This is a comparison between two of my favorite watches in my collection. I love the BB58. It's probably my favorite watch in my collection. However, the my recent acquisition of the Sinn U50 has me thinking otherwise. These are two great and very different dive watches for sure.

I would wear a Sinn to board meeting just to say I could. In time people would understand what it is to own and wear a Sinn. It is the shear dedication to a task. As in life don’t try to be good at many things….being really good in one is enough to be admired. Thanks you for your comparison of these two contrasting watches.
Dear Mr. Legs, Another fine compare and contrast. I am a committed desk diver, my first dive watch was a Ploprof 1200M and I currently own both Grand Seiko and Seiko dive watches. In the end, I would choose the Sinn because of its purpose build and engineering. Wilfrid Schmidt, the horological engineer owner of Sinn for 25+ years, is one of the great personages of the modern watch industry even though Sinn is much smaller than many other watch companies. An alumnus of IWC who worked under great Gunter Blumlein, Mr. Schmidt was instrumental on a hands on basis as the technical director in the resurrection of A. Lange which was revived as an IWC business investment in support of Walter Lange. When Mr. Schmidt bought Sinn, the company had 12 employees and was little known. Although Sinn is not a major watch company, it is now much larger than when Mr. Schmidt first acquired it and Sinn is internationally consequential beyond its size and sales numbers. When one thinks of the quintessential German watch brand with both great engineering, high build quality and a great value proposition, Sinn comes to the fore. I would also submit that references like the U1 reflect a command of German contemporary design that is the equal of both Porsche Design and Nomos, even though Sinn does not position itself as a design oriented watch company. Tudors with their now in-house movements have many virtues but the range of purpose built Sinn watches and technology (tegimented steel and dehumidifying capsules) is awe inspiring, Many watch brands purport to make explorer type watches designed for extreme conditions but Sinn really does. Their catalogue includes references for extreme climactic conditions and serious diving depths including the EZM pieces for use by first responders and military personnel. No drugstore cowboys or explorers need apply. Mr. Schmidt is certainly knowledgeable enough to go the in-house movement route but he has refrained from this so as to focus on creating some of the best value propositions in horology.
The more I see the BB58, the more I realize I made the right decision! The Sinn is perfect. I will never understand the hype behind the BB58.
The Tudor has been my daily wear for the last few years, just ordered the Sinn. The U1 was too big for my little wrist, the U50 will be perfect. I love the look of both watches. I don't know how it's not love at first site for either watch. The Sinn is the better value.

I think the BB58 wins hands down on a versus in my book purely for its versatile really.

U50 vs. Pelagos would be a more apt comparison IMO. The BB58 is more of a sports/dive hybrid whereas the Pelagos and U50 I would consider more pure tool watches

I think even when compared to the Pelagos, the Sinn has a good amount going for it, particularly the virtually unscratchable TEGIMENT steel technology vs. the more malleable titanium on the Pelagos. Also, Pelagos is considerably bulkier with a L2L of 52mm vs. the L2L of 47mm on the U50. Admittedly though, the Tudor watches have the classic styling and in-house movements.

I have the BB41 and you know how I love Sinn. I just think I’m tapped out on dive watches at the moment. Either of these would be great additions to any collection ✔️ another great video Rob! 👏👊

Very different aesthetically, and the BB58 is more versatile, but I’d go with the Sinn all day.

I’ve recently acquired my first Sinn. I am so impressed with the quality. They really are the best sleeper brand around.
Have the Sinn U50 full tegiment on bracelet and the BB58 black on bracelet. Both stunners for different reasons. The U50 is about 10% heavier than the BB58 sized same.
As much as I love all things Sinn, the BB58 is so beautiful and pure perfection on wrist. I did not understand it until I tried your on- it clicked instantly.

Great comparison Bobby. U50T to me will look like new for many years. Like the BB 58 blue but will show its wear so much more should have a ceramic bezel insert. All the best stay healthy and safe.

How about size wise and how the look on wrist? Does the BB58 look and wear smaller? Is it a bit too small or just the right size?
Also, I agree on the lame clasp that Sinn bracelets have… it’s a shame because the rest of the watch feels so excellently executed.
The clasp on the rubber strap seems better built, if it just had a tool-less micro adjust it would be a massive improvement.

I want neither. Actually I want a BB58 when they get around to putting the T-link adjustment thingy in it
I wasn’t interested in the Tudor, it was just another overhyped watch, until I got it on wrist. Now it’s on my short list. The Sinn left me cold. It’s growing on me. I’m not sure I’m there yet.
Great comparison - thank you! I have the Sinn U50 arriving tomorrow on bracelet with full tegiment - I'm very excited. I already have the original Black Bay Noir (79220N) which is almost as thin as the BB58 (BB58 = 11.9mm thick, ETA BBN = 12.8mm), and way thinner than the in-house BB41 (14.9mm). A little bit cheeky now, especially because I have never tried the 58 on, but I think I have an even better combo than yours - what do you think?

For me the U50 is the winner. U50 is far more unique and rare.

The 58 is my daily unless I'm doing something dangerous, like shopping in the ALDI narrow middle isles on Deals Day. 😁 That's when you need something like a U50 or a Damasko, although I would also recommend the Baby Dreadnought from TimeFactors. The 58 is what the old 40mm subs used to be.
If you ever get your mitts on a Pelagos I'd like to see a versus with the U50.
The Pelagos and the U50 were at the end of my short list. I chose the U50 S- the all black fully tegimented one. I decided against the Pelagos for a few reasons:
1. The thickness. I love comfort . I don’t want to suffer for my watch. I was concerned it was just too thick. On the other hand the U50 is ridiculously thin which is so comfortable.
2. I bumped into a couple stories online of Pelagos bezels popping off when bumped and some not turning after being in the water. It seems like the tolerance was so tight that sand etc locked it up. That bugged me.
3. My last daily wearer was a Sea- Dweller. I now like having a watch that that looks like a basic inexpensive watch. Nobody except for watch people know what it is. I will likely never bump into another one and if I do we will definitely talk- I like that.
I also bought the U50 on the rubber strap because they need to step up the clasp. I think Sinn will eventually do that and then I will buy the bracelet. I purchased the compact clasp. I don’t know if everyone knows that is an option. I would suggest it. The watch is thin and not huge, I think the compact clasp creates a more fitting balance to the watch vs the standard foldover clasp. I think I have only seen one other guy online choose that clasp. I think it is the way to go. Actually they sent me the foldover by accident because everyone seems to get that, so I had the option to just go with that. I called and had them swap it out and am glad I did.
The watch has ran with great accuracy. I am very happy.

For me the sinn is a better watch re toolness , ruggededness, water resistance and i prefer it as they arent as common, but tudor is more versatile and can be worn in more occasions. If you only had one "good" watch and you have to wear more formal clothes get the tudor ( although i didnt ). I own a sinn 756 and tudor pelagos LHD so no stranger to either brand .
I just noticed that it seems like the bezel on the BB58 is misaligned. Does that bother you?
perhaps its the angle but the bezel on my BB58 is not misaligned. I've looked at it a thousand times.
Well, no diver ever really need anything more than 200m wr, considering 100m is already on the deep end of technical diving for 99.99999% of the divers on earth, and nobody diving these days really use a dive watch as a tool. Still I love the u50 for what it is.
Love both and want both ..but there can only be one ..the tudor looks smarter ,the u50 has more technical stuff ..and made from a sub wow

Honestly, I don't think this is a very fair comparison to begin with. They're both divers, that's about where the similarities end.
@@Angry_Gnome I just realized how ridiculous my comment is, last Saturday I bought a Black Bay and not a Sinn. It was a Black Bay 36 with the silver dial, but I'd argue that has even less value for money than this Black Bay. I gotta eat those words, yum. Honestly though, I bought it because I like the way it looks and to build some history with my AD, so there was a good reason but.... yeah gotta eat those words.

Are you HIGH ????? I love the U50 a lot but 70 hour power reserve at 11.7 thickness for the 58 are you going to mention that ? Find another watch on the market with that high power reserve with that incredible thickness and the fact it’s an in house movement…. You cant

Why does every microbrands under $1000 have an awesome lumed bezel and every "luxury dive watch" just gets a stupid lume pip at one place on the bezel??? WTF???
Because a fully lumed bezel is just a gimmick and tend to be confusing for it’s intended use on a diver, where you must be able to quickly determine the bezel position relative to the minutes hand.
@@giusepperocchi2979 you need to get your eyes checked... I have no issues reading a lumed bezel at night, and I have shitty eyesight and wear glasses... And if you're diving at night or in the dark, you have a flashlight anyway...

How many professional ISO certified diver watches with full lumed bezel do you know ? Underwater you need to check the pip at a glance, a fully lumed circle of numbers and indices is just distracting.
@@giusepperocchi2979 whatever floats your boat, I don't think too many people are buying expensive dive watches for diving anymore though...
A single liked pip on the bezel is much, much nicer than one that is lumed I'm multiple places. So unnecessary and so unclassy!
