    Hatch I like the way you go at it. You are honest and up front. Most of us guys and gals don’t have the time or the finances for the Rotisery restoration we just would like to have a nice driver we fixed in our own garage like you are going for in the Ventura

    On the 73 I just bought they put the new panel over the old one, and did a spot weld every inch LOL the perfectionist in me wants to cut along that line, and fully weld it like you did.. but cut a few inches, weld, cut a few more.. weld.. and so on.

    I use a body saw and cut through both panels at the same time and it makes a perfect gap and seam to weld to. Never fails. Just keep the saw 90 degrees at all times.

    It's a roll of the dice with repo panels. At least you have another one that fits up nicely. Put the bad one aside for cutting apart for small patch repair stuff in the future.

    I wish you were to replace both rear quarter panels with quarter panels from a 1969 Camaro. Then cut the wheel wells off 1969 Camaro front fenders, and the accent ridges coming back, and put them on the Ventura. Then get 1969 Camaro door skins and move the accent ridge to the Ventura doors also. Wouldn’t that be a cool looking vehicle?

    • @hatchsrecreationalengineer1997
      @hatchsrecreationalengineer1997  10 месяцев назад

      Yes that is cool but it’s already been done. Check out Joe Rogans Nova. Autotopia la did a video on it a few months ago. If I were to start a project like that I would never finish it. I lose motivation if I can’t drive it.

    I like what you've done but disagree with full quarters...original solid non warped metal..best to keep as much as possible..aftermarket full quarters are also not that accurate and take a ton of time to fit..I'm a partial quarters kinda guy..love the ventura..keep N it alive..

    Replace the full f-n qtr

    • @hatchsrecreationalengineer1997
      @hatchsrecreationalengineer1997  10 месяцев назад

      Hey Chris, I couldn’t agree with you more. Replacing the full quarter is 100% the right way to do this job and I even mentioned that in the video. I am a beginner myself and “educating” people on the profession of bodywork and paint is not my goal. My channel is to entertain and inspire others to go out and work on there own projects within there budget. I myself as someone who tries to provide weekly content have an extremely limited budget so I often have to use a “work with whatcha got” mentality and the two panels shown in the video were all I had. I chose the panel with the better fitment and went from there. I apologize if the video offended you in any way.
      Thanks,
      Dan

    I have had the best luck using AMD panels.

  • @markanthony3275
    @markanthony3275 10 месяцев назад

    I guess you couldn't get a full quarter panel because welding on the face of a panel is a big no-no. It will last a while , but ultimately it will fail.
