x.
I did that with the other one and it was just crazy good
Make it look stock but be an absolute beast out on the rocks
you gotta adjust the end points for the dig servo or it will die in no time. 30 for both sides works perfectly for me even with the shitty stock dig servo
Joe you going to do the 3 gear trans mod on the capra? To fix the gearing issues? I'm seeing several people going that direction with capra
I have no issues with the gearing as it is now.
That stock ESC looks alot like a Hobbywing 1040
Treal is Quality, never had a bad part.

Treal products always look nice, will the belly fit a 550 can motor?
Stella Chow stock no. you could try some modifications and fabrication to make something up but normally a 550 will not fit a stock capra

Will transmission case with the brushless Hobbyking fusion pro?
Did you have any binding issues in the treal trans housing? I’m getting so much friction it’s sure to over hear my motor

I ordered a few things from Traxxas and put your channel down as a referral not sure if that helps or not
In which web site u find the over driver gear
I'm putting the 1080 in my bomber. How would I go about keeping the stock lights? I wish axial would use jst connectors to the receiver
you may have to cut and solder on some jst for them.
@@ExocagedRC ok. Thanks for the reply back

Make this capra build on a budget
We want it hog wild!
Do you still hack and sell the gt3c. If so I'd like to get one from you
Or flysky radios in general
Is that a naked lady at 17:54
lol its just concrete
I thought I saw that
Mild build, budget minded. Keep it simple.
Should of kept it stock it performed better 🙄
Did u put a on and off switch on this?

4 screws and the belly drops out, take the shock top bolts loose and its all on the table just be careful of the wires.
Exocaged RC yep thats what i thought.
