I have thoroughly enjoyed this project. I've been modeling close to 60 years and this is one of the finest depictions of a Tiger that I have seen. All of the techniques you used were explained quite well. The benefit for all of us is; they are techniques any of us can use. No high dollar stuff. Just an investment of time and patience. Well done, sir!
It took a while but the Tiger is finished... I hope you enjoyed the series! I'll see you again the next Friday with a modern tank 😊 And Panzermeister36 uploaded another Tiger video on his channel as well so make sure to check it out! Link is in the video description.
can you do a panther. the RFM interior would be a good series (and i have one and i want to follow one of your tutorials because they are so good and clear)
That Tiger is simply awesome... I followed the entire project from the start so it feels weird that its over now, but as i said its a an awesome and cool looking tiger!
Simply fantastic, the best Tiger model i ever seen, and every modeler knows Tiger models one can see thousands on all model shows or in internet, but Martin youre one impression me much.
I honestly really liked the "Weird" camo. The concept of a tank just made of leftover bits is very interesting. Can't wait to see what your next project is. I'm always excited for that new series video.
Hi Martin, I have just sat through this entire playlist watching the Franken Tiger turn from an ugly duckling to an even uglier duck! It's not pretty but still a work of art and amazingly accurate. I love the attention to detail and the constant explanations of what you are doing and why and, to make it even more interesting, the occasional historic facts thrown in. Brilliant work. Thank you very much for teaching me loads of new and interesting techniques. Stay safe my friend!
I am now convinced you are 175 years old, build, drove and destroyed EVERY tank ever made. On every Continent. Period. Here is a new subscriber, your work is dope.
I've been working my way through all of your playlists, and this is definitely a stand-out episode, the photos at the end are beyond incredible, muh friend
Man I own the Tamiya 1/16 scale RC Abrams tank I painted a year or so ago, and I've binge watched a ton of your videos, it just makes me want to strip her down and paint all over again. R I P XD
As much as you call it ugly, that's a very nice looking Tiger, Martin! Thanks for the video and all the techniques you showed us, can't wait for the next video. Have a great weekend.
That Tiger is just beautifully battle-scarred! That piece comes from the other end of the spectrum, contrary to the mint factory condition. And it probably, you'll know, "tells more stories", stimulates more the imagination than a fresh and inexperienced grünschnabel ;) I watched all the episodes of this FrankenTiger series with enjoyment, and the result is astonishing!
I could go on and on and on about how outright AMAZING your work and this model turned out! I've watched through the entire series on this Tiger and I am just blown away! The authenticity and detail is just astounding, I'm sure this model could be dropped into a movie scene and you could get as close as you wanted and I would challenge anyone to distinguish this from a real tank. Looking at your finished photos it is nearly impossible to get my brain to register that this is actually made of plastic, it's very hard to believe. Absolutely beautiful work! Keep 'em coming!
Really great. After probably 20 years away from model building, I started back around Christmas 2019. I’ve built three, all 1/72 scale aircraft. I worked in aviation 23 years and am an airplane geek. Watching your videos inspired me to build armor. I’m half way through an AAVP-7A1 and just ordered this same Tiger Kit. It won’t like nearly as awesome as yours, but I plan to watch this series again as I go, and hope to attain at least 25% of the look of your efforts. Thank you for posting these vids
In all honesty, this is the best Tiger model i have ever seen. It was a joy to follow the build every Friday and whatever you will do next, i will be here to watch that as well.
Feel happy about it! As you know, we ourselves are usually our strongest critics, but judging from what I read below your videos and what I think myself, this Tiger is for sure something to be very proud of!
I absolutely love this Model, call it wierd as much as you like I think it is incredibley satisfying to look at, and I cant wait to see the next thing on your bench.
I'm following a LOT of scale modelling channels here on RUclips and they are all (with some exceptions...) good craftsmen/women but you stand out of that crowd by far!! Your way of building is so innovative and creative!! You invent your own stuff and follow no rules (if there are any..) and always end up with magnificent results. Whenever I watch some other channel I expect more or less the same effort and build quality as your builds but it mostly ends with spraying and some light, out-of-the-box weathering...and I click away..guess you spoiled me!!
Have only just started watching the nightshift... 3:36 "Stoke levels through the roof" .... brilliant !! The model looks fantastic really realistic. I will go back and look though the build. Really enjoyed your enthusiasm. Thanks
Randomly had your newer T-90 video pop up on my feed today. Never once have watched or searched for any model kit videos on youtube, but so glad I found your channel! Your skills and craftsmanship and dedication is amazing. This is the third video of yours I’m watching now, and you got a new subscriber! These videos are so nice and relaxing to watch
Honestly, this is my favourite model of yours. You did an absolutely incredible job with this, and I LOVE the mismatched camo. It looks lived-in, battle-worn and intensely practical, which I find is incredibly underrepresented in modelling. You have done an awesome job, and if you ever get sick of it you can post it my way 👌😉 I can't wait to see what you come up with next 😊
Honestly, I had my doubts in the beginning about the exposed grey primer underneath the zimmerit, but after the grey was toned down with dust and earth effects... it’s simply a masterpiece! Please don’t be overly critical on yourself! The fact you has the guts to attempt this example (with exposed grey prime) is a statement in itself. It truly is the best Tiger I’ve ever seen, in any scale.
I know this is a late reply to this video but I have to say this is one good looking model, you explain all of your techniques well and the end product is beautiful and have to say this is one of the best looking Tiger I models I’ve see.
Great video and great build, looks incredible. Truly inspiring tips you give which will be in my mind on my current build. Your tips saved a previous build of a KV-1 I started in 2018 and finished a year later (first time building for about 20 or so years at the time) as I went back to it and applied the things you showed and the improvements were night and day in comparison. So thank you for these videos and keep em up! I've sent links of your videos to friends who have started this hobby to give them the same inspiration you've given to me.
Martin I really enjoy this model and going back to your basic techniques, love them ! I think you did an excellent job and please keep sharing your art with us, thanks !
Tough Kitty, Cold Kitty, big machine of doom - Deadly Kitty, Panzer Kitty - Boom, boom, boom! - Great Work! I enjoyed watching you work on this and adding layers. Please do more :)
I love it! I'm 14 and I've been doing modeling since I was 12. I have 7 ww2 tanks. I watch your vids so I can improve and buy new materials to make my models look good. And, how does a man cover a tiger model in dust and descusting mud, but not get a single drop of paint or powder on his perfectly white workspace? I mean like, I literally mix my paints straight on my desk, and use superglue too.
I'm 67 and started modeling at 7 when texture products didn't exist, acrylics didn't exist, and only pro artists used airbrushes on cars and surfboards. All we had was Testor's enamel and paint brushes- if you wanted to do special effects you had to get really creative and that meant making some spectacular messes like grinding up real rust to apply with clear flat paint. It gets easier to get neater, is all. Don't sweat it, it comes slowly but naturally.
Martin, I was watching every part of this Tiger build (as I am actually building late version), and really enjoyed this serie with your tips. The result is...mate, that's just breathtaking. Congrats and deep respect...
Great looking Tiger; really fantasticly awesome. This has been an amazing series of vids - more like this please. Great vid, thanks for sharing. And no bucket on the back? You monster....
To me personally the level of detail and execution is magnificent, ugly tiger? beauty is in the eye of the beholder, to me your rendition is a fantastic my friend.
I'm used to the weird camo now and with the weathering it doesn't look weird, like, at all. It's actually perfect now and not overdone. It's totally real and huge. ^
Absolutely fantastic series! I learned a lot, most of all the importance of patience.. Thank you for the deep dive into the details - truly appreciated. Looking forward to your next project!
LOL...Rye Fields kit, Voyager PE, gun barrels, metal tracks have just been purchased...zimmerit tool and masks/decals are next...thanks bud for the inspiration!
love what you have done whiff this model, can’t wait for the next great build serie I really enjoyed watching/ listening to you and i learned so much..........
I feel something like the Gruppe Fehrmann is interesting, as their imperfections give each tank its own character, which I always love to see. No one tank nor crew is the same, and any unique features, like stowage or spare tracks and their placement, hints at the tank's history.

Some quality work in this series Martin, well done. Even though you missed, what for me Is the defining feature of the Tiger 1, I.e. the bucket, it still makes for a highly realistic representation of the marque.
Watching this, I have to go back to see a lot more. I took a break to build a 31" 20,000 Leagues Nautilus resin model, the first model I've done in ten years. Now done, I almost want to buy another to do it completely differently. I've begun to realize that taking photos helps a great deal in catching areas I missed, based on the not too hot lighting I had building the sub. But these videos of yours and others helped me raise my game. And also not do what everybody else does with the sub...to add rust to it. I went much more for a Statue of Liberty surface. You may be done with this, but I would think there is a problem in displaying these because none get to stand out separately. One tank on a small table in a living room would draw a lot of attention.
I JUST Bought a 21st Century TIGER 1 Tank in 1/32 scale... and I want to do THIS to it! WOW! It might be "Ugly" but it's AUTHENTIC/REALISTIC and THAT is what COUNTS and is SO COOL about this build! Damn Martin... You are just BEYOND AMAZING! VERY Inspirational! Thanks for another GREAT "HOW TO" VID! :D
Wonderful series. You have such an eye for detail AND the chops to execute putting them on your models. BTW, there is a fellow named Luke Towan who does unbelievable dioramas. You can find him under his name or Boulder Creek Railroad. As the name suggests he works mostly in HO scale. But he has the same eye for detail that you do. He often uses pigment powder that is sold to color tile grout. It is cheaper than modeling products and would lend itself to your texture details. It's just s thought but you might like his videos and get some ideas as well. You are the champ. I have found no other modeler who can hold a candle to you.
