I was really surprised to see my old Fehrmann Tiger model, and AFV article as inspriation for your Tiger model project! I did not have more reference for the project than you have. The three pictures widely known was what I had. So as you, i used a great deal of imagination! Especially regarding the color scheme. I wanted to make somthing special, that look good on the model and at the same time is not totally unrealistic.. same thing is the color of the turret numbers. the light green color is my best guess, knowing that the are definitely not red, as red will appear dark, almost black on a black and white photo, and on these photos they are a very light color.. I am looking forward to see your finished model!!! It looks great so far! Happy modeling! Jens Kronvold Frederiksen
This is so awesome! Thank you Jens for the inspirational model and article packed with information. I'm really glad there are only 3 available photos... now I can sleep more peacefully knowing the rest is up to everyone's imagination :) Your color interpretation is the most reasonable, and I've come to the same conclusion. There was a little bit of debate about the numbers, some people suggested they might be dark yellow, but 1. I felt like the Tiger would be too "colorful" and 2. they seem to be the same shade of grey like the (supposedly) green parts, at least on one of the photos. It also makes sense if there were paint shortages at the end of the war, and the only available was the new standard olive green. But let me tell you... it's not an easy model to paint!

An excellent model, unbelievably good work. One point about the flaps on the exhaust though. They are not for deep wading and they weren't removeable. They are to stop rain and dirt getting down the exhaust and are always in place. The exhaust pressure blows them open when the engine is running and gravity pulls them shut when the engine is off.

You inspired me to try my hand at weld beads. After some trial and error I found that thinning putty a ton and loading it into a needle tip squeeze bottle is a great way to organically make welds. You just squeeze and dab. Repeat.
Since we're talking about Tigers here I just wanted to mention a great movie the Russians did a few years ago called "White Tiger". I picked it up at Dollar Tree for a buck and was surprised at how good it is. It's about a ghostly white-color Tiger that keeps popping up on battlefields and destroying the Soviet armor. The Russians can't seem to defeat it and they begin to think it's supernatural. But finally one young kid who survived an encounter with the White Tiger is given the mission of finding it and destroying it. I won't tell you how it ends because I don't want to spoil the fun of watching it. But also; at the end of the movie is a weird scene where Hitler, apparently after his death,is in some sort of afterlife (purgatory?) where he is sitting in front of a roaring fire trying to explain his actions. Sitting across from him is some mysterious figure dressed in black who never says anything. It's interesting to hear Hitler's comments. The film ends with him staring off into the fire and nothing more is said. It's a pretty good movie for a buck! As for the "White Tiger" they use in the battle sequences,it obviously can't be a real Tiger since I think there is only one operational Tiger left in the world. It's probably a wooden mock-up,and incidentally is shaped more like a King Tiger with that square-shaped turret rather than the rounder Tiger One. I don't know if the movie is on RUclips---maybe it is!
All that brass... so shiny! Looks like you've done a pile of work there Martin. Everything looks great and I really love those weld beads. I look forward to your "ugly" paint job. Hehe.
I got a set of the correct, 'workable' RFM tracks for my Meng G1 Jagdpanther. They were arse and fell apart instantly. They were binned in favour of the R Models late Panther metal tracks with brass pins. Love at first pin. I've since put some RMSH ones on a T-62. Cannot recommend them enough.
I'm currently building a Tamiya Universal Carrier Mk2, and I can honestly say its been one of the best models to build and paint. Great quality, and can be well done with basic tools. I need to make another Tiger, but I've got a B29, a Mistel V, and an M42 to do first...

Thanks for the nice short crisp "lead in". I watched a guy who's videos had a 3 minute lead-in EVERY time. It's like listening to someone's answering machine message that's that long. Makes me want to hang up. I won't compliment you on your model work, you're probably tired of hearing how amazing they are.
Beautiful work! I was a HARD core builder many decades ago, and got to be pretty good. Nothing close to your skills. Really enjoyed your video ( obviously ).
I made my first "Kitty's" circa 1991. Tiger's I and II, followed by a Panther. All Tamiya. My favourite German builds from back then is still the 88mm anti tank Gun being towed by an 8 ton half track.
9:42 i feel your pain with the plastic rye fields track. i did two lengths of it (for a tiger) 92 links per side, 5 parts per link. it was hell. if anyone from rye fields reads this, THE GUIDE HORNS DO NOT NEED TO BE SEPARATE PIECES. they are practically invisible. if its detail they are looking for, they should partner with fruim model and have metal track. this would be SO much easier as you wouldn't have the problem of the pins that connect each part snapping.... i gave up with every tiger, panther, Sherman ect from rye fields and get fruim model track. so much easier and they sag realistically. sorry for the rant but i wanted to make this point. also if you write a long comment people will be more likely to read it apparently.

Tamiya kits are always guaranteed to be fun and hassle free! nice choice!
@@NightShiftScaleModels they are such good quality, and make building very calming, in my opinoon
Thanks for the upload uncle Night Shift! As always a pleasure watching at your builds. Stay safe!
Omg, your videos about tiger building make me want to build tiger too much
That's the point 😄
@@NightShiftScaleModels good try my master, but i can't cheat on to preorder on new Zvezda's 1:48 MI-24B😄
Wow Stunning work and Details. Seriously impressive.
All I can say is "I Need new Glasses, Older = Half Blind..!"
I do use a Magnifying headset which helps but your Eye for Detail is Stunning.
But Got some good tips from this Video So, Thank you. Truely..!!
Kim in Oz 😎
I'm enjoying your tutorials on tanks. The kitty is looking good. Thanks for sharing.
I'm using your road wheel trick from now on!!!
Your kitty is beautiful! And the video was one of the funniests so far! Classpsss!
Somebody says "clasps". Nightshift starts giggling. Great build!
Just found this channel. Unreal. Your work and level of detail is absolutely inspiring.
As an aircraft modeler, I'm glad I don't have to clean up a few dozen of the same piece. But damn do those tracks look real and those clasps make it pop. Good work.
"Here kitty, kitty." GREAT JOB on this Tiger.
MARTIN!!!! That kitty really purrs B-). Its a beautiful model, I love it!
University closing next week? Awesome. Night Shift uploads on the same day? Even better. Dude, your videos are awesome and you've inspired me to keep upping my ante in modelling. Too bad I don't have enough materials to begin painting my models right now,,,, damn
At least you can build them! :)
Awesome! Can't wait to see this kitty painted and weathered!!
Jesus Christ, I want to see it painted! Stunning job Martin!
nice to see that some of the tiger's armoured parts/plates are absent like the ones for the tracks
Nice and inspiring work on that zimmerit. Looking forward to your next post. Cheers.
+..you don't have to be intimated in making these parts... but, it just takes forever... :) Fantastic work on the smallest of details! Well done.
Oh yeah, Uncle NightShift. That looks so badass. Well done!
Solo 5 palabras....es pec ta cu lar!!!!!.... excelente trabajo....muy bueno!!!!!!!!
It is extreme modelling, like extreme sports. I can only sit and watch. All the best for You! ;)
I love your minute attention to the details and this sweet kitty is coming along great!
Beautiful work! I was a HARD core builder many decades ago, and got to be pretty good. Nothing close to your skills. Really enjoyed your video ( obviously ).
Love how this kitty is looking. Can’t wait for the next video
I made my first "Kitty's" circa 1991. Tiger's I and II, followed by a Panther. All Tamiya. My favourite German builds from back then is still the 88mm anti tank Gun being towed by an 8 ton half track.
So now because of you I should order a Tiger for myself. That's really inspiring !
9:42 i feel your pain with the plastic rye fields track. i did two lengths of it (for a tiger) 92 links per side, 5 parts per link. it was hell. if anyone from rye fields reads this, THE GUIDE HORNS DO NOT NEED TO BE SEPARATE PIECES. they are practically invisible. if its detail they are looking for, they should partner with fruim model and have metal track. this would be SO much easier as you wouldn't have the problem of the pins that connect each part snapping.... i gave up with every tiger, panther, Sherman ect from rye fields and get fruim model track. so much easier and they sag realistically. sorry for the rant but i wanted to make this point. also if you write a long comment people will be more likely to read it apparently.
on corona virus lockdown with essays due and i'm busy watching this amazing video!
thats fo the upload
