You probably won't see this in the sea of comments but the model is gorgeous. I appreciate the painting on the shells and the over all weathering. Over the last few months of watching your videos I've steadily been trying various techniques and ideas talked about in your videos and they have greatly improved my own work. Keep it up! I'm always looking forward to the next video.
I am building a King Tiger with my 9 year old son, and this series has been perfect for us to learn what we need to do. It won’t come off so well as “Uncle’s” as some things have been glued at obscure angles, but we’ll do our best
The most realistic model I've seen in a long time. You're truly a master and it gives all of us something to aim for so please keep doing what you do so well.
Ohne of the Jerrycans you painted was a jerrycan for water. They differ from the other ones because they normally have a karge white cross painted on both sides so the Tank crews wouldnt confuse them with normal jerrycans while refueling
Beautiful! I've never done a tank model but I want to now! A neat grease effect is to mix up a small batch of vaseline with food colouring gel and apply with toothpick. No it will never dry and is applied last over your surface coat, the fun factor is if someone touches it lol hey it will act like actual packed grease. Still an impressive example thank you uncle night shift!!!
I am amazed by your work. Super detail, great effects. I'm still trying to get the simple things down , I'm not even close to doing the things you do. One day, I'll get better. . But I sure better hurry up, I'm 58 , clock is ticking. . LoL !!! But really , very, very nice. I'm picking up a little bit everytime I watch. Thanks for sharing your builds.
Another fantastic looking armour model, well done. I really admire your approach to wearhering and the fact you work to produce a model that is interesting to look at and not just a replica of a reference photo. If you are looking for an experiment on a future project, try using acrylic paints for pin washing. The trick is to add some liquid soap to my acrylic washes so they behave like enamel washes, (the soap breaks the surface tension and allows the paint to flow like an enamel), but without the smell. And the soap seems to slow the drying time as well allowing for easier clean up. At any rate, thanks for another great video series, gotta love the German cats.
Love this channel. You really inspire me to push my modelling skills and I love the fact that you are also willing to push your skills too even thou you are a grand master IMO
Give me those street cred points for watching every episode! Another excellent series, love all of the stoage and surface details. Can't wait to see you do some figure painting.
Going a bit tank nerd-y for a bit: German tracks usually had wet tracks, where each track joint (sometimes every single bearing, but that varies from vehicle to vehicle and wouldn't apply to ones with wet bushings instead of bearings like Jagdtiger) had a cap that would be filled and refilled with lubricant at regular intervals. This could often get quite nasty and grimey as the tank or half track went along, especially if it got damaged, so that could be a point for adding the grease effects. Anyways, I quite like this model. You've crammed a lot of character into such a large model, and without obscuring any details. Also your having a reference picture of everything reminds me of how some old modelling magazines would have dedicated sections to photos of odd things appearing where they might not be expected, basically as a gentle middle finger to the "that will never happen" kind of people who judge models on 'absolute realism', and that thought amused me a good bit.
I have loved this series Uncle! The finished Jagdtiger is awesome. I have completed quite a few of my own models, with unfinished figures being the last piece of the puzzle. I have been hesitant to try them, so I will be keen to watch how you approach the subject next week. Cheers from Australia1
Such a great looking model Martin! You've really made this cat pop! Ooooh, I'm so looking forward to the next video on the figure. Hey if it doesn't turn out send it to me and I'll paint it up and send it back to you... hell, maybe we could do a collab sometime where figures are involved. KUTGW!
Ive been saving the painting job for this tamiya 1/48 tiger h1 for this upcoming winter break, and ive been trying to watch as many of these videos as i can for inspiration. This is going to be one of my smaller models, but i want it to be one of my most detailed yet
Another excellent build. This one is truly a master work. The knowledge you pass on with each video is very much appreciated. I don't build armor kits (unless they have missiles) but I have used many of your techniques on Automotive builds (think exhaust pipes, mufflers, headers) and most of all in building SF3D/Ma.K (Maschinen Krieger) kits. Which are a type of armor I guess. Thanks.
Aircraft safety wire. .020. .040 .062 stainless 301 annealed totally soft spools are 25 yards and helmets are always kept close to the hatches for quick downing
Miniart German weapons set have the inside detail on the helmets too mate! There bloody stunning to be honest! I have that feild workshop too the ladders are cool so easy to pin and make them folding closed etc I think I have every set lol and that new petrol pump set is very cool only wish they included clear past for the top glass globe's!
Hey man, thanks for this series! I used a lot of your weathering techniques on my 1/35 hetzer. It's been a while since I weathered a tank, so your videos were really convenient :)
Learnt so much on this series...Inspired!!! Stupendous work Night Shift! Thanks for the friendly and casual approach... gives a load of encouragement to attempt at something that would otherwise be a lot more intimidating.
Hey Nightshift! I have an Idea for an upcoming project. What about a starting A4/V2 Rocket or an firing Tank Diorama? I'm interested in this flames/explosion techniques!
Absolutely fantastic work, been following many of your builds and they are all very inspiring. More than anything I enjoy your casual easy to enjoy video style and it’s really helped me improve. Thanks!
This is so awesome. If you had taken actual jagdtiger photos and photoshopped them to look like a small model, it would have looked less real :P Now i regret throwing out the few tanks i built. With your great videos i could have made them worth throwing out the dining table and my piano for!
I just want to build one, just one model tank that is half as good. I pray I have enough time left to do it ! The Jagdtiger is 100% PERFECT and your explanations are idiot proof ( I'm in trouble with that part ). Even if we can't build to your level, it's always something to shoot for. Be safe.
I use Humbrol for this rust tone you say you don't get that tone of trust in enamels mate! It's the nicest rust ever and you can thin it and use it in airbrush! I use it for a base tone quite alot but yeah Humbrol definitely do that rust tone you done in track links there mate!
I would like thank you for the tips for this model. I built one using similar techniques from this build. Don't know how to send a DM to you and show you a picture or two. Lots of firsts for me building it. Weld beads, use of actual dirt and sea grass and so on. It turned out pretty good in my opinion.
I think chipping on the shell casings actually makes a lot of sense. Of course when they've not been fired they'd be handled with care - although even then scratches and chips are inevitable in some small quantity - but once fired those casings would probably have been literally thrown out of the tank and then left to rattle about on the engine deck for at least as long as the combat continued. So lots of steel-on-steel contact and probably a lot of bumping and shaking as the tiger moved, even across a good quality road the vibration from the engine would rattle them and the jolts from sudden stops and starts (which would likely happen frequently, due to inexperienced crews and the design of the thing itself). In conclusion I think it's a good move. Any military hardware that's painted rarely stays in pristine condition for long, especially not if it's something fairy disposable. The only reason i think it might look weird is because we're so sued to brass casings which are pretty much always a solid gold metallic colour
Next week: apply chipping and rust tones to a German uniform
Savage
He could probably do it and make it look good!
Spoiler alert: how to add chipping to a set of binoculars :)

I am currently laying down after spending all day finishing my bulldog (also my first model)
Boy, I'm glad I don't build anymore because I'd have to give it up after seeing all your amazing, superior builds

Bro, that’s one of the best armor models I’ve ever seen. Good job 👍🏼
Turned out pretty well in my opinion
Me that I think it is the best plastic model ever seen
So glad I found your channel when I was just about to try weathering. Best video quality on RUclips with such a charming voice!
Great work, don't understand how anyone can give it a thumbs down.
Fantastic looking Jagdtiger.
Worth watching every time , the details speak for themselves regardless of how long it takes .
