An Auger bit is exactly what you are looking for, as to the large cone center, yeah that is completely made up by fiction. You can find some rather massive ones if you look up "excavator with auger drill". That might help you out in the future. If i'd known what you were working on I could have sent you some pics from my construction site as we recently had one of these creating some holes for telephone poles. On a different note I love your videos, they help me with little projects I enjoy doing myself. They are always a relaxing way to spend my time watching and learning some of your techniques to use myself. Thanks for the great content man!

Might now be what you was looking for but a Rolling cutter bit. (drilling method for the discovery and extraction of hydrocarbons such as crude oil and natural gas. This type of tool is alternately referred to as a rock bit) Think of the Armadillo drill from movie Armageddon. This style of a bit could be used by the more wealthy mining companies. (the first thing i thought of when you was making the drill bit was Big Daddy from Bioshock lol)

Several other commentators claim that the stresses would be enough to shatter any real world metal drill bit, and while that's not my field of expertise I'm inclined to believe them.
Real world rock drills tend to look like a shaft with a funny shaped blob on the end (the shape of the "blob" varies depending on style). You can see examples of a few different designs if you do an image search for "rock drill bit".

@Argosh they really don't HAVE many uses, that's the thing.
They're good at pulling, so basically their only use is as a drill that simultaneously pulls itself inward and removes the waste from the hole, and for moving objects upward along their length.
The third proposal (screw-treads, using a pair that counter-rotate) isn't efficient enough and has major drawbacks vs normal treads or wheels, so it's never been used.

Then there's also that scientist from the East who needs transparent crystals as she is experimenting with materials for lenses suitable to transmit Light Amplified by the Stimulated Emission of Radiation. It's a risky but rich business.

That does look like an auger or archimedes screw, like others have said. Not really used for drilling deep holes (where transporting material out of the hole is very much a vital part), and more used in punching through and widening a hole in relatively thin material. You'd use an auger to put a hole into a cross bar. Archimedes Screw is a water transport system, using the screw ridges, rotation, and gravity to move water uphill.

A possible use for the crystals being mined is that they are this universe's equivalent of industrial diamond: not too hard to be cut by good steel, but making the best tips and coating for other heavy or precision machinery. Seeing the snow mech again makes remember there aren't that many snow scenes xD maybe some more snow scenes with some Canadian inspiration for that would be cool

Maybe for another one you could dye the resin pre-cracking for more varied gems. Ones in the floors could also hide lights to uplight the other gems and features of the surface. Still very cool, there is something so god damn satisfying about watching it all come together from just...bits.
