I would love to see you going out of your comfort zone more! Like painting something like a gunpla or something from warhammer. Seeing you tackle something so diffrent from your usual would be really intresting!
This is the greatest model build from start to finish I have ever seen. The combination of rust and overall weathering effects are astounding! If this build doesn't win a first place award at any model show then the judges are out of their tiny little minds. Excellent job Uncle Night Shift! 👍🥇🏆
Maybe the dirt and other debris collected to the top of the tank because soldiers climbed up and down the tank with dirty boots. Especially around the hatch. Or just explosions tossing dirt around. Great video as always by the way!
It makes perfect sense that a shell burst in close proximity to the tank would throw earth and grass onto its upper surfaces. Nicely played Uncle Night Shift!
i cant remember if i have commented on this video but if i did forgive me, but it gets better everytime i watch it something new, but for the result to be so beautiful is incredible as if the tank it self is a diorama occuring, its alive with character , as if it has a story to tell, i cant tell if its a desert africa tiger or a eauropean tiger, its very beautiful.
Ah, always a nice break to watch a Night Shift video! One of these days I will get off my ass and back to building 1/100 tanks with some of the tricks you've shown!
I couldn't find a sea ball but I did manage to get a shower ball. It's mostly whatever I can find in the drain. House-keeping and model-improvement in one = peak efficiency.
Nice job, as usual. It is beginning to take form and looks extremely realistic! I don't find acetone all that offensive. What is really strong is common lacquer thinner. I keep a can of it around for cleaning my airbrushes. It will remove almost any type of paint from your needle, nozzle, etc. See ya'll next week.
I can explain the dirt and stuff around the turret hatches. Whenever it’s muddy or grimy, we always knocked out boots off on the hatch before climbing in, otherwise we’d get mud all over our seats.
Looking good she is! And still more vids to come looking forward to seeing the figure if used and a wee base? Tracks are just perfect for my liking unless it's of the video you see of it turning its 360 in the mud I'm sure everyone has seen that clip before? One of my favourite views of the jagdtiger!
I am loving this series Uncle, and I have learnt a lot of great techniques to use on my own Jagdtiger. Keenly looking forward to the next episode. Cheers from Australia!
Great Stuff Martin - any chance of a "sanding special" episode? The files you use and when, how to get rid of "knock out" spots in plastic, gap filling with putty vs. glue etc.
I ordered VMS Matt/Satin/Gloss varnish after watching last week's video to play around with. Satin and Matt covering without much frosting would be really nice.
Tip: when fixing gravel and dirt, spray it with some Ipa before using water based glue. It will help tthe glue flow better and get inside the dirt. ( got it from Luke Towan)
@15:26 Laughs in 1/16 scale Leopard 2A6 Tracks who's 164 pins I had to press fit myself into the track end connectors using my Drill Press as a makeshift Press Fit device because it was the last set they had in stock, and they couldn't be bothered anymore to ship it factory assembled. At least they gave me like 30.- off and shipped it with their last assembly guide block aiding in pinning the track 🤣
I am learning so much from these videos, thank you! Coming from a wargaming background, the attention to detail you put into these models is incredible. Speaking of wargaming, have you ever considered doing a video for something like Bolt Action or ... and I hesitate to suggest this as I'm sure I'll get flak for suggesting it ... Warhammer 40K vehicles? I know you primarily work on larger scale models and mainly display pieces, but I'd love to see what you could do on something like a Redemptor Dreadnought, Executioner tank, etc or something more familiar like a Panther or Sherman in Bolt Action. Many of us like to go a bit nuts on the detail with these smaller scale pieces. I would especially love to see what tips you have regarding which weathering techniques are more durable than others (e.g. painted simulated dust vs pigments, etc), basing ideas, etc. A video like that would probably attract a large number of new subscribers too. :) Anyhow, fantastic work as always!
Absolutely amazing work as usual. It's mind blowing. Also great choice of camera, I use the same one for my videos. Such a great little camera the Canon M50. BTW just out of curiosity, what lense are you using?
Yes, dirt & debris would accumulate on the upper surfaces, sheltering from air attack in wooded areas, crew climbing in & out, traveling in convoy, many ways for sure.
Thank you for another fantastic video. A request: Would it be possible to add to the video at the end a list of the paints and weathering products you have used in the various stages?
Looks f*cking awesome! Can't help thinking that for historical accuracy it should have a snapped drive sprocket, or burnt out transmission, or busted steering differentials lol
You are real masterbuilder. The jagdtiger was relative new from the factory in the spring of 45,were they this dirty and weathered? I have never seen red linings around the ironcross before, was this just on some units?
I really wish I could find some of Wilder's textured earth. His company has been shutdown since the start of covid. =( Edit: Wilder's site is back open! Only shipping to USA and Canada as of this writing, but they're working on it!
It makes perfect sense that dirt accumulating on the tops of Tanks would be accurate. I would assume that the crew would have lots of mud and dirt on their boots. Even "caked" dry clumps.
I know im probably way late to this party but you should look into rifler files they would be perfect for adding wear to your tracks on the next build and i also wanted to say thanks your videos got me through lots of 14 plus hour shifs at my last job haha
ofcourse there is dirt ontop of the tank, the crew walking around with dirty boots (especially in wet/muddy conditions) leaves alot of dirt, i worked 5 years as a machine operator (forest) and leaving the dirt outside can sometimes be a little tricky. one thing i can also point out that may help model painters is that steel tracks gain shallow rust pretty quickly (a few days not operating in wet autumn conditions and the steel gains a thin yellowish tint of rust) but as soon as you start to drive (a few hours of operation) all the surface rust is polished away giving you a mirror finish of metal on the outer most part of the track. the richer the sand content of the soil, the faster and more polished the track gets (pine forests for example usually have a high degree of sand content)
i can also point out that rust doesnt seem to form good at all in below freezing conditions, i guess thats since the moisture content of the air is so low at below freezing.
Let me start by telling that your modeling is just amazing. I have learn so mutch with it. The only problem is...I'm a 1/16 german guy lol. Just wanna ask, what about a 1/16 build? There are lots of people that are in to it and not many videos about it. Will be time consuming, but will love whatching your techniques. Keep the good amazing top job.
Where should I look to buy a sea ball like you use? I live in the netherlands, and not realy close to the sea, tried some garden centers but the just gave me a funny look when I asked 😂
Love your vids! Informative and inspiring to try and use your techniques. I’m not even a true modeller (I’m collecting Warhammer 40k miniatures) but your narration and modelling skills are impressive and enjoyable to listen and watch respectively. Even though about painting some Leman Russ, Baneblade or Predator tank? I’m sorry if you’ve heard this question previously and already answered, I’m new here 😇
I can't stop looking at the rust tones

Haha, Im generally having good time watching these videos but this one made me burst out laughing
Pretty damn cool................This guy is one of my best students.
I would love to see you going out of your comfort zone more! Like painting something like a gunpla or something from warhammer. Seeing you tackle something so diffrent from your usual would be really intresting!
Normally I don’t watch the painting and weathering but it was too interesting to leave alone!
The level of artistry here eclipses the Mona Lisa.

if you ever have time and money id absolutely love to see a bigger model made in to rc with all the details
Maybe the dirt and other debris collected to the top of the tank because soldiers climbed up and down the tank with dirty boots. Especially around the hatch. Or just explosions tossing dirt around. Great video as always by the way!
Still not understand why there is dislike ?! Great work anyway!

Anxious to see the finished model with crew now... go, cat, go!

The last time I was this early, Creighton Abrams was asking Patton for permission to take a "big risk" with 4th Armored's CCR.

I don't know how you manage to remain so patient in your modeling. It really is impressive.

Looks fantastic so far Martin! Cheers!
That is one "beefy tank"!!... I would like to do one in 1/8th R.C. Great work, as always.
What about dusty boot tracks on the top? idk if its a common technique, but it may help with the "dusty" feel. You could cast a silicone stamp
Hope to see some of your finished models when shows are up and running again Martin

best model then I ever see

its been absolutely amazing to watch you build this tank over the past few weeks, i can't stress how good this looks.

This Chanel never ceases to amaze me, awesome job as usual
The best content, and the best way to start my weekend, your work is awesome
I love watching you work on models, always a lot of tips and inspiration to pull from these videos!
Every time I watch your videos it gives me the urge to work on my model immediately. Amazing stuff, like always! Keep it going ;)
Great Stuff Martin - any chance of a "sanding special" episode? The files you use and when, how to get rid of "knock out" spots in plastic, gap filling with putty vs. glue etc.
As each of your projects, it turned out to be a really great deal
This is looking ludicrously good 🤩
Yay its Friday!! We all know what that means!
I'm glad Hans may end up commanding 331!
It looks so good! 😊
Have a nice weekend and thank you for the video!
I ordered VMS Matt/Satin/Gloss varnish after watching last week's video to play around with. Satin and Matt covering without much frosting would be really nice.
Hi, Instead of using pva glue , you can use acrylic matte medium with a drop of dishwashing liquid to have a matte finish with pigments.
Regards.
Tip: when fixing gravel and dirt, spray it with some Ipa before using water based glue. It will help tthe glue flow better and get inside the dirt. ( got it from Luke Towan)
I guess Luke doesn't use it on models painted with acrylic paints :)
Another insane model right there! I'll have to try and keep some of these techniques in mind on my upcoming 1/35 armour builds . . .
Fabulous build, great tips on how to.

Love your work. My only "dig" is that at the end 2 of the roadwheels are not in contact with the track during the revolving scene.
i realy like screen shadowing to focus on what part you talking about.. like like xo
Oh my God this Is so awesome, i think it's turning out One of the best of yours😍😍😍
Awww heck yeah, new nightshift!
Beautiful work!

Been waiting all week! so excited!

That new camera be looking crisp
Great work man! Greetings from Poland.
The people who dislike this should go home and think about what they’ve done then come back and like this video
The detail you put into these models is insane. Nice work. How many hours do you have into a finished piece like this one when it is finished?
Thank you for another fantastic video. A request: Would it be possible to add to the video at the end a list of the paints and weathering products you have used in the various stages?
I truly enjoy your channel even though I haven’t built a model in decades. Have you ever detailed a cold weather tank scene with snow on the model?
looks stunning!!!!
best tracks around
Masterpiece, as always!
Makes sense that there is dirt and debris on top...it wouldn't just be from tracks flicking it around, what about nearby blasts?
Looks f*cking awesome! Can't help thinking that for historical accuracy it should have a snapped drive sprocket, or burnt out transmission, or busted steering differentials lol
This one was abandoned after the gun got damaged tho :)

I think another way the dirt would get around the top hatch would be from the crew climbing in and out
It looks really good so far. Will you do a diorama for it?
