Thank you sir!! Well done. I have watched dozens of hours of shock building as a race but there isn’t any information on how to dial these features of crawlers. For people that compete and want the most of their vehicles need this stuff.!!!
Ive noticed that the 2660 shocks have a very high damping rate with the stock (included) fluid and Mini T springs. I'm guessing the pistons are intended for bashing and high speed use. To get the equivalent in my Capra shock, I need to run 80 or 90wt! After running the 2660 on my GSpeed rig, I really like the control and predictability of slow damping because the truck gives you plenty of warning before it rolls or flips. Everything seems to happen in slow motion.
Loving all your new how to vids Tim, they’re great and really helpful to us noobs. Keep up the great work and thanks (from Australia) for putting in the time. I haven’t tuned my shocks yet but sill give it a go now.
Random suggestion of the day. I actually run springs in the front an Full droop in the rear. I have been doin this on my cheater rigs for years and even on steep climbs it tends to work really well. May I suggest you try it. May surprise you how well it can work on the right truck. My latest Gspeed v3 I have Capra shocks with the soft springs on front and custom Traxxas/axial hybrid shock Full droop on the rear and it is amazing
`One of the best Crawler Shock Break Downs on RUclips , Thank You very much TRD Adventures :) Would love to see a break down of the build and spec of that rig on the bench followed by the class 1 and class 2 on the shelf , Looking forward to the next Video , Fast becoming my go to Rc Crawling channel 10/10
*insert random dog here* Hey man, new to your channel, love the content. Very helpful in my builds! Also love your blue Great Dane! Just gorgeous!! Keep up the great work!
Very helpful content. Subscribed and looking forward to your future videos. Glad you covered shocks in this video. One question I have is what to do about the front shocks unloading on my V3 builds having AR44 and AR45 axles when going up more extreme angles. As you described, I have Traxxas Big Bore 2660 shocks...85mm fronts (5mm internal spacers) and 90mm rears. Using pink/orange Losi Mini-T springs. Currently have 25wt/40wt AE shock oils with minimal rebound. Using modified Big Bore spring cups. 60/40 weight front-to-rear. Many thanks.
It seems like the stock shocks are usually the most reliable and work the best. Ive always slightly relicated the mounting positions to a more crawler type set up. I tbink its ridiculous that only a few companies are manufacturing decent shocks.
good videos, I would like to know how you do those shock absorbers they have an impressive touch, I would buy you some if you send them to Spain thanks
@@TRDAdventures Iv got several trucks but I really don’t wanna use one for a donner lol so I’m just gonna buy what I need Also what do you think for trans
Oh in that case I would definitely recc the ar45 straight axle kit, solid kit and the price is great for axles. And transmission I recc any of the Team Garage hack transmission for comping. The 2.low & t210 have 30% build in. If your looking budget trans. Element stealth x trans with hot racing UD2 trans gears
I am new here.. I have a vs4-10 pro and a element ecto and a phoenix. Now have 90 percent of all my gspeed goods. I didn't want to use my ecto so should or can I use my phoenix portals and a different transmission
TRD , I recently purchased some Dulux fab short shocks 96mm eye to eye plus w/ 1/4" spacers. I've never owned Dulux shocks prior to this, do you know or anyone else know why these shocks are soooo hard like won't compress cleanly up & down, it's like there almost gummy. most all my other shocks I run 50-60 plus wt oil yet with these I'm down to 30wt & I can't get them to move freely up & down its like they stay wherever you compress them at. if I squat my truck they won't move up unless I'm running losi orange springs with like 3 o ring spacers benieth them? these are on my Tgh V3 chassis weighing 6lbs.. I was expecting something unbelievable & to be honest I can't stand them, if anyone can give me some advice or have experienced this with these shocks I'd appreciate it? Thank you
Dravtech shocks come from Dlux Fab. You want "shorts" for most V3 builds. Supposed to be back in stock by March 25. I definitely like Traxxas Big Bore shocks as an alternative; but, they can be hard to find too.
Really glad your got this series up and moving. Thanks for the info , opinions and , always giving us the why and how you make your decisions.

The Traxxas XL & XXL Shocks are pretty awesome, and a great many Springs to choose from!
Enjoyed the shock vid man. Just built my first carbon gspeed setup with vanquish ultra axles and trans.
I have been looking for this exact information for a while, thank you
Thanks for sharing man, definitely some great info here!

Thank you very much. More vids are coming, I will do some break down of each in the “comp” series I’m working on. After I get a few more parts

If they are unloading too fast, I would bump up the oil in the front up a bit and see how that affects it.
Already got them lol an the traxxas shocks I thought that’s what you liked to use to
More great info! 😎💥💥💥🏁
I’m trying lol
Excellent video, very helpful information on shocks. Will you be making a video on anti squat?
I am work on it, trying to figure out how to put it into words.

Thanks buddy
Good info thank you You have a brindle female. I have 2 presa canario the boy is 200LB...
Rc Cola haha heck yea
These are very informative vids
Thank you
Greatinfo brother
Thanks for the info 🤙
Great 👍🏻 information
Thank you good sir!
Very helpful information. Thank you.
Is that a Mastiff you are petting?
Both are Great Danes the brindle is a lab/Dane mix
Great video bro. NEw subscriber here

Well... I got 90mm gmade internal sprung shocks running droop and my ride height has substantially increased, scx10 iii basecamp
You able to run droop with that setup, like internal springs / pen spring.
AWESOMENESS!!! 😎
good videos, I would like to know how you do those shock absorbers they have an impressive touch, I would buy you some if you send them to Spain thanks
They are modded traxxas 2660s, they are even backordered here in the states
and what springs and silicone do you put in it? thanks for your answer
I use losi mini t springs and oil dependent on the weight of the truck usually 30-45 weight
How many hole pistons are you using on the the 2660's?
Great video! What's your preferred spring setup for droop on your Desert Lizards for a 5lb. to 7lb. rig? Also do you run yours invert?
I have not run them in quite some time now to even remember.
Nice!
How did you get your modified big bores to work well ! I got some and there rubbish
..meh, nice video
Subscribed... 🤘😎
Is that rc cola in the background? Where did you find that?
My local dillons(Kroger) has them
That’s another question I have is what’s a good hard body to buy
I like my Toyota so the hilux(tamiya or Rc4wd Mojave) are a fav of mine
What axles would you use if you had your choice
Straight axle, new new ar45 straight or ar44 with ssd diamond housing. And portal ar45 or Capra with vanquish housings

Cannot take you very seriously with those glasses bro........😮
@TRD Adventures do you prefer actual dravtechs or traxxas big bores and what size length
Both options are great. And length depend on the build, portals I generally go 80mm and straight axle 90mm
@TRD Adventures what difference does it make when you buy dravtech shocks and add on the 1/4in spacer
@@Toysojah671 shortens the shock
Where have you mounted your servo winch's, just bought one last night from 3br
I use the gspeed servo winch mount for the side of the chassis
@@TRDAdventures I have it, just wondering where you mounted it
Mine is on the eh side the bottoms mount is using the front upper link hole not uses and then I drilled a new hole to mount thru
@@TRDAdventures ok,I was thinking that , going to have to remount battery move it elsewhere
I will mount the overland winch on there
Are you using the mini t springs to set the internal droop or some other spring?
I just run mini T spring
I am new here.. I have a vs4-10 pro and a element ecto and a phoenix. Now have 90 percent of all my gspeed goods. I didn't want to use my ecto so should or can I use my phoenix portals and a different transmission
Yea you definitely can if you want. Or if you don’t wanna strip the Phoenix, you could just source other axles.
@@TRDAdventures I just bought some boom racing axles. Man this is one cheap hobby. 😄 🤣 and some other goodies. Next step is a big assortment of screws
@@dontdoit6403 lol yup it can get outta hand fast lol. And definitely pick up a monster bag from Team KNK
@@TRDAdventures problem is I left the states 3 years ago they want 30 bucks shipping.. for a bag of screws that cost 39.. lol. .

so you run pink S in front and orange H in rear
or the burned orange M in rear
Typically pink front, orange rear, depending on the build I will run red in the rear
@@TRDAdventures thanks trd 🤟🏼
Try running air in your tires it was best thing I ever did on my truck
Tried and was not a fan at all here on our terrain and temps.
I like about a 6 pound truck
Yup that’s a good range mine is the 5.5-6 range myself as well
@@TRDAdventures my truck right now,is about 5.9-6.1
