Yes, the F91 is probably the biggest seller of any other brands of watches on the market. It's cheap and reliable and if it should ever go wrong or is damaged you can just purchase another one without having to break your bank account on any luxury watch like a Rolex etc. The only trouble with Casio watches they can be addictive. I know that from experience as I have several of them in my collection both digital and analogue along with two G-Shock 5610's for when I need a tough and reliable watch when on military duties.
If an Emmy existed for RUclips I believe this video would earn one. Fantastic video. Our mistakes are typically our best stories, and yours are so enjoyable.
Thanks for your videos. Your use of funny metaphors and lack of tedious horological techno speak make your videos easily the best on the subject. I think I can give a run for your money in regrettable watch decisions. Keep it up! BTW, I tried to give more but it won’t let me. I’m sure it’s due to my middle aged inability to use technology. I’ll ask my help desk (aka my kids).
Biggest regrets are selling, pre-pandemic, a 2006 Rolex Submariner and an Omega Aqua Terra solid 18K yellow gold, each for around 5K USD. I have since then bought the Sub at twice the price but not the Omega which has tripled. Excellent video!!
I can absolutely understand your fascination with Yachtmaster (YM). Among Rolex that's the only one I kept in my collection and I wear it everyday, everywhere...from gym to the shower! YM is definitely the most underrated watch in the Rolex catalogue.
I bought my first proper watch for my 30th birthday in 2000 - a full rose gold 1964 Omega Constellation. Wonderful condition. Cost me £650. Simply beautiful. But….. I was hooked and needed to buy more watches and couldn’t afford it - and the constellation had gone up in value. You know what came next. Still makes me want to cry.
My biggest regret: Ten years ago, I attended an intimate dinner party with Bruno Meier, the recently retired CEO of Rolex. In an incredible act of generosity, he offered me the opportunity to buy a Rolex. At the time, I was a horological Philistine. Thus being so I said, "No, thank you".
But you have a story which is somehow better. We try to tie these silly metal time pieces to a story, because the story IS the point. If you stole a fork from the event it’d be worth more than any watch. (The story part, not the watch itself). I’m selling my Daytona as part of a down payment for a house and to be honest I don’t care about it at all. Also sell a Grand Seiko for the same reason. The rest of my collection is under $500 for the most part and I only have one watch I truly care about and it’s worth at best $300 new. I like your story more than I like my Daytona, (although I am wearing it for the next few days before I send it in for service, cleaning and authentication for its new owner).
Gotta agree, the last was the worst. I admire Andrew's courage in admitting this one especially. Even if I don't particularly like that watch (for some reason, anything raised on a bevel gives me the heebie jeebies).
you can’t sell the watch you got married with and honeymooned, unless you get divorce first. Now, giving it’s Rolex and if the current owner still got papers, this might be traceable and fixable. Just saying.
I like those totally dreadful slabs of steel, like the british counterpart, the Graham... in some non healthy way, I must admit. In fact if I could get my hands on the red, cheap, quartzy Darkmoon, maybe I'd pull the trigger... but it has to be reeeeally cheap.
I have never sold a watch... I am lucky enough to love watches that are at the more affordable end of the market and, therefore, am not tempted to. I will never ever sell my Tudor pelagos lhd, which is number 367, which is from your former place of work... you probably have had it in your hot, sweaty mits. I am very fortunate. Tudor, Seiko, and Longines for me. Great video, thanks.
Sir, I enjoy your self-deprecation, and your writings inspire me to write better but will never approach your humour and well placed metaphors. Ball bearings in the casket...damn! That is good. I'm going have to steal that and use it shamelessly. My regret: I didn't get my Tag Heuer Monaco sooner so that I can enjoy it earlier. I too, am an engineer and I work in industrial sites, which means there is no way in hell that I will wear my precious timepiece from Mondays to Fridays. And that means I can only slap on my Tag on Friday evenings and gaze at it lovingly over weekends.
Andrew, you are well known and accepted as one of the leading watch enthusiasts now owning your own channel. And it made me feel better, because when "Mr. Talking Hands" himself made those mistakes, how could I, who knows nothing about watches, do better? 🙂
The U Boat! I have my own personal experience of an Egyptian U Boat copy, claimed by the seller to be ‘almost waterproof’ taken by yours truly into the pool. That night I took it back claiming it was steamed up! The seller said to me ‘I told you not to take it into the water’ my reply was I only took it into the shower. Anyway he took the case back off and approximately an egg cup of water poured out…..enough said!
I find your experience very telling of the strenght we can find when it's needed, and the amazing resilience of human beings when they keep being true to themselves, whatever comes their ways. I greatly respect that. Thank you for your amazing work. That was a very humorous watch too! Glad to have found your channel. Greetings from Belgium.
Picked up a MAMACOO's watch as my first watch last month and I’m absolutely in love with it. Perfect size, looks elegant, very comfortable. Now my only problem is holding off from buying more watches so quickly!
got my 39mm with the white dial on the 3-link "Bader" bracelet watch on MaMaCoo 3 weeks ago and am loving it to pieces. Absolute fantastic watch that wears super comfortable on my 6.75 inch wrist. Chose the 3-link over the 5-link bracelet for the toolless quick adjustment. Way more comfortable than my Longines Hydroconquest 41 mm.
I absolutely adore your style of talking in your videos - they're funny, engaging and informative...a very difficult trio to master! Thank you. 🙂 PS-my own personal watch regret? Buying a Tom Ford watch....*shudders in embarrassment*
I am a little late watching this, frankly I loved it and can completely relate. Very good of you to put yourself out there for everyone to see. You should ABSOLUTELY buy that Daytona. And selling your wedding watch is a tough loss. I hope you find it one day and get to wear it again
Your are absolutely right about the lug to lug length in the legend diver but that is one of its charms. I have a 6.5 inch wrist and I still love mine.
Most of us can only dream of owning an FP Journe. For me, it’s the one that got away that I always regret (I’ve never sold a watch, in part for that reason - I fear I’ll regret it!) Almost pulled the trigger on a pre-owned VC Overseas about 8 years ago, when they were selling for about 1/4 of what they sell for today. I hesitated over price, and it sold. Oh I wish I’d bought it: there’s no way I’d spend that much on a watch today!
I am pretty much sure if you would have asked her to sell the wedding ring hopefully a diamond for the sake of this “comparison” then she would have divorce you or have a big fight calling you a cheap loser…, in my opinion… Just saying! See the trade here?!!!
@@marconi306 Your comment has really annoyed me so heres a wall of text in response: 1. You seem to have relationship issues? Perhaps low self esteem, projecting terms like "cheap loser" on others? You should work on that 2. She told me not to sell my watch and got mad at me when I did 3. I sold it anyways because I dont like the direction the brand has taken, I made a profit as Rolex was super hyped and overpriced at that time, and I have about 10000 identical ones to choose from on C24 if I wanted (which I do not) 4. She would sell her diamond in a second if we needed for the family
Which ref? I can't imagine it being more than a drop in the bucket, and if it was something like a Daytona I can't imagine one needing the money to get a house.
Yes, I have bought from amzwatch more than once. I even bought a new Omega Speedmaster which came with the fancy box and packaging. I am thrilled with all my purchases here. I would purchase from amzwatch again for sure.
Not quite " I sold my wedding watch" but I did sell a Tag Heuer Aquaracer that my wife bought me as my first luxury watch. I got caught up in trying to purchase a speedy that I thoughtlessly sold the Tag. My wife took it well but I still feel horrible about it.
the rubber covers of the chrono pushers eventually tear and replacing them to keep it waterproof is very expensive I wanted one too at the time, the lemania style central minute chrono hand was always something I just had to have so I almost pulled the trigger but I'm glad I never bought it. I have an EZM1.1 instead and I'm much happier with it than I would have been with the aquaracer
nkuwan You are so well-informed about luxury watches. You've obviously done your due diligence and the comparison to the US is very informative...because of course, I live in New York. thank you very much
I could listen to you all day, Andrew. You’re the David Attenborough of the watch world. I owned a 4 liner Rolex 14060 and because I wanted a cyclops I pxed it for a 116610. My local AD gave my £2000 against a £5900 sub date. I hated the cyclops! I wish I had kept the 14060 - or the 116610 for that matter!
Oh man I look at the 4 liner 14060m as a modern 5512 Submariner. I still own my 14060m from 03 and still keeps time like it did brand new. The 3130 is a indestructible movement. It's a watch I will never sell and it's SOO COMFORTABLE on the wrist
The IWC story is exactly like that Father Ted episode where he puts a slight ding in the raffle car, then spends the entire day panel beating it to beyond recognition
My biggest regret was letting go of my submariner; I wore it for everything. Nothing had ever come close with regards to the 'connection' that I had with that watch. I'm hoping to but an Explorer soon... and that will have adventures and memories of its own
The Longines legend diver is one of my favorite watches in my collection. It's the newer design though, blue and black face. Gorgeous and comfortable and keeps great time.
I usually find your videos too long but I stayed for that one😊. I can feel exactly what you experienced...nostalgia is a terrible thing and at the same time a sweet feeling...In fact it's all money's fault: would there be no evolution in prices we would only buy watches for pleasure and would have no particular regrets...I also wish I had pulled the trigger on 2 or 3 Rolex or JLC in the late 90's, but internet was not there to influence our behaviours (hope my english makes sense)
Thank you! I've just bought a Bell-Matic in really good condition and I was starting to think that the mechanism was faulty because I couldn't get the crown to change the day/date
Just bought a Daytona 2015 steel black face. Put a black rubber strap on it and it absolutely pops so I've got two looks in one which makes the cost more bearable. What I didn't consider at the time of purchase was the servicing costs add another £700ish on top and a 3 month wait, but at least it's only every 10yrs or so. The price may come down this year but I have no regrets, it is a stunning watch and will always remain that way. Go for it
We do have a few things in common! I am an engineer too (electronics), watch enthusiast, photographer, and an author on photography! All the best to you. Love your humor.
Andrew, I feel you pain so I have taken to splitting my buying into two categories. The first is watches I like and will wear. The second is watches I am buying because they may prove to be a good flip or investment (like your Journe example). I wear the first batch and will never sell them so I don’t regret. The second group I do not wear ever so I don’t make memories with them and thus they are easy to move on from emotionally when it is time to sell. This formula seems to be working for me. The only hard part is not wearing the “flip” watches, but that is easier than regret!
@ 10:30 idk if anyone is familiar with the anime FLCL but in the sort 6 episode series it about " Swinging the Bat" and " you never know whats gonna happen until you swing the bat". Basically about having the audacity to take the risk and seeing what the out come will be. You never know what will happen next until you decide to swing the bat. you gotta swing the bat. Also my greatest regret is selling my Tudor 75090 36mm Submariner. Bought it for a celebration and sold it for almost half what i paid for to pay bills during covid. that sucked. still sucks. was going to buy another one or another vintage tudor but found a BB58 925 for $2.5k and just bought that this week. super happy
My biggest regret is not owning a vintage Milgauss. I worked in a data center for nearly 3 decades and own the z blue and white dial iterations luckily. I have no way to wrist an older reference financially AND in person, as online retail is an iffy proposition at best.
Andrew. I know I don't know you and you don't know me, and I'm not 100% sure if you've mentioned having tried therapy before, but after having heard that IWC Ingenieur story, I feel compelled to encourage you to try it again.
I bought a Seiko SKX009 from a friend for $400 just when they were discontinued. Eventually I wore that watch for a good year until I sold it for a profit. Slowly I started regretting selling that watch until the end of the year I was offered one for sale for much less than I sold AND bought it for. The exact same watch. Bought it back and it’s returned to my collection.
haha great video. bought my first automatic a few months ago. new tissot prx. greatly buillt but found out it’s a fancy swatch that can’t be serviced and sold it at a loss. bought a second hand seiko with 7s26 movement. absolutely love it. dream watch is a rolex ref 126200
I so very much agree with you on Roger Dubuis, and I really hope they come back to their roots. The La Monégasque is a grail watch for sure, although size (too big) and water resistance (too low) are not in my favor.
We share the same regret: FP Journe chrono Bleu. At a store in Aspen, CO I could have bought it in 2015 for 18k. I had the money, but didn’t pull the trigger. Ugh.
So... I'm not a watch guy but in a matter of a week you've turned me into a subscriber and I have on the way to me the very first "nice" watch I've ever bought for myself at the ripe age of 57. You have an amazing talent for getting across to a non watch collecting person why owning a nice watch is a good idea. You get across why nice watches are cool. Do me a favor and don't ever review cars, okay? I only have so much money. :)
I love this episode! I have made plenty of mistakes and considered making many of yours! 😅 I currently have four beautiful disappointments I'm looking to offload. And I have given many away.
@@spittinvenom9843 No, it doesn't. It was made to test the new area in the market rather than to be "an ultimate Sub" (otherwise Rolex would discontinue the Sub line and name, as they usually do). The almost-monochromatic 16622 has something different about it, wears great, fits anything, and you really need to see it in person. The pictures do not do it justice. It's a great watch but the least fotogenic of all Rolexes.
I was lucky to walk into a journe boutique in Tokyo and ask if they had the Chrono Bleu, and they had. I picked it up on a whim, advised by a friend who played dota with me. Almost 11 years later, I feel really lucky to have been able to pick one up before it went all crazy.
My biggest regret was an impulse buy of a full-on 18K rose gold Breguet Aero Navale (with the full 18Kt gold band) instead of a Rolex Metorite Daytona way back in 2004. A few years later I sold the Breguet for the same $20K I paid for it & bought a white dialed SS Daytona for $9K which I still own. But the thought of passing on that meteorite Daytona (at the time $16K) haunts me to this day.
In 2008 when i knew absolutely nothing about watches, I bought a K18 two-tone Seamaster Aqua terra for not much more than a song. I travelled the world with it, banging it on every surface I came within 10 yards of. I got tired of the scratches on the bracelet and so turned it inside out using a hammer to work the spring bars (how very Clarkson of me). If I only knew how much they’d go for today, I would have never let it see the light of day.
I lost my Submariner in the Adriatic sea in the summer of 2021 ... I jumped off the second storey of the boat I was on and it flew off. That was sad. I have no plans to replace it, I am still trying to figure out what to get. Perhaps I am also as timid as a hedgehog on an airship.
I bought a Tudor Black Bay 41mm a few years ago. Very uncomfortable and top heavy. This was before the latest on the fly clasp adjustment and it was always either too tight or too loose. The so called chronometer time keeping wasn't great and after two and a half years and out of warranty it stopped working. Sold it for a heavy loss and vowed never to touch Tudor again.
The watch I regret buying the most is the F-91w.
It has been a gateway drug for me and now I can’t stop.
I regret buying an F-91w because it's so perfectly practical I have to make myself wear any of my other watches
😂
I regret buying so many cheap watches instead of buying one really good one. You speak very well.
I regret buying expensive watches when the cheap ones last as long and if not can go in the bin. 😊

Oh man I look at the 4 liner 14060m as a modern 5512 Submariner. I still own my 14060m from 03 and still keeps time like it did brand new. The 3130 is a indestructible movement. It's a watch I will never sell and it's SOO COMFORTABLE on the wrist
@@lonewolfemcquade8133 I absolutely agree. One of my favourite watches of all time and, as usual, I didn’t realise what I had until it was gone!
I saw what you did there with the "Young, dumb and ..." ;)
"...full of com (pletely)" Yeah, he did drag out that first syllable just the tiniest bit.
That was hilarious. Best line in the whole video.
I sold my 16622 as well. Also wore it on my wedding and much after. Still miss it.
We all have watch regrets. It’s inevitable. You fueled my interest with watch finder and I’m grateful for the journey. Ty
Some great stories there , thanks for sharing those although pretty painful
18:20 what? I didn't expect that to be also your favorite, damn 126655
And I basically only remember 3 Rolex references
I sold my Tudor Blackbay Heritage 41, I really liked that watch. Will have to buy it back one day.
Was it the burgundy bezel?
I usually find your videos too long but I stayed for that one😊. I can feel exactly what you experienced...nostalgia is a terrible thing and at the same time a sweet feeling...In fact it's all money's fault: would there be no evolution in prices we would only buy watches for pleasure and would have no particular regrets...I also wish I had pulled the trigger on 2 or 3 Rolex or JLC in the late 90's, but internet was not there to influence our behaviours (hope my english makes sense)
Gotta love this guy the best on the tube regards from Australia 🇦🇺
"Rather then the watch growing on me it were the lugs that did the growing" you sir are a gem with brilliant wording.
"Regrets, I've had a few but then again, too few to mention".
A perfect line from Dame Shirley Bassey…we all do mistakes….but to few to mention…
Sorry for getting off the subject, but I can't wait for you to review the Twelve X
Go for it
The Yachtmaster 40mm white dial (2-tone) is my favorite Rolex
Andrew you are a very funny man, this was brilliant.🤣
Keep up the good work.
We do have a few things in common! I am an engineer too (electronics), watch enthusiast, photographer, and an author on photography! All the best to you. Love your humor.
I wear a Tudor Black Bay 58. Wife wears a Rolex Yacht Master. Incredible timepieces
I laughed out loud at the allegory on intuition… I’m out of synch with the universe LOL 😂
The yachtmaster story broke my heart :( you'll get that watch back!!
Bought it for a celebration and sold it for almost half what i paid for to pay bills during covid. that sucked. still sucks. was going to buy another one or another vintage tudor but found a BB58 925 for $2.5k and just bought that this week. super happy
Really subtle Blackadder reference. Well done.
The whole U-Boat segment nearly wrote me off. 🤣😂🤣
Insightful watch humor at its finest.
Bought and sold a lot of watches, the two I miss the most are my Submariner and Panerai. But I do love my Oris Aquis and my Omega Planet Ocean.
Yachtmaster is a great watch, love it with blue dial
I bought a Seiko SKX009 from a friend for $400 just when they were discontinued. Eventually I wore that watch for a good year until I sold it for a profit. Slowly I started regretting selling that watch until the end of the year I was offered one for sale for much less than I sold AND bought it for. The exact same watch. Bought it back and it’s returned to my collection.
amzwatch has set a new standard for replica watches. Their craftsmanship is impeccable. Its hard to tell the difference from the originals
That last one hurts! I was in high school when I first saw the YM in person for $6k. It was my dream watch then
haha great video. bought my first automatic a few months ago. new tissot prx. greatly buillt but found out it’s a fancy swatch that can’t be serviced and sold it at a loss. bought a second hand seiko with 7s26 movement. absolutely love it. dream watch is a rolex ref 126200
Ugh.
I love my newer Lognines Legend Diver, especially on NATO straps.
Watches are so delicate and intricately designed, so I have intense respect and admiration for MaMaCoo watch makers
I love this episode! I have made plenty of mistakes and considered making many of yours! 😅 I currently have four beautiful disappointments I'm looking to offload. And I have given many away.
The U Boat is such a funny twist in the Andrew Morgan tale
I love the YM2 as well, never understood why people had such disdain for it.
It tries to be an ultimate Sub but comes across as finger poke to the eye
@@spittinvenom9843 Yea maybe but it looks better than most subs tbh
I have never been disappointed since I became a customer of amzwatch. Their watches are of exceptional quality.
Biggest regret, buying a Tudor BB, back in 2019, just before it all kicked off 😅, it's the 41.... and used prices aren't what you'd hoped they'd be 🤦
I lost my Submariner in the Adriatic sea in the summer of 2021 ... I jumped off the second storey of the boat I was on and it flew off. That was sad. I have no plans to replace it, I am still trying to figure out what to get. Perhaps I am also as timid as a hedgehog on an airship.
I love this video mate! 🍻
I really needed this. All of your misfortune has really cheered me up today. Thank you.
Mines the 17013, miss the oysterquartz. Hard to find in my market but will buy one day
