@@marrodriguez6173 While you're correct, this is the worst marking gauge I have ever seen. All you need to make a proper marking gauge is a piece of wood, a drill bit, and a nail. I do sort of like the idea that this one has a built in ruler. That being said, the fact that it's on a round body and doesn't scribe just makes it worthless.
Yeah you need a flat 90 degree or it's more chance of human failure but I would be able to use it my granpa could use a lot more simple objects and it still got straight the old guys have 90 degrees and straight lines etc built in their muscle memory

@@tom5256 you're thinking backwards. "Combination squares" are basically a ruler with an adjustable stop used to repeatedly measure and mark the same length or angles. They don't have notches for a pencil or marking tool. "Speed squares" are right angled triangles with pitch angle marks, measurements, and pre-cut notches to do the exact job shown in the video. Most commonly used by carpenters for cutting angles for roof trusses and length measurements for ripping boards length wise. Or two pieces of wood screwed together clamping the ruler so there’s an actual trustworthy 90deg angle. Or…. an actual purpose built tool that’ll last forever and do a great job. Honestly, this technique would take longer than simply marking points along the edge and setting the ruler to join the dots.
I can dig this. I wouldnt toss my self made metal work, but if i just needed a strsight line, i could put this together and make it work. Probsbly do it. It would give me big food for thought concerning durability in general. Thsnk uou@

Удачи в канале, но этот способ не рекомендуйте. Спилив начало линейки вы уже теряете точность. Можно конечно точно сделать пропил на 1мм и потом уже добавлять 1мм ко всем размерам, но это нужно показать и объяснить в видео. Может это и будет контентом для вас... показал это видео, а потом показал как улучшить эту самоделку
А что мешает, уважаемый автор, вам взять и воспользоваться руками вместо зажимов из крышек? Всё равно же ведь держите её чтобы не открутилась об край. 😂
Für grobe Messungen wo es nicht auf 1 -2 mm nicht deauf ankommt . Dafür ist das ist das eine super idee ein einfaches praktisches Upcycling Werkzeug zu basteln . Kreativ und Geniale Idee den Deckel und die Verschraubung als Klemmechanismus zu nutzen .
I just use a tape measure for framing, siding, rough fitments for any project, just pinch your hand at the length you want and and use the bottom finger of your pinch to guide along the edge of your material, then rest your pencil on the dummy end of the tape and slide along your material, you're welcome 😊
But what if you forget your carpenters square or left it on a job this is a good idea little things like this can help get a job sometimes you have to adapt

Available at any good hardware/DIY store.
Precise, accurate and they don't have a tendency to roll...

Or a proper woodworking gauge , designed especially for drawing parallel lines
