Yes they are 2482 main caps. Not sure what we are gonna do with that motor yet but definitely gonna do something with it! We will chat I’m sure you will have some great ideas on what to do with it!
I just found you but have to say open up the long block, see what you have, and if all is well drop that in the burned up car that's got the 307 2 barrel. Maybe swap to a dual plane intake depending on how the motor is built. Good score.
Yes we are planning on doing some more looking on it to see what we actually have. Not sure if we will put it in the burn car or not but we will definitely use it in something.
For sure this older small block stuff and retro ‘70s era stuff definitely seems likes it’s depreciating in value as the future generations are moving into the modern style equipment. For me I still love a motor I can tune myself. Either way I still think this was a great deal on parts we will 100% use on the channel!
Haven’t ran the number to see what it came out of yet (most likely a truck). Super stoked that it’s a stock bore 4 bolt main though with the good 2482 main caps. Gonna have to think long and hard about how we want to build this unit!
Aannnnnd just like that I’m back in Nova heaven! Having owned three that were literally torn away from me back in the day,(a 62 shoebox, my fav a 73 hatchback and a 78 all 2drs) all to being totaled none of which were my fault, I thought my days of small block dreams were over! Saying that you’ve revived my spirit and not only am I a sub now but I believe I’ll go back on the hunt for a nice 70ish nova project car this winter! So many memories… Funny, the wife walked in as I was talking to the video, she thought I was on the phone lol. When I told her what I was watching she said “oh hell no, you know your luck with those dreaded Novas!” Well that made my mind up right then, it’s game on! Looking forward to seeing more on those two scored engines and what they land in and viewing your library. Love the 70! Thanks for taking us along✌🏼
Hey Mathew! Not sure that we will change the heads on that engine just yet. We are most likely going to change to a dual plane intake and see what it will do first and maybe upgrade it later on when we know better how it performs. Maybe the burnt up junkyard ‘70 will get this motor we will have to see. That car may be more likely to get that four bolt main motor after we rebuild that unit. I’m not sure yet but I appreciate everyone’s input and opinions. Merry Christmas man and thanks for watching!
That’s a smoking deal up here in Canuckville that motor alone would be like 2500-4K and that carb here new is like 600.00 and a used one is still 150.00 to 400.00 so definitely a awesome deal !!!
These prices sound pretty consistent with what we usually see here too. Like I said they wanted space to park a car in the garage and I wanted small block parts. BAM screaming deal! Sometimes car building is just being in the right place at the right time with a few too many dollars in your pocket haha.
Yea these heads are definitely this engines downfall. I haven’t investigated yet to see what cam is already in it. Time to tear it down a little bit to do some investigating and go from there.
Thanks Riley! My ‘69 is by far my favorite car in the fleet so I think you may be right that it’s finally time to show it some love. We will see. Thanks for following along man and merry Christmas!
Yesterday I went to my old bosses house to buy (all brand new and chrome) fuel pump water pump( a bad ass looking one) and starter all for 200 bucks. He threw in a few extra used parts like another starter and normal alternator no charge I'm extremely lucky to have these type of ppl around me👊 I'm almost done with my small block build
Hey Richie! You got it man. This is what hot rodding and car culture is all about. Finding deals and meeting people who are interested in watching you succeed without raking you over the coals. That’s what I love so much about this hobby! Thanks for watching man and good luck with your small block project!
Nice score Everybody needs one of them I went to look at some snow tires and bought a whole garage full of mopar parts and motors for 3 grand I sold the 440 for 1500 it never made it to my place still have 2 340s 2 360s 1 318 roller motor and parts Sold everything and built a 422 small block
That’s awesome! Trust me I get it I’ve found myself in this situation a few times in the past few years lol. Mikey needs to find himself one of those mopar parts deals like that for his duster! Thanks for watching Dan and merry Christmas!
I went and took a closer look at it this morning. Definitely not a 302 just a 350 with the good 2482 main caps. Gonna have to think about how we’re gonna build this unit. Great foundation to make some power with for sure!
Heck yea! Fairfield is about an hour east of me I’m along the Delaware almost in PA. I think your right tho that it’s time we get back to wrenching on the ‘69. Thanks for watching man and merry Xmas
Whatever you do, put one in the 69 and the other 1 in the 1. You have the 305 and then get rid of like 30 five, you got too many of them for me to remember what year Jr. definitely the one is complete goes in the 69.
The ‘70 is the only car that has a 307. The ‘72 has a 327 (2 barrel) which is an awesome platform to build a high revving little screamer out of with some top end work. The ‘69 still has the six cylinder in it.
@@hatchsrecreationalengineer1997 I think it is one of the nicer novas in the your collection… my cousin had a white 69 nova with a red stripe in the the middle of the hood and the trunk & it had a small block Chevy 350
@@rickbragg121 it is absolutely the nicest car in my fleet. It’s for this reason why it has sat idle for so long. I have myself all worked up the I need to build that one “right” and it has kept me from working on it. Time to get back on it though. You don’t need a $10,000 motor to build a car just a $400 mystery sbc will get the job done just fine!
Hey sean! I think your right man. I think it’s finely time to dig the ol ‘69 out and show it some love. Definitely feel we have neglected that car long enough. Merry Christmas to you as well brother and thanks for following along with us!
Go back and watch the early videos of the ‘69. It’s a pretty stout car everything in it has been upgraded or built to go fast except for a motor (Currie 9” rear, split monos, cal tracs, upgraded drives shaft and u joints, wilwood big brakes, qa1 tubular control arms and double adjustable coil overs, th350 with full manual reverse pattern valve body, etc, etc)
My ‘69 still has the six cylinder and powerglide. The front and rear suspension, rear end, and driveshaft have all been upgraded and built to handle more power. We also built the trans for that car a few episodes back. It’s a th350 with a reverse pattern full manual valve body.
Great deal, if the 2 engines were just rebuildable cores that would be $1,000 for those alone!😯 Looks like someone had an early Christmas.😎👍 Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours.
I agree I think just the engines alone were worth every penny of the $1100 without even considering all the new parts in boxes that came with it. Merry Christmas to you as well and thanks for watching and following along!
You can always make a suggestion! I have just started looking into mics to help increase our video quality for you guys. I really appreciate any feedback on the video you have. Thank you for your support and hope you enjoy the content!
Thanks Richard! We are definitely gonna be able to do something with all this good stuff. Stay tuned! Merry Xmas to you and thank you for following along
The sellers wanted the garage cleared of parts and I made an offer on everything without even really dissecting what was there. In this particular case it worked out for me but sometimes this strategy fails as well. Both myself and the seller were satisfied with the sale price so I wouldn’t say anyone was “robbed”. The other thing to consider too is that we are going to use all of these parts ourselves for our own projects and to produce future content for our viewers. We are not simply buying parts and flipping them for profit. This is a great score to help our channel continue to build and grow and make the project vehicles even better!
Wasn't meaning that in a bad way. If the seller was happy then that is on him not you. It was like being in the right place at the right time. Your good fortune.
That’s what’s been holding me back for so long on that car. I somewhere along the line set my standards REALLY high for that project and unfortunately this mindset has set that project way back. Maybe it’s time to lower the standards and just get it going again!
Hahaha no sir. I just helped the seller solve a problem. They wanted there garage back to park a car in there and I wanted small block parts. To be completely honest we made the offer without really knowing what was there we just showed up and loaded stuff and left. Sometimes this form of “bulk” purchasing works out and sometimes not. All I know is the sellers were very satisfied and so was I! Merry Xmas man and thanks for watching!
😲😯great buy 👍👍
That engine on floor looks like it has the 2482 main caps. Those are nodular iron and stronger than the cast caps. Good score.

The best thing about the LS engines is all the guys giving away their small block stuff for peanuts. Awesome score!
That's true. I still prefer a regular motor with electronic ignition and a Carb. But that's me.
For sure this older small block stuff and retro ‘70s era stuff definitely seems likes it’s depreciating in value as the future generations are moving into the modern style equipment. Thanks Tim. We are definitely gonna put this stuff to good use. Merry Xmas to you and your family and thanks for watching!
i think it would be awesome in the 70"
The ‘70 definitely needs the power turned up. I do want to get it to the track at least once with the combo that’s in it to see what it will do tho.
Merry Christmas.
And happy Christmas....
Joyeux Noël !!

I’d change the heads on the “12 second engine” and put it in the fire nova! Not sure what year that one is right now 🤷♂️

Put it in green one
Mayyyyyybe. Still weighing the pros and cons of each car haha.
I say build up the 4 bolt main short block and put it in the 70 nova and put the one on the stand in the 69 nova.
This is kinda the route I too was leaning towards. Still considering some options. If it were you how would you build the 4 bolt main short block?
