It also has brass front amd rear bumper mounts (talking between the frame rails), front brass portal covers unner and outer, rear brass portal covers, and steel rock sliders. Have you heard any buzz about a soon coming Axe Edition V2 of the Redcat Racing Gen 8 Axe Edition? I called them yesterday and inquired about why nobody appears to have any Gen 8 Axe Edition kits. They informed me I can get one from them. I tried really hard to get more information on it, but he was only allowed to hunt to the strong possibility of it coming very soon, leaving off by saying to me the Axe Edition is a great RC truck I'll be very happy with, but also stating I'd be very happy with either truck (either being the Axe V1 or the Axe V2). I'm dying to know more. BTW, I also asked if said vehicle was about to be released, would it be more expensive or the same price as the current Axe Edition, and the answer was "The same price".

I wish I'd seen this video before buying a crawler in the first place... I bought a Redcat Racing Everest-10. It's been a journey learning literally everything on my own. Thanks internet. The owner's manual was actually quite useful considering I didn't know my ass from an ESC at the time. There's lots of super obscure things too like "hey, this one part is completely universal on every crawler"... Is it? Well, shit! I wish I'd know that before buying the one direct from Redcat Racing because I could get one half price elsewhere. I added dual steering. I'm disappointed that the "3ch radio" that shipped in the crawler doesn't actually use channel 3. Come on!!! Now I gotta spend like $500 on a 6 channel radio to do all the shit I want to do (like dual motors some day maybe)... Anyway... I don't consider any of the money I spent on my little toy wasted because it's all usable on other RCs. Even parts I got that aren't compatible (like the steel pinions and spur gears I ordered that won't work... I can keep them for future RC projects). Anyway... I named my RC. Its name is Creepy as in Creepy Crawley. So... right now Creepy is $400 if you count parts and upgrades. I really like my 1.9" tires but the original 2.2" that shipped are now waterproofed so my new "mud set" will be the original Redcat Racing 2.2" and my "rock set" will be the Injora 120mm I've mostly taken my RC through north-central Pennylvania clay-mud and let me tell ya... fall through spring... it doesn't matter what tread your tiny tires have. You'll get caked over and after a few feet of puddle or mud pit you're traction surface is just mud on mud. I believe (I don't have the tires handy right now) the text on the side of my Injora set of tires says "Rocks Tyre Super Swamper". They're a little softer than the Redcat originals but they're narrower and aren't enough to float the whole crawler where the original 2.2 were big enough to float over deep mud. Also... the Injora tires have a metal wheel and there's less thread to engage with the axles (meaning you gotta be double sure you put loctite on when you swap wheels). Total aside... I'm thinking that I should maybe get like monster jam tires for real mud crawling. That seems like a tread pattern that would actually shed the caked on mud. If anyone has experience with a monster truck V pattern in 1/10th scale in sticky clay mud... let me know if it's good. Or bad. I really want to know.
Madrid Spain 🇪🇸 usually likes to run canyon tyres for crawling. Here everything is very dry. Dry stone dry earth dry sand dry dust. Up in mountain areas you might find water zones, but all around canyon

News normally exaggerates but not in this case, we have had quite a bit of flooding, Matlock where our Daughter lives copped it worse than I’ve ever seen it. Both the Derwent and Trent and the river Don burst their banks, it’s eased now but on Saturday past which is a good week after the worst I went through some bad flooding near Rowsley just off Chatsworth Grounds. The ground is water logged so we don’t need anymore bad rains or it will kick off again. We live halfway up a steep hill so we’re good. Got to feel it for those who aren’t. As fortunate. They will keep chucking houses up on land that’s known to flood, Dave x
I have a redcat Gen 8 scout and I thought the factory tires were decent and good all around tires…same with the stock tires on the TRX4. Sure there’s better ones for specific needs but they’re good overall purpose tires!
@@SebastianLong I know a guy who worked for kyoshu or Tamiya. He drove tuned Buggys and alway cleaned his bearing completely of any oil or grease. But I think that had other reasons
I've got two more mistakes/fixes for you. Never...Ever run your Traxxas TRX4 RC before you pull it all down, regresse it with marine grease or the white lithium stuff, minimum, This includes all moving parts, including the transmission. Because Traxxas in their infinite wisdom and cheapness (rofl) use the shittiest grease or don't even bother to use grease at all. I can't stress "SHITTY" enough here. Tighten the 11 tooth gear too, mine wasn't tight and it chewed the plastic gear...I could go on for another hour...sigh! Your spot on. Great video. Use Inox in Australia, WD-40 is crap. But I prefer my dirt crawling with wet rock capability but most of us run high end electronics
What is the white car on the far right? I’m looking for a buggy utv type car. I like that one.
Cut & siped 2.2 mudslinger 2 XL 's im in alabama we got slick rocks and even slicker mud !
Love your videos. There so informative. Keep up with the great work with the channel
Do you have any tips on what software you use for editing? I’m looking back at my commentary and it’s pretty Amateur and cheesy? Any tips? I’m the more talk behind the camera and film type
I live on the north coast of Mexico tijuana and I use canyon trail 1.9 and they work 👍👍👍
I wish I'd seen this video before buying a crawler in the first place...
Cool video!
Madrid Spain 🇪🇸 usually likes to run canyon tyres for crawling. Here everything is very dry. Dry stone dry earth dry sand dry dust. Up in mountain areas you might find water zones, but all around canyon
I have had good luck with club5 racing for parts for the redcat. I have the gen 8 and the g8 axe love them both. Great channel thanks and keep crawling.
I'm on the fence on the gen8 axe over the v2 any thoughts. Is it worth the extra $ for the axe or is the V2 good enough
@@276rclife6 I have both its definitely worth the money for the axe the brushless motor and 6ch controller are far superior. I put a fusion in the v2 and ended up buying the flysky controller as well. HAPPY CRAWLING
@@caddydaddy53ify thanks for the info..I'm new to crawling and don't want to waste my money..what battery's you use
@@276rclife6 2s 7600mah 35c will give you 6 to 7 hrs of trail time. I use 2s 5000mha 25c gives 4hrs and I bring an extra just in case. Venom or Lectron pro. Steer clear of cheap batteries get a good charger and a lipo bag to store and charge them in.
@@caddydaddy53ify ok thanks
In the midwest the Deep Woods tires by Duratrax are my favorite. They are also cheap.
Any recommendations on a good starting crawler for a newbie?
TRX4 Sport is probably one of my top 3. Second place is a Axial SCX 10 II and third is Redcat Gen 8 Axe Edition.
Well the SCX10 1 came with proline flat iron 1.9 so I haven't had a need to change them.

Richard my good friend, your my bestest new mate. Love from North Nottinghamshire, South Derbyshire, xxxxxxx
Great, and much needed advice x
David how's the weather? Has the rain eased? It looked awful on the Beebs website.
But that TRX-4 spare tire looks so cool :)
Put it back on when it's sitting on the shelf. Put it in you pocket when the going gets steep.
U have a great intro love it
Well done Rich!
You never want to spray your bearings with wd40 becuause it will strip the grease out of them the best thing to use in maintenance spray
yes but it get the water out fast, and I just re-oil them
Bearings without grease still coated in WD40 is still better than bearings with water and dirt.
@@SebastianLong I know a guy who worked for kyoshu or Tamiya. He drove tuned Buggys and alway cleaned his bearing completely of any oil or grease. But I think that had other reasons
@@Nordlicht05 The fastest bearings are degreased with just a drop of high quality light oil like sewing machine oil.
1.9 and 2.2 is just wheel size there are lots of different tire sizes
And G'day from Australia.

My favorite tires are mud slingers
Hello I’m just wondering do you know a cheap good quality I’m Rockcrawler because I’m trying to get into like Ed rock Crawling in that but like I live in Australia
Redcat everet 10 would be my starting point. Cheap, capable and lots of mods out there for it.
Thank you
Fs racing rock crawler, best value as it is a copy of the scx10 but with many higher spec parts....
Older video, but still applies 100%, I live in upstate new york, and I love the duratrax SHOWDOWN c3, inexpensive and wicked climbing ability for my trx4, anyone ever give feedback on weight for the redcat? I'm still looking, and this video is 2 years old lol!
I just got a redcat gen7 for my daughter the weight distribution is actually amazing , her first crawler ever and she was creeping up serious inclines that my revo would spin out or fip over on .
@@outdoorrelaxation5511 good times in your future brother, a family that RC'S together, STAYS TOGETHER!!!
I have three crawler first was scx10 with clod buster body next is trx4 blazer then I got trx6 snap-on hauler and I run spectrum DX6R DX5C DX4C dX2E but I still don't play in water because I have a GT power with built-in esc and Bluetooth lights engine sound Vibration
Not sure if it has been mentioned before but everyone should own a small hair dryer wd40 and synthetic grease. I shower my cars after every run than use the hair dryer to get the water out of the areas that would normally settle hang drying
Merci stai tres pratic... jle savai pas qu'il y avais 2 grandeur de pneu
Just subbed to your channel. I am thinking of getting the Red Cat Gen 8
the new redcat crawler I will cover as soon as JJ customs gets them back in stock! The AXE version is selling out as soon as they ship
