    I got my RTR Capra a few weeks ago and got hooked on it immediately. Such a great chassis platform. I have already added several mods. Tires, wheels, pen springs and portal weights. The chassis is such a great platform that it responds to mods really well and keeps getting better. I will eventually swap out the stock electronics, but for now I am really happy with this rig.

    4ws is a must. It really helps side hill situations. Worth dropping the dig function but I still have it too. I did custom bungie limiters (off one of your previous crawler videos) mini shackles to connect through the axles and back to themselves and rubber bands through some heat shrink for protection. One over the bumper and the other through the back truck bed supports. I have metal front axles and brass in the front. I put in 110mm shocks for articulation and put in yeti lower rear links and bent husky links rear upper with a personal mod Vader skid to fit. Adding length to the wheelbase made it more important to add axle length extensions to prevent flipping. Husky bent links everywhere els. I added a sway bar in the back to stiffen up and reduce tipping as well. However the restrictor straps help a lot with side hilling as well as the 4ws. The aluminum belly is in my opinion a detriment, chassis weight added and slideability decreased as well as bad clearance. I’m upgrading my motor now too since the Capra now weighs about 8 lb all loaded up. Adding a mamba x and ether a holes hobby crawler/racer motor or a castle creation that is coming out in December that will fit in the capra (what motor do you use? I’ll find it eventually in your videos, great channel, very useful and entertaining. Also, I added aftermarket 3D printed treeguards and truck bed from shapeways to replace that hideous fuel cell. Carbon fiber prints kydex body and nice bumper in front. Over all this is a beast goat that moded can wipe the rocks on my test track with the blood of its rtr and kit kin and the smoked motor that worked for the kit but not this beast. Added a 10t pinion to fix the first motor problem so I can run while the other motor gets here.

      Exocaged RC thanks! It’s a great little rig. I’m relatively new to rc actually. I’ll definitely checkout the FB exocage group and I’m only in a few other FB groups so far for rock crawling and the Capra. I’ll post some pics once I have some time. I’m a downhill skater at heart that has gotten a bit old for the younger crowds and competitions. So I’ve moved on to a new gear hobby. Lol I started watching rock racer/bouncer comps and I’m hooked. Went to the local hobby shop, drove a crawler and the Capra. Left with the Capra kit and I’ve been trying to a bouncer out of it for the last month. Got it for my birthday in October and I’m almost done. Maybe

    well filmed and edited video as always. I am a bit confused by your statements. I went back and watched your Capra videos and it seemed to me that you overall enjoyed the machine. In this video, it seems to me that you are implying that the stock Capra is almost junk. would it be possible to see drivers of equal skill driving a stock Capra vs your newly modified Capra to "see" the difference? thanks

    • @ExocagedRC
      @ExocagedRC  4 года назад +1

      The stock Capra is fine but it has its drawbacks especially with motor control and center of gravity being the main issues. This is mostly corrected with these bolt on mods. This is why I like this setup so much better.

  • @KTMcaptain
    @KTMcaptain 4 года назад

    Looks like this Capra of yours is running the differentials in the high pinion orientation which gives torque twist towards the drivers side. In the crack of doom you might get better did hilling if you went with the low pinion setup like on your other Capra that reverses the torque twist to the passenger side.

    Do you know anything about Novak? I recently bought a used sensored Novak 17.5 turn motor on Ebay for 24$ and paired it with a cheap hobbywing bl120esc and its amazing. I've never heard of Novak but I took a gamble because it was sensored brushless and 17.5 turn. It can creep just as good if not better than my mamba setups and has some power on 3s. Like I said I've never heard of them just wondering your opinion on the brand, I got the silver can with purple stripe. Nothing creeps like my hobbywings though lol.

    I would put 80mm shocks on to lower it and get rid of the straps and put the treal transmission back in. I like how you build all these trucks but take the cheap way to tune your shocks. Either you don't know how to or to cheap

    • @ExocagedRC
      @ExocagedRC  4 года назад +4

      LoL not cheap at all. 80mm would lower it but also take away flex. The DSM way keeps it low but still allows flex. I’m not a big flex guy but some is needed. This gets me there without making it almost into a belly dragger. Those do not work well at my place or the other places I comp at. This works for me. No I don’t want the chassis weight of the metal case or belly on this style vehicle for competition.

    • @lowslowcrawlers1304
      @lowslowcrawlers1304 4 года назад

      @@ExocagedRC exactly. I forget what you call those rocks "riff raff" but it works great for that. East coast comps and West coast comps are not the same. Over here were low and slow. Seems like over there guys are a little higher with more flex. Most comp guys around here use tubing or 80mm shocks so there is no flex, but that's for inclines. I would love to take my rigs to your course, but I'd have to set them up a little different for sure. My capra BARELY gets 2 fingers under the skid.
