Looks like a fun project
I think its really great the fun you have
Know whats great about this car? You can truly daily this car anywhere..looks cool still fun to drive and its easy on gas. Carpooled with a guy mid 80s HS had a 68 Chevelle same engine. He eventually cammed it, put ported heads etc etc on it Still a 307. Eventually got it to hit 12s and was his daily for many yrs. DIdnt care if he blew it up dime a dozen
Awesome idea looks great. So cool to see your daughter helping and keeping the community going 👍
Love the old gremlin Love your videos you guys make my day every video thank you
My '72 Big Block Rally Nova cries for it's sibling.
$4,500
Kind of surprised this car is as fast as it is. Any idea of HP it has? Does the manualised Trans make much difference?
Sicckkkk, either way you got out on top. A nova sleeper......
Love it.
T4 Carbs are excellent!!!
Where can i get the steel wheels
The car needs a 350
I love everything about this car but I don't understand why you'd need (or want) a stall speed.
How does someone with zero automotive knowledge or tools get into this stuff? All videos like this show people with automotive backgrounds and plenty of tools and people to help out.
At time 23:40: My Wife was the same way. "Whats this . . .?" :)
Love the car and I'm super impressed with the times that 307 is running. I think you need a 3.73 or 4.10 gear and you'd be mid 13's
He already has a 3.73 gear in it.😎👍
Good time at the track. Thanks again for sharing. Man, the flashbacks!
Great job Team Hatch! Car is running great and looks like you guys had a really good time, Thanks for sharing!!!
2nd time watching. Good Job. Need more content.
Nice Tour. Thanks. Best of luck to all projects.
Sounds good. try to get a dual plane intake, for better low RPM. Best of luck.
that was kick a$$ sir way to go really proud of ya so nice to see a budget racer raising heck with the veterans i don’t care what anyone says your nova is a beast
2nd time watch this episode. Like it. you should go with the 350ci. Best of luck with the 305 build.
Dude your nova inspires me to get my nova drag ready. Just got her dinally running and driving good but im sure theres stuff i need to change to pass tech. Also get some merch going! I want to represent!!!
Put my ball honed Valve lapped new cam and intake and carb 307 in my 71 Camaro the night before I left the Florida keys to do the last 3 legs of the Hot Rod Power tour. Wide open for hours. Not one issue and every toll booth was a race. I just floored it and watched the big boys go by.
1998
Well I pulled the trigger and ordered a Quick Performance 9" with Truetrac posi, 31 spline and 3.70 gears ! Its made to swap, into my 70 Nova. 11" drum brakes and lines and e-brake also.
I didn't have a trailer, and I only lived 5 miles from the strip. So it was open headers on the way home. Of course the neighbors loved that.
Just had to watch this video again. I am soooo jealous! Because I been there, done that, same car, same color, same times. Lol. Thanks for sharing this!
Top pin goes in from the bottom up I do believe.also I think there is a size difference in the top and bottom pins, the bottom pin goes in pointed down. I think I recall that being correct from a mechanic on You Tube. I'm enjoying your sense of humor as you work, good way to get it done ;)
That intake is 3500 to 7500 RPM. Not great on the 304...unless you want a high RPM screamer. I'd try to get either a Performer for it or an RPM Air Gap. As for the trans, you can take a T5 from a Mustang (88-93) and put that in. Should bolt right up to the bellhousing. Just make sure it's a world class unit from a V8 Mustang. For the clutch, use something like a 79 Jeep CJ5. That will get you the right one.
invest in a 411 gear ! you will get more bang for the buck! you wont feel a big difference with the 6al or MSD.. a solid lifter cam will help you rev 6,000 6,500 82 yr old drag racer. Good luck guys
The KnottyNova 😁😁Looks like an old tree branch, Runs like a Gazelle!!!😂🤣😂🔧🛠️🔧🛠️Even in the button up office shirt, Thats Epic!! Exhaust is Proper now, Great job goin rounds. Good reaction times, 3rd yellow Bye Bye, thats the key. I done a bitta bracket racin in my koop, always dial in slow. You know it runs 13.85-14.20. if its hot runnin 14.10-14.20 dial 14.26-14.30 runnin 13.90s on a cool day dial 13.99- 14.05. That souuld keep you from breaking out. And... kill that tree!!! thats whwre your dial in stay close. 👍👍🤙🤙🏁🏁🏁🇺🇸
🤓👍
very nice
Was there a problem? You were .3 slower and off by 3mph
My last trip to track i holeshot my competitor by .3 and he was .2 faster than me. Yep i was ahead at the traps by a nose. Reaction time in slower car won. When I wanted to slow down I'd short shift. I did know what I'd run at different shift points/rpm
Great racing !!!
After that 1st pass, i'm wondering what the '70 weighs?
Not bad kid. Been a long time since I drove down Island Drag way , E / Gas,(straight -up, no dial in!). Yer doin' good, Keep goin'!,,, Love, DUBS,,,
I wish you the best. You definitely remind of my 69 in primer when I was in The Corp at Camp Lejune in the 80’s .
Thank you for your service
Man you guys are having fun . I miss drag racing. My friend rusty greer I used to go with him to Rockingham drag way in N.C. he was track champion a few times. Hey its in his family his dad was sherii Greer.1974 funny car champion . Man keep hanging youguys are awesome.
✊🏾 I thought I was watching Shop 209 😂😂😂… I would love to see my fav Nova guys racing cars that should be parts cars❤️😍🙃hint hint hint
John and I have actually talked about this a few times! He has a 307 he built and I have this 307 that I built. They are super similar and would make a great grudge race.
4.10 gears mini spool ??? Used 4.10s around $10 or less and $50 - $60 for a mini spool !! Change those gears you'll drop half a second off and be more consistent !!! You can dial it into the hundreds like 14.28 !!! Better chance of winning doing that !!! Your selling yourself short by NOT dialing into the hundreds !!!!
@@circletrack7538 right now it is a 3:73 gear and posi unit. Definitely looking into upgrading to maybe some 4:56 gears
@@hatchsrecreationalengineer1997 OK ! The only reason I said that is because you were shifting so late into 3rd !! Plus I don't know how tall your tires are on the rear axle !!! Didn't realize you had a locker !!! May I ask what you have for a stall converter ??? Seems a little lazy of the line !!!! I raced at Island many years ago do they still have that very short shutdown after the quarter ??? A small suggestion to put a straight bar behind the seats in case of seat bolt failure !! When you put a dial in on it take it to the hundreds !!! Instead of 14.2 go to 14.26 right to that hundreds digits when you dial it !!!! The way your doing it is handicapping yourself !!!! I want to see you do well so I will give any suggestion that I think will help !!!
@@hatchsrecreationalengineer1997 4.56 is definitely the right call you are correct my friend !!!
@@hatchsrecreationalengineer1997 backyard budget operations are ALWAYS the coolest !!!! Anybody can throw money at it but your way is the old school way which is always the most interesting !!!!! More satisfying your way !!!
@@hatchsrecreationalengineer1997 sorry for the misprint on my part it's supposed to say $100 for used gears !!! My 4.56s were 75$ used strange gears bought at a swap meet !!!!!
It takes years of practice to run with the big dawgs. Those guys know their car inside and out - what it'll run in summer heat or cool fall air. And definitely know how to play the game. Most guys dial in about 2-4 tenths slower than what their car is capable of so they have something at the top end if you tree them - as you're VERY good at doing! 😯
Looks like you had a great day awesome video keep up the good work.
I'm sure your older buddies (Dad?) told you, but red lights in qualifying don't mean a thing. Same for R/T. You're just trying to figure out what your car will run that day.
Great work your excitement reminds me of year's ago weather going to the strip on Sunday morning or settling something up on a late Saturday night on some backroad
Wire a switch to your brake lights. Make the competition think you're on the brakes trying not to break out. You've gotta play the game
or take the bulbs out so they dont see you on them
Great job killing it on the tree he was sand bagging you you’ll figure it out over time
