How to Increase the Flex in RC Crawlers?
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 19 мар 2021
- A math model is being derived that can describe and predict the vertical articulation (flex) generated by the RC crawler shocks. The model is validated on three RC crawlers and hints are given how to increase the articulation of RC crawlers.
Correction:
The term "wheelbase" was used in the wrong way. The wheelbase refers only to the distance of wheel axes in the longitudinal direction (front-back). Here "wheelbase" must be replaced by "track width".
The three RC crawlers used in this movie are:
1. MST CFX-W J45 Kit
2. Traxxas TRX-4 Defender, with upgrades. For more see: • Aesthetic Upgrades TRX...
3. Jeep, Chassis CNC Aluminum Metal Carbon Frame Body for 1/10 Crawler AXIAL SCX10, 313mm Wheelbase (Banggood), Jeep Wrangler car body shell for 1/10 RC Crawler AXIAL SCX-10, 313 mm wheelbase (Banggood).

I feel like I'm listening to Albert Einstein talk about rc rock crawlers.. and I love it.
I appreciate the effort that must have went into making this. Very clear information. Great work.
Hi! These videos are amazing! Not only have you introduced me to crawling, which seems super meditative, you‘ve also made science interesting and relaxing - just great. I look forward to flying.
Thanks for your very kind words! 😊
awesome tips!!! Subscribed!!! can't wait to see more of what you got on your channel.
Thanks! More will follow next year! Merry Christmas 🎄
this is amazing work
Beautiful looking rc’s
Very good explanation my friend 👍
That will be very helpful for me 😀
Thank you 😍
The video was very informative! 👍
Nice sharing my friend... thx for the info 👍
Love it man!!!! Honestly
Nice tutorial
RC physics 101. Very informative video 👍🏻👍🏻
Really nice video
thanks a lot for great information and tips about increase flexiblity
Happy that you like it. Many thanks for letting me know! More tips will follow soon (about tire grip, acceleration and torque twist).
@@rcscientific6004 yes, everythings that you recomend, i apply to my crawler, keep tell us more for your great info, thanks alot RC scientific
@@ArmanRC thanks for your great feedback! Sure, more interesting videos will follow, for example about tire grip (friction), acceleration and torque twist etc. stay tuned!
nice info subscribed
Flex isn’t always the answer. More flex means more instability and greater chance or roll over on side hills.
Yes and no! Flex increases instability if it is enhanced by increased spring suspension travel (especially when the spring stiffness and damping viscosity are low). However, if you enhance flex by increasing the lateral wheelbase, it does not affect instability. On the other hand, increased wheelbase worsens maneuverability.
@@rcscientific6004 have a look at the new generation of comp crawlers. You will find that they run close to full droop suspension setups and not a lot of flex. It makes them more predictable and easier to drive.
Wheelbase is the horizontal distance between the centers of the front and rear wheel, I think you mean track width when talking about how wide the stance is. Other than that nice video man
Thanks for your advice. You are completely right. I made a language translation mistake, and did already mention it in the comments section of this video.
This is the best video. Thanks for sharing a sample to follow you. SUBBED👍. Good Lucks
Fastest subscribe I've ever clicked. Excellent video!
Very happy to read this! Thanks so much. You will like my next upload about spring suspension 😉
Wow just wow
Interesting video 👍🏻 I own an axial wraith spawn that I've modified to be a flex monster and an LCG chopped and dropped crawler all stock no cash spent other than new tyre's and a 550traxxas motor I'm still using NiMH batteries I drive on my backyard custom freestyle crawler course mostly dirt surfaced it'll surprise you if you watch the videos I've put up 45degrees up to 60 degree sloaps in parts.
tq info sir 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
best video 👍👍👍👍👍
Liked the explanation!
Where did you get the blue lift? Send link please...
You can find such kind of "lab-lift tables" on banggood or Aliexpress:
This one is from the movie, and it works really well and accurate: www.aliexpress.com/item/4000036999092.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.27424c4d48EL1Q
This is a larger one from a different brand, which works worse: www.aliexpress.com/item/4000033563674.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.27424c4dXsFpsO
Really good analysis, but enlarging axle create problems in narrow obstacles, so is not the best choice in my opinion.
I think it would be better to work around shocks, better springs calibration and more extension as possible.
I fully agree. Every change comes with advantages and disadvantages. Our design choices are finally compromises.
Also will add steering sweep.
The real flex test result will probably be affected by the wheelbase as well
Nice 〰〰〰👍
what's the name of the item in 5:37 ?
These are Hub Hex Wheel Adaptor Extensions. You can find them on Banggood in different lengths.
What kit are you running for the jeep
Hi, thanks for watching my movie. You find more information about the Jeep Wrangler here: ruclips.net/video/G_lhxgMZFE0/видео.html
@@rcscientific6004 thanks I was looking for another build and I know what I’m doing now
I have the same shocks how did you get them so soft mine are really stiff
They may look softer, because the chassis and the body are quite heavy. I did not change my shocks.
On mine everything is steel and cnc aluminium and brass but still very stiff.. im going to try without spring at all and different oil inside
What is that thing you were using to flex out your rc? I want one
This is a lifting plattform for labs. You can order them at Aliexpress or Banggood.

Where did you get that Toyota body?
MST
ooookkkkkkk tq teacherrr
niceeeee mathhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Came here for tips not a math lesson
Look carefully, and you will see the tips, well proven by physics! 😉
Me who thought it was a real car😅😂😂😂
only for people who lazy to read the title.
Need a video of just the build this doesn’t help me at all doesn’t tell me how to build my truck
It does if the vehicle is top heavy get new shocks
I think your putting way more thinking into this. It's about the trial and error. That's the hobby. Not knowing how something will react is the fun. We don't want cookie cutter formula. That's just not a real crawler enthusiast.
Some people are love doing maths, and some people are love doing things. And we are here love watching utube with good content 😊
Your missing the point of the hobby. This is radio control. I don't need a flux capacitor to build a time machine. I simply put and older body on it. Your takin the hobby and my comment way to serious. It's all about the fun. If math is fun for you......then by all means have at it. Me, I'm just going to keep drivin without a calculator
Approaching the problem with maths is by far the most objective, accurate and efficient way to resolve it. It's the bread and butter of what actual engineers do in real life and those same principles apply to radio controlled vehicles too. If you don't care about the engineering that goes into how these cars work, more power to you. But gatekeeping who is and isn't a "real crawler enthusiast" based on who approaches the problem objectively vs. those who don't is beyond asinine.
