Very clear explanation. It's my understanding that CST is a more accurate method of measuring oil viscosity than weight. Not so much an issue when using the comparing the same brand but it is when swapping brands i.e. a 25wt from brand A won't neccessarily be the same viscosity as 25wt from brand B. I'm like you in liking just a little bounce back.

I have RC4WD King Off-Road Racing Shocks that I have not installed yet. I'm NOT doing pure Professional crawling but want a good all a-rounder but MORE leaning towards crawling - let's say a 40/60 split. I have ordered 35w shock oil. Am I good? What would you recommend? I also have Pitbull 2 stage foam tires.
I’m not sure about the king shocks as I think the traxxas shocks are pretty amazing anyway. 35wt is good for crawling, although it might make the truck a bit bouncy on the trail. I run 25wt in my trail truck which does well at crawling too. That said with all the weight a thicker oil does make sense. Two stage foams are good with all that weight so sounds like you’re on the right track
for my crawler LCG 2.6kg which better oil grade to use for front and rear...now using desert lizard damper 90mm.. for spring need to use 2 step spring or 1 step only, soft,mediium or hard spring?.. tqvm
Wonder if these RC shocks could be used to mound a handheld cell phone gimble to a bicycle for streaming. Wonder if the small quick shocks would be absorbed. Or if some sort of rubber would be needed.
I have a Redcat Gen 8 V2. I bought some 100 mm desert lizard shocks and need some input on set up. Would you suggest a heavier spring? I have 30wt oil. Truck is top heavy but pretty capable. Thanks for any information you can give.
I’ve got another video on tuning spring rates which should help with that. I’d say with such a long shock you want a thicker oil to really control how much the truck tips. It’ll always be top heavy with 100mm shocks but a bit more body control and practice and it’ll be a fun truck

Thanks, and yes you’re totally right. That’s why I like the mixed packs. I’ve actually used a mix of 20-25 tonight to get a 23wt for the rears

Yeah, I would try a slightly thicker oil first but softer springs are always good if you're running a lighter battery and remove unneeded stuff
I run light springs, light oil 15wt, about 60-70% compression while at static ride height. This is on my slow crawler.

What do prefer 90mm or 100mm shocks for a sag Setup
90mm or 80-85 depending on how the front behaves

Yep! And this is once it’s settled too, so measure it after a few mins

Umm no, really no. Stock TRX4 shocks are some of the most reliable shocks out there, and of all the kit shocks easily the best
