Hey Guys! This is one of the calendars I was most excited for this year! After their AMAZING 2023 Advent calendar I had super high expectations for this year! I think the value of this calendar is incredible, the packaging is stunning, and there are some wonderful products! However, I felt there was a bit of a spark missing and I did have a couple concerns about and Item or two. I would love to know what you guys think! Please let me know if you think the issues I mentioned are actually issues or something that should just be overlooked? Have a wonderful day! Love ya💖
Good morning Beautiful. Love your advent calendar videos. You are So Amazingly fun to watch. You also give us ℹ️ information on them as well. Hope you, your family and everyone here has a Safe Blessed and Wonderful day.🤗♥️👑💐🌹💐👑♥️🤗
The elastic at a higher percentage probably makes it so they can make them for more people because the sizing so they can make them smaller and able to stretch enough to be able to wear them with smaller sizes and bigger sizes it also could be orchid because vanilla is a orchid
OMG that’s my favorite saying!!! I was this year old when I realized that the kid wasn’t just calling him smalls just bc but it was his last name!! lol
I gotta tell you, there's so many people doing Advent calendars on RUclips these days, but you're the best. Your presentation is concise and entertaining. Thanks for being you.
That elastane mix of the socks was actually a brilliant find. They most definitely produced a lower quality version for the advent calendar. Great eye!
Not sure if lower quality was the reason for the decision (of course I could be wrong though). But more elastane means a wider range of sizes that will comfortably fit in those socks. And since you don't buy an advent calendar with your shoe size a wider range is very important.
@@lethfuilthat makes sense and would be a cool inclusive decision if that was the intention behind the different composition, however they should’ve listed the actual price because there is a difference in 10% missing cashmere. Plus imagine if someone liked the socks and the fit in the advent Calendar but when they go through the QR code and buy it directly from the company, it’s a tighter and different fit.
To be fair to vogue, if you look at their product and price list of the box on the website, they list the socks as a lower price than the retail on the loop site. So at least they’re counting the true value of the lower amount of cashmere
It’s great that you noticed these discrepancies, it’s an expensive calendar. Vogue should be completely transparent about any changes made to the products. It seems they’ve intentionally made the changes like small print, perhaps hopeful no one would notice. Thank you Alex for noticing and calling attention to it! ❤
I would think that the Vogue customer would *absolutely* notice the discrepancies too - the fashion girlies are very discerning!! I would certainly be upset to get gold-plated earrings if I paid $500ish dollars for a an advent calendar.
I would love to hear a response from Vogue if Alexandria is brave enough to contact them (though I personally know that I would be too scared😅), because I think it is false advertisement, at least for the socks
@@droomprinsesje1234I completely agree!! I would definitely contact them! The earrings are gorgeous (I love the style), but that's a scam if they're made cheaply!!
Not the first time they've done this, though. In some of their previous celebrity get ready with me/makeup vids, they would show a celebrity using one thing, but in the description they'd be pushing a product that was probably 10x more expensive and not what was even being used in the video. So, this isn't kind of a surprise. Mind you, at the same time not stating that what was being pushed in the description wasn't what was being used in the video at all.
@@TSfan90afaik most beauty brands do this bait and switch thing in videos or adverts. scammy marketing practices are the bane of sales in general, so unless the consumers whip the companies with ethics committee checks and vote with money, the sneaky scumminess will resume. but who has the time 🥱
Looking up the products after unboxing them is actually what makes you stand out from the advent calendar unboxing crowd! Not only can we see the product prices (which is super interesting, especially with expensive calendars), but you can indeed find out if you get scammed like this. I wouldn't call it nitpicking at all, because you pay for something they advertise, but you don't receive that same item. Which is actually unethical, and they should be taking accountability for it. Go you! Keep nitpicking please! :)
Love your videos. The “rant” at the end is an example of what sets you apart from all the other advent calendar unboxing RUclipsrs. You don’t let ‘em get away with anything! Keep up the good work!
111skin actually does produce cheaper versions of its products specifically for advent calendars and beauty boxes. They were in an Allure box years ago and Allure admitted the 111skin product in their box was made in China (whereas the full-priced versions are made in Europe). In response, 111skin released a slyly worded statement saying “All aspects of the product including key active ingredients and componentry remain the same,” but critics noted that “key ingredients” is not the same as “all ingredients”, and they made no guarantee on the concentration of active ingredients.
I appreciate your digging into the items deeper because the businesses rely on scarcity, FOMO, and perceived value. Your unboxings have kept me from spending money on items that I ultimately wouldn't enjoy or use. AND since this isn't your first rodeo, or second or third, you have a historical perspective as well. Love it. So bummed because I remember how much you loved the Vogue calendar from last year.
You are the 3rd person I’ve watched open this calendar and you are the first one who actually appreciated the playing cards. The playing cards are such a unique gift!
I love playing cards!! They’re a favourite souvenir of mine. I do wish that they’d done a different vogue cover on each card face though where the numbers are (so the backs are still all the same). I have a few decks like that (Finnish designers, lighthouses of Michigan, M&M’s) and it’s so fun to look through the deck and see all the different things. Would have made them just that little bit better but I still think they’re cool😊
@@lisahoshowsky4251 Indeed, I was expecting a nice design for the jack, queen and king, but nothing. It made the cards a little less interesting for me. Otherwise, it can be a lovely keepsake.
@ I agree, they could have done something to make the card faces more fun. It’s still a different item than any other calendars are doing. I don’t understand all the hate other RUclipsrs are giving them.
For me, where the Vogue calendar fell short this year was their switch to all full-sized items. Last year, they had a lot of great sample/travel sizes (the Kilian Paris travel size perfume, Hourglass blush and setting powder, a couple Sisley minis, the trio of Clé de Peau minis, etc). To up the sizes without upping the cost, they seem to have replaced these with cheap filler. Also, I don’t love the repetition (another Foreo, more cashmere socks, another silk sleeping mask, etc.)
I love how Alexandria has 3 looks w/o makeup she looks like she is 17, with minimal makeup a college co-ed and when done up she looks like a contestant for Miss. America. Just so beautiful!
I love how you point things out that people wouldn’t necessarily notice, pulling companies up for their sneakiness… Thankyou, I think it’s very important! So I appreciate it and you talking through it especially because people are spending their hard earned cash on these advent calendars… there’s nothing wrong with the advent calendar, it seems like a very good calendar, but they don’t need to be sleekit about it 🤷♀️… Hope you feel better soon 💕
I absolutely LOVE that you nitpicked and investigated. It sets you apart from others, and it's something I truly appreciate. I don't like when companies try to pull sneaky stuff like that. The box contents definitely aren't for me, but YOU are what make these videos so wonderful. You de-influence me.
Have you considered keeping spreadsheets of all the products you get in adventure calendars? 1 file for each year, and then one tab for each calendar. Then you can quickly reference if you received something from a previous year. You could even do this with the subscription boxes you receive.
So true, I would absolutely do that. Mind you, I have to work with spreadsheets all day and then will log onto my "fun" spreadsheets that I use to track my wishlists, hobbies and interests 😂😂 I am neurospicy tbf, but I just LOVE being able to filter/search things in spreadsheets because I am forever in a state of "oh I saw this thing / had this idea / wanted to save this reference". It is basically a giant brain dump that I can search and categorise. Totally understand this is not for everyone though. Even taking a pic/screenshot of the contents list (per calendar) & dumping them in a folder together is an option, or if physical tracking is more gratifying, writing or printing it out & sticking it in a physical notebook/journal *on the day of* will help build up a physical archive/record whilst not creating an overwhelming task after the fact.
925 sterling silver contains 7.5% other metals. That 7.5% can be either copper, brass, nickel , or a mix of two or three of these other metals. This is done to strengthen the silver as it is an extremely soft metal at 100% silver with no other metals. So 925 sterling contains other metals. Which means vermeil can contain brass within the silver. They may be listing all the metals and alloys used in full disclosure for people who have metal sensitivities. So there can be brass in vermeil. It’s within the sterling used as a plating medium. (This comes from my husband who is a silver, gold and platinum smith)
Gold is also a soft metal, which is why silver needs to be mixed with other metals, such as nickel and copper. The advent calendars are pretty, but the guidelines are specific. That was a fantastic catch. It just shows how they get away with putting inferior products in them.
But they’re not listing it is vermeil at all, having 2 different descriptions shows something changed, if they could’ve legally called it vermeil they would’ve.
I love that you look everything up as you go. I'm always curious about the exact same things and it's so satisfying to actually have those questions answered right then.
I try to not be too much of a "clutter collector" but I would definitely keep those vintage cards so I love that they are not glued/attached to the box. They are actually easy to keep and don't take up space!
So this verifies that the more excited you get the more your country accent comes out talking about that little spoon and how precious it was the cutest thing I’ve ever seen! I’m also from SE KY and speak hick 😂
"I feel kinda bad about hanging up the slain corpses of my enemies on my Christmas tree but they wouldn't be good for anything else so I don't want to be wasteful" I LOVE IT As for the advent calendar itself it feels like you got back the value of what you paid for, but the misses really tarnish the whole calendar for me. Thank you for going into detail about these issues! Looking forward to more advent calendar season and hope you feel better soon!
I enjoy the entertainment of you unboxing the Advent calendars, but I think most importantly you provide consumer awareness. Advent calendars are pricey, even the more affordable ones. Knowing the value of what is inside the calendars is so important and not something the purchaser can easily find out before handing over hard-earned cash. Keep up the research because we need you!
Why did I smell the spoon? 🤣💀 I have to say, I've been shying away from other creators Advent calendar videos because I wait with bated breath for yours. Thanks for making my holiday season.
I cant say for sure about advent calendars or Vouge but i spoke with a 111Skin customer service person after i got a sketchy product from IPSY.... there is a second, lower quality line that they put in subscription boxes. Same names, same packaging, different ingredients and ingredient list.
I've seen several people doing advent unboxings, but YOU are the BEST, I appreciate you taken the time to give some detail on each item. Wishing you continued success !
I wish other RUclipsrs had your level of integrity, honesty, commitment, and dedication to make sure that these advent calendars from these companies are getting a full clear and concise review so that the every day public consumer, who isn’t as fortunate to have this type of money. But works hard to save and purchase a calendar like this knows they’re getting their money worth. Too many companies are sadly getting away with basically false advertisement when it comes to these calendars marketing them as something that they may not be fully as you give a closer inspection. I commend you for the amount of work you do to make sure people know what they’re buying and what they’re getting it does set you apart from other RUclipsrs keep doing you. ❤
Hey Alexandria! I suggest going to a tattoo shop to get your ear(s) re-done! This way it doesn't hurt very much, and it will do less damage, because the "peircers" at like claire's use a "gxn" which is not possible to clean fully and does trauma to your ears and causes a lot of us to be scared of getting our ears re-done -nod-.
I do think honesty is important point with these high value advent calendars. This is Vouge we are talking about. You paid for the name yes, with the name comes expectations so I think you have a point.
Last year has blown you away this year has also blown you away in a completely different way. I love how you do unboxings. Advent season is my favorite season
Your deep dives into the value of these calendars are so interesting! Looking forward to the rest of the advent calendar season! I hope you feel better soon!
From the unhinged luxury prices to the Sephora slander with an occasional dash of disappointing filler product, this video is advent calendar unboxing perfection.
Last year’s Vogue calendar that you unboxed looked so amazing that I definitely had FOMO. I considered getting it this year, but I wasn’t as excited about the items this year to convince myself to spend so much money. Loved your review (and your detective work)!
Alexandria being a great investigator ! I've watched 2 other people unbox this and indeed they didn't notice those things. Though one of them, I'm sure said the socks were 85% cashmere and 5% elastane, which had me confused. It was lovely seeing the boys in their blanket and with their calendar !
I love seeing Wren and Tater at the end. Great job doing the research on what they tried to pull with this year’s calendar, like the socks and earrings.
I love the Wren and Tatar advent calendar ! They are so darn cute ! It steals my heart just seeing how excited they(especially Wren) get for their treats! Just like my doggie!
I have the Silk Peony cream from Tatcha and I LOVE it. You only need like a rice grain sized amount for each eye - it lasts FOREVER if you aren't diligent (like me).
It goes ALL THE WAY TO THE TOP! Thank you so much for such a thorough deep dive, it's cheeky AF that the socks and earrings are lower quality products than the QR codes link to! Can't wait for all your advents this year, am making do with other creators while I wait but it's just not the same!!!
thank you for sharing your observations at the end, definitely interesting. brands just need to be straight up from the start as to not dig themselves into a hole
The "ribbon and run around a pole" thing is called a Maypole! The actual running around is called a maypole dance. It's done at a lot of folk festivals, especially around May 1/May Day/Beltane :)
I have a potentially fun suggestion? It might be fun to do a ranking of calendars as we go along - so that at the end of each new calendar you can say ‘lets move this one between the ‘sephora’ and the ‘vogue’ and at the end we will have a long list with a clear winner 🎉 Loving the videos so far!
Thank you!!!! I am so glad someone has taken the time to do a deep dive on these luxury calendars to expose their lies... good for you girl, find that value and those lies!!! Appreciate you and all you do!!! P.s. love the boys' bonus advent!!!
I feel as if whenever I open this app saying, "Okay I really need something to watch" there is a new Advent Calendar video. Shout out to you for your impeccable timing!
My son collects playing cards so he would love those, however I feel like they missed the mark with the cards and could of used beautiful images for the face cards. I am interested in getting that perfume for my daughter,I think she would love it!!!! I think there were some great items, but it is an $$$ calendar. I did look at getting it but not in the budget for the year, lol
As someone with a medium amount of knowledge about yarn and fiber content, the socks are probably a bit more durable than last year's 100% cashmere ones because of that small amount of elastane. Most sock yarns are made with a little bit of nylon or other similar fibers because those provide elasticity and durability. You want your socks to have some stretch to them and to be able to return to original size, and that's what the elastane is there for. The 100% cashmere ones were labeled 'bed socks' probably because they wouldn't hold up to the repeated wear and tear of using them as actual functional socks, but with the small amount of elastane in them, these ones at least have a fighting chance at surviving being worn. That said, the discrepancy between the online listing of 5% elastane and the actual 15% present in the socks is a lil sketchy and I wouldn't be surprised if they were a cheaper custom job for the advent calendar. Still though, that extra bit of elastane, while less glamorous sounding than the higher amount of cashmere, might actually mean your socks are a bit more wearable. (Also, idk if you'll find this just as funny as I do, but 'elastane' is just the non-branded name for Spandex/Lycra. So those fancy cashmere socks contain the same stuff neon 80s workout bodysuits were made of.)
Great insight. I was thinking natural fibers tend to tighten up vs loosen, in my experience from washer and dryer mishaps, but you seem way more well versed.
I absolutely will.not watch any other unlocking channels anywhere ♡ yours are always a special treat because you do mini deep dives and figure out things like cost , even at the cost of your own sanity and other amazing things like the ruby and diamond button Pj's, I am so excited for this year's advent season !
What a great start to advent calendar season. Incandescent rage on calendar 1, sneaky company busting on calendar 2 - man, you make this time of year so much more enjoyable.
Another youtuber I watch opened this the other day and I only got through a couple of doors. I'm not into beauty products but you just make them so entertaining...I always get to the end of your afvenf calendar vids, regardless of what's in there ❤
Yay so excited for advent season! Hoping this is a better outcome then the last one!🤣 Then again, pretty sure ANY advent calendar is better then the last one! Ha
I feel like advent calendars anymore always find a tricky way to rip you off! I’m pretty sure you can get those socks or more than half that price that’s crazy😮
This reminds me of the fancy companies that make specific cheaper products specifically for outlets or sales, it just feels a wee bit dishonest like they're trying to make you think you're getting a better deal than you actually ate 🤔

As for the advent calendar itself it feels like you got back the value of what you paid for, but the misses really tarnish the whole calendar for me. Thank you for going into detail about these issues! Looking forward to more advent calendar season and hope you feel better soon!
Years of reviewing scammy subscription boxes and crappy advent calendars have turned you into a true investigative journalist.
This is why im here. you care, you are honest you are real. Watching your videos is the highlight if my week.
Welcome back, the boys look so adorable tucked up in the background 😍
When fall starts, watching Alex unbox calendars is a holiday tradition in my house
The Sephora crap Christmas tree, I am howling! 😂😂😂
Why did I smell the spoon? 🤣💀
I have to say, I've been shying away from other creators Advent calendar videos because I wait with bated breath for yours. Thanks for making my holiday season.
You notice those details that. make a difference. So we can judge better if it’s something we want to spend our money on. Don’t stop. ❤
I wish other RUclipsrs had your level
of integrity, honesty, commitment, and dedication to make sure that these advent calendars from these companies are getting a full clear and concise review so that the every day public consumer, who isn’t as fortunate to have this type of money.
❤
“High-end kidnapping” just took me out 🤣🤣💀
The detailed discussion of issues is exactly why I watch you! ❤
Yes!! Been (im)patiently waiting for the next video!! No one does advent like you!
16:32 Honestly, the Silk Pony/the Silken Pony sounds like an excellent name for a tavern or other such establishment in a TTRPG campaign-
I do think honesty is important point with these high value advent calendars. This is Vouge we are talking about. You paid for the name yes, with the name comes expectations so I think you have a point.
The Day 3 commentary of the woman in bed with presents was hilarious!
That tree is hilarious
Last year has blown you away this year has also blown you away in a completely different way.
I love how you do unboxings. Advent season is my favorite season
Your deep dives into the value of these calendars are so interesting! Looking forward to the rest of the advent calendar season!
I hope you feel better soon!
From the unhinged luxury prices to the Sephora slander with an occasional dash of disappointing filler product, this video is advent calendar unboxing perfection.
Thank you so much for buying the expensive calendars. It’s some thing I could never do so I’m having lots of fun watching you!!
I held off on watching other advent videos because I love watching yours Alexandria! Viva La Christmas! 🎁
I appreciate u looking into the details too because this is the kinda stuff I'd notice aswell & it matters
I love the Wren and Tatar advent calendar ! They are so darn cute ! It steals my heart just seeing how excited they(especially Wren) get for their treats! Just like my doggie!
I love watch you unbox advent, calendars, and the fact that you give your honest opinion
Those two good boys getting their treats is the best bit of advent calendar season 💛
The amount of work you put into the end, especially doing the check on prices of metal, was wild. That's why we all appreciate you TBH.
I have the Silk Peony cream from Tatcha and I LOVE it. You only need like a rice grain sized amount for each eye - it lasts FOREVER if you aren't diligent (like me).
I love that you do your research! I'm one for the details so your Advent calendar reviews will be the only ones I watch!
True story... When you let Tato in, I literally said out loud "can I help you sir" JUST before you did!! Honest to goodness that happened!😂😂❤❤
Your little rant and investigation is why I love watching you for advent calendars.
The "ribbon and run around a pole" thing is called a Maypole! The actual running around is called a maypole dance. It's done at a lot of folk festivals, especially around May 1/May Day/Beltane :)
Omg, when your dog knocked at the door... I checked my door to see if my dog wanted in! They have trained us well. 😆
The corpses of your enemies hanging from the 🎄...😂. Plus the boys wrapped up like little puppy burritos!💖🐶🐕
45:03 expose them like Dior queen 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you so much for those Videos.❤ I hate christmas but advent calender season is giving me something to look forward to in winter
I have a potentially fun suggestion? It might be fun to do a ranking of calendars as we go along - so that at the end of each new calendar you can say ‘lets move this one between the ‘sephora’ and the ‘vogue’ and at the end we will have a long list with a clear winner 🎉
Loving the videos so far!
When you tie your hair like this it looks like you have a longish bob and honestly it would look so chic on you.
Thank you!!!! I am so glad someone has taken the time to do a deep dive on these luxury calendars to expose their lies... good for you girl, find that value and those lies!!!
Appreciate you and all you do!!!
P.s. love the boys' bonus advent!!!
What a cute idea to make all the junk from Sephora into Christmas tree ornaments!! I love it ❣️
I feel as if whenever I open this app saying, "Okay I really need something to watch" there is a new Advent Calendar video. Shout out to you for your impeccable timing!
Dude same!!
Same here lol! I woke up from my nap to this video being out for 10 minutes and I turned it on immediately
@exbeanie I did the opposite I took a nap, I fell asleep to her vid!
Best part of my day ❤ sending good vibes to you, your family, and the boys
I absolutely will.not watch any other unlocking channels anywhere ♡ yours are always a special treat because you do mini deep dives and figure out things like cost , even at the cost of your own sanity and other amazing things like the ruby and diamond button Pj's, I am so excited for this year's advent season !
Hubby and I LOVE to watch your videos together so I have to wait but I'm so excited for advent season!😂
What a great start to advent calendar season. Incandescent rage on calendar 1, sneaky company busting on calendar 2 - man, you make this time of year so much more enjoyable.
Advent calendars are the outlet malls of retail shopping
Another youtuber I watch opened this the other day and I only got through a couple of doors. I'm not into beauty products but you just make them so entertaining...I always get to the end of your afvenf calendar vids, regardless of what's in there ❤
Can I just say the editing in this video was so fun? Loved all the reference pictures😂
As a fellow Boston lover and owner of two, I LOVE seeing your bostons!! Show them more if you’re comfortable with it! 🥹❤️❤️
Yay so excited for advent season! Hoping this is a better outcome then the last one!🤣 Then again, pretty sure ANY advent calendar is better then the last one! Ha
“I was going to let you guys smell it” was the best thing I’ve ever heard. I love watching your videos!!!
