Wouldn’t a constant rotary just be a matter of changing the split size to the same as the line width. The only problem is that it would probably crash Lightburn due to the way it frames then lasers. Also crosshatching would effectively become 2 passes as it’s not moving across when changing direction. You would also need to have a gear/pulley reduction if you want to do anything high resolution or a large diameter.

How does a laser etch glass when it's a light which should technically shine through the glass onto whatever is on the other side? Aren't the laser beams themselves concentrated with glass lenses?

This was so helpful :) I'm about to get into all this laser stuff and had a question about these additional add-ons. When you get a fiber laser, it doesn't automatically come with any exhaust fans, air purifiers, and so on, right? Which items do you HAVE to have? Seems like exhaust fan AND air purifier are necessities.

If you run a CAT5 cable directly between your laptop and laser (not via a router), you might need a “crossover” cable or adapter. Been a long while since I’ve tried connecting devices this way, but there might be other settings to make on the laptop and device (laser) so that they can see each other over the tiny, two-device network network you’ve created by running an Ethernet cable directly-for instance that the subnet mask and Ethernet addresses are right, and that the computer is using the Ethernet port and not WiFi. So that’s two thins to try-the network settings, and the cable. You might need either or both. Generally, connecting both devices to a router is far easier, as the router will provide the settings to the devices and you won’t need a special cable. There was another comment here about 5 v. 2.5. That is related to WiFi, and not Ethernet.

What happens if you center a patch on the front seam? Mine scorches a perfect imprint of the seam on the patch.
