    I came down to this almost exact comparison, except the regular Pelagos, not the LHD. I went Sinn U50S for the comfort in big part. 500M and 11mm thick! Thickness matters a lot in regard to comfort for me. I love the Sinn, I bought the full tegimented S version- 1 year ago almost to the day. The watch looks like it just came out of the box after near daily wear. The tegimenting is amazing. Last month I bought the Tudor BB 58 Blue. Very comfy as well, but I would say the Sinn is even more comfortable,- if I had to pick. There is something to their steel that doesn't stick to you, that is the best way to describe it.
    I think it comes a lot down to design as well. The Pelagos is another pretty standard looking diver, just like my BB, but the Sinn is very unique. It doesn't look like anything else. I will say if you are at all about ego in your watches and want recognition (many people do) Sinn is not for you. My all black version looks like a $50 toy and I love that about it. The watch is for me not anyone else. One last think my 3 week old Tudor has far more signs of wear than my 1 year old Sinn. I guess that is because the Sinn has no signs wear, literally nothing.

    • @TOKKANTE
      @TOKKANTE  2 года назад

      Wow this is helpful to me as well, because I love the look of the U50 S but do not want it on rubber. So that means I would need to consider the bracelet with black coating, which really gave me pause because of what I had read online. I'm not too worried about the case getting scratched, but I was really worried about the black bracelet showing signs of wear, as everyone is telling me to avoid the black coating on bracelet. But you're saying that yours has no signs of wear. I've also read Sinn has improved the black coating over the years so old forum posts may not be relevant but I can't find any FACTS. I don't care about the brand recognition, but I'm very analytical so I always want FACTS when I consider something and I get into analysis paralysis.... I did ask about pricing on the U50 S to the AD and he gave me 20% off on it (it's the most expensive also and had to order it). Food for thought thank you!

    I've been a Rolex wearer for 40 years & the problem for me is no matter if it's one of my divers or GMT's I see the same indices & oyster bracelets. I've been looking at alternatives just to mix it up a bit. I really want to like Sinn & as I do like their EZM 13.1 their bracelets leave me a bit cold. At the same time Tudor has such a hard core following that I'm trying to like them but I don't feel many of them live up to the hype. However the Pelagos is an entirely different animal. I truly believe in the long run, many years down the road I think you'll realize how much you've come to love it. As a side note I bought my 1982 16800 Submariner, I wore it all through my time in the Army, went through every advanced school, combat dive school & Arctic training ( -60 degrees ) many combat engagements & even saved my life in a training accident. I still wear it quite often, cost of ownership, 3 services & just 3 months ago the only part ever replaced was the main spring at a cost of 75.00. The Pelagos is even tougher then my Sub & it has true pedigree with a superb in house movement. In the end only you can tell what pulls at your heart strings. Whatever you decide I wish you all the best in your new career & wear your new watch in good health my friend.

      Wow good to hear from someone who actually wore his Sub for what it was meant to do + more! Not a safe queen! The 16800 also has nice upgrades over the 5513 while still retaining those classic vintage proportions. I hear you on Sinn bracelet/clasp, same here. People say once you get a Sinn, you understand (and then get more). I just need to give one of these brands a chance I guess!

    Hi Ben, congratulations on the new job! As for your conundrum, allow me to chip in:
    1. I wouldn't worry about the Peter Blake. It's a sturdy design, and even with a full Omega service, represents great value for money
    2. I used to own a Tudor Pelagos (ETA version) and I truly loved this watch for a couple of years. Best lume on any watch I have ever owned, and really clever clasp. I eventually let it go as it was wearing too big and thick on my 7 inch wrist. If anything at all, the in-house version wears even a bit taller, so I'm not sure it's going to wear so well on your 6.75 inch wrist. You really need to try it on. Also, note that there are a few stories of luminous inserts on the bezel coming loose and falling off. Something to keep in mind if you're really using it for sports
    3. A fully tegimented U50 is a tougher watch than the Tudor, and there's less likelihood to bang it as it wears much more compact. Where it really comes alive, though, is on the rubber bracelet, which is incredibly comfortable. I almost forget that I wear it in this configuration. Plus, the clasp on the rubber bracelet is much better than the one on the metal one, though a bit thick
    The Tudor is great on paper, but having owned both, and using them heavily for sports, the U50 is the clear winner on the wrist as far as I am concerned.
    PS: agree with some of the comments below. Both have the same depth rating, but Sinn achieves this without the help of a helium escape valve, making it a superior design

    • @TOKKANTE
      @TOKKANTE  2 года назад

      Not sure why your comment was "held for review - likely spam" and just saw it. It's probably because you're trying to change my mind lol!
      Yes, I am worried about the wearability of the LHD to be honest and your comment as an owner of both is very helpful. One thing I love about my IWC Spitfire is that it's so easy to wear, so thin (10.6mm) and I forget I have it on. I think the Sinn would get close to that but not the LHD for sure. I tried the LHD, the wrist pics on the video are mines and it seemed fine in the boutique, but yeah long term, maybe not... The problem is I want all of them haha! I think deep down, even though on paper it seems not to quite match the LHD in terms of specs, I would probably wear it more, hmmm..... Now someone told me to seriously consider the Pelagos FXD instead and I'm currently researching it. Need to try it on. I had eliminated it solely based on the lack of bracelet, but if I accept the military connection and the reason why it has no bracelet, and can live with it, it may actually be very comfortable (thinner, lighter) and very easy to live with as a tool watch. MUST. TRY. FXD!

    • @johnnyguitar6697
      @johnnyguitar6697 2 года назад +1

      @@TOKKANTE I quite like the FXD, but I am yet to try it. It would be cool to have it next to its forefather, the M.N. issued 94010 that I own. The one area of concern, though, is that the only option to wear it is a fabric strap, which will automatically make it sit 1 to 1.5mm higher on the wrist. Now, what I am thinking is that to really celebrate the new job, you need a GO SeaQ. Nowhere near as tough a the Sinn or the Tudor, but a very apt sportswatch nonetheless. I've been living in exile for the past 5 months with only 2 watches, the SeaQ and the Speedmaster, and have had no issue working out or playing tennis with the SeaQ.

    • @TOKKANTE
      @TOKKANTE  2 года назад

      @@johnnyguitar6697 true about the FXD, I find it really interesting after researching it since doing that video. Lucky you have an original! I want to see it also and am also concerned about the overall height even if i could live with the strap. The issue is WHEN I would even be able to try one?!! The SeaQ is not forgotten but that would really be overkill now I feel to go around the neighborhood to my local supermarket haha.

    • @johnnyguitar6697
      @johnnyguitar6697 2 года назад

      @@TOKKANTE The SeaQ is so unobtrusive and discrete worn on a tropic rubber strap that no one in your neighborhood or supermarket would ever notice you wear a luxury watch. I have had the standard black pelagos as a daily work watch for over a year, it certainly has presence due to its thickness but its titanium is light and durable.
    The clasp is excellent and the lime is always impressive.
    It’s has picked up some marks but they add character, it has been used in an industrial environment and in extreme weather, considering it’s abuse it’s
    not skipped a beat and has a feeling of longevity.

      Wearing the Pelagos FXD for the last 2 months now, I agree that it's so light and comfortable, maybe almost too much? Cause I have also noticed 3 little scratches on the top lugs now that I have no idea how they got there... Since I don't really feel the watch, it may make it easier to bump it here and there cause I forget it's on.... Oh well, it's a tool watch!

    Great comparison video! I can't comment on the Sinn because I've not seen one. I have had the Pelagos LHD for about 4 years and I treat it like a tool watch. I've worn it diving and swimming, at the gym, etc. It takes every day abuse with no problems. Being grade 2 Ti, it does scratch easier than most but it's a tool watch so a few scratches don't bother me. Aesthetics are personal, but I do wish the Pelagos had less text on the dial. Other than that I love how it looks. Mine keeps excellent time (-1.5sec/day) and I've had issues with it at all.

    Hi Ben, excellent video as always... don't forget about the Tudor Black Bay Pro! My U50 gives excellent service and is incredibly tough. Happy hunting! 😊 I disagree about the helium escape valve... the Sinn has been properly designed and engineered and doesn't need one.

    • @TOKKANTE
      @TOKKANTE  2 года назад

      Yes I would like to see the Pro but am just afraid that it's gonna be one of those impossible to get watches for a long time and I'm not in this game of buying 3 or 4 other watches before getting the one I really want... Ideally, I would like to see the Pro and the FXD just to make sure.... but even the FXD is nowhere to be found in HK. Re: helium, yes you're right, there are some divers that don't even need them but isn't it more technically challenging to engineer a case with one? First time I need to disagree with you.
    1) the LHD wears topheavy
    2) a titanium on brscelet for 157grams. How can you give this advantage over a submarine steel tegimented case that weighs the same??
    3) how can you give preference to the He escape valve of the LHD when the better designed Sinn case that doesn’t need a He valve??
    I am really disappointed in thid comparison.

    • @TOKKANTE
      @TOKKANTE  2 года назад

      Good to disagree sometimes, maybe you can change my mind! Here's my reasoning:
      1/ It wears top heavy on the rubber strap but on the "always tight" bracelet it should wear much better, although you're right, the head is still 10 grams heavier.
      2/ The LHD is 157 grams with ALL links, i'm expecting it would be lighter than the U50 once sized for my wrist. I would like to know beforehand though how heavy. I found the exact weight for the U50 online from a WatchUSeek user who also had a 6.75" wrist and listed the weight at 151 grams.
      3/ I have read that it is more technically challenging to engineer a case with an integrated He valve because of the way the case needs to be constructed. I read on ABlogToWatch that manual HRV are basically useless but automatic ones make sense and are part of diving history (even though, of course, useless to me as well!). Yes the Sinn may not need it, but why and how so? Is it because they're just using better seals? Wouldn't Rolex for example just use better seals and get rid of the HRV then? I'm just genuinely wondering. To be on the safe side, a true time tested solution would be the automatic HRV that's why i gave the point to the LHD but it's all very theoretical since I wouldn't test it.

    Hi Ben, nice review and analysis as always. I've already got the SINN U50 (Fully Tegiment option) and as you say it ticks lots of boxes. I also love the Tudor, but am holding out for the PRO, but like want to try the watch on first and that is a challenge in itself as ADs do not have any. My vote would be the SINN: It's different, looks good on a variety of NATO straps, but the soft touch rubber strap is also fantastic, but a bit expensive.

    IF those two are the culmination of a tireless search for your new watch then it must be the Tudor for all the reasons you mentioned regardless of the thickness.
    I would counsel you however for neither one as from a purely technical prospective the Omega ( 232.30.38.20.01.001 )while more expensive than the Tudor is of higher quality due to the co-axial escapement.

    Thorough as ever, Ben! But beware 'analysis paralysis!' Both good watches. Objectively, by really all measures, the Tudor is the better watch, except, I'd say, for cost of service. But that's trivial, really. So, if you like it, get the Tudor. They may bring out a thinner one some day, but you might die waiting! Seize the day! But, I think they're both expensive for what they are. I know you'll have considered all options, but in case not, what about the SM300? Still around in titanium, or the new one in steel. Or the PO 39 Ceramic? But the elephant in the room (assuming you can deal with the thickness - and the Pelagos is very thick) is the OG, The Daddy, the MM300! Still 'Marinemaster' branded NOS available without the hateful 'X,' or the current sapphire one with it. This is a pro tool, no dress up play here! Still with Seiko (and avoiding the 'X') the SLA043 Glacier. No bracelet, but a better watch than the Tudor, a beauty, quite thin and a very good size. Or... GS Spring Drive diver... plenty discounts there and a fantastic watch. Good luck!

Based on Robert's comment, looks like another win for Tudor though! Thanks for your suggestions, I can't go into all of them here but will consider them of course. Analysis paralysis yeah.... I know, can't help it, my dad is the same with cameras!

    Get the LHD in blue Ben. Time for some titanium!!

    • @TOKKANTE

      The LHD is not available in blue though... do you mean just the regular blue Pelagos? I find that blue a bit too bright though... much prefer the blue color from the FXD but I don't think I could live with the FXD without a bracelet.

    I bought the Pelogos LHD titanium, so far it's been really great, compared to a rolex Sub, less flash more of a tool watch.

    kinda partial to the omega2254......if you get one of their later releases of that model it would be around 14 yrs. old. not vintage at all.

    • @TOKKANTE
      @TOKKANTE  2 года назад

      Yes, that's why with the 2254 it's about finding that specific model that's not too old but also not crazy expensive because then we start comparing again.... I'm sure it will be like finding my Longines Legend Diver: it will somehow happen out of the blue, finding one by chance and boom!

    Just looking at the two watches, anyone with a sense of aesthetics/proportions/design, whatever you wanna call it, would have to be mad to get the Sinn over the LHD. I mean it's night and day, ugly mess vs simple perfect masculine form.
