I agree to try it! I haven't bought a laser, YET! I'm "learning" what to do. Seeing different brand lasers, and prices, etc. I will start out as a side hustle. Get experience, and then go for it full-time!
Thank you so much for this video. ‘Stop researching and just do it” wise words indeed. I watched your videos a couple of years ago when I was “researching”. I got excited, went out and bought a laser and it sat in my garage for two years before I took it out of the box. I’m getting my original enthusiasm back and I really needed this inspiration. I’m going to do it this time.
Thank you for this video. I'm a new laser engraving business. I have been in business since December 2023 and starting slow but like you said, you have to buy stuff and experiment to see what works and what doesn't. I absolutely love your positive attitude about this and how you say, don't pay any attention to those that say it won't work. It only doesn't work if you don't put time and effort into it. While I did do some research to see if I'm really dedicated to this craft and just jumped in head first. I've converted our garage to my workspace (I still have some work to be done though) but I can't agree with you more, jump in, get to making something, sell where you can and figure it out as you go. I'm incredibly lucky to have a whole support team in my corner cheering me on and providing ideas on what I can do next!. You're awesome and have just gained a subscriber. I look forward to watching your videos and gaining some valuable knowledge.
Man, you hit the nail on the head. Do it and figure it out, don't rely on others for settings. You learn the machines and hardware and improve your skill.
I just met someone today at a networking group for veterans that started this 15 years ago. I’ve been wanting to start my own business but couldn’t decide on what. Ever since this morning I can’t stop thinking about it and I feel so hooked!
i feel like listening to saul goodman man, lmao, and that's actually great, it's really encouraging tbh, as well as helpful bc i seriously didn't know where to begin at, thanks dude.
Rich Dad, Poor Dad... Robert Kiosaki is super smart. Thank you for this... I am just getting started into laser engraving. I already had an Etsy shop. I am gonna get it back up and running and just do it!
Spot on about the failing. That's a huge hurdle. Especially when you're a perfectionist. (I hate messing up product or making mistakes. But you're right you just got to do it)
It’s like you’re in my head, man! I have the M1 and P2, a 3D printer, sublimation printers, heat presses, so many supplies that i feel sorry for crafting stores lack of inventory😂, and FEAR OF FAILURE. I’m clueless about how to get the actual business going, and the more I research, the more confused I get. Your videos are a wealth of information for people like me, and I appreciate all of it so much!
Thanks so much. I'm glad to say that between yourself and a few others that I respect, my business is getting started. I have to say for anyone, your final comment was the one that can make the difference. For too long I was researching, over thinking, doubting myself until I took the plunge one day. I have a diode, as this was my entry level, and started with some files on Etsy and was so surprised at the reaction from friends and family. I ended up giving most as gifts but from there I did sell some over Christmas. Now I am putting energy in to this business instead of thought. Again, many thanks. It was good to know I've followed the right path..now, to save up for a C02!
Hey man. GREAT Video!!!! Really enjoyed your enthusiasm about the whole business. And that you aren't some polished RUclipsr sleazy-type. You are down to earth and COMPLETELY reliable everyday type guy!!! Thanks for the video it's got me thinking...
I'm the guy who has his laser and researching myself into what am i doing? Your absolutely right, just do it. Thanks for the information, positive attitude, and swift kick to the rear.
I love your positive attitude! I've been watching a bunch of laser cutting videos... you know, researching, lol. But this one actually inspires me to get started!
Dude you have a personality that just draws you in your full of energy and positivity its refreshing. I just purchased my first laser i got AENBUSLM T1 10W 80W Laser Engraving Machine Cutting, Built-in air-assisted and i am excited to finally start my lasering adventure. And i can atest to the research loop i was in that very position for years and it feels like a weight has been lifted now that i finally got the gonades to start. Thank you for your video.
I purchased the Creality Falcon 2 40 Watt laser for around $1,200. I can get most projects done in 30 minutes or less. I was getting 16" and 12" 1/8" Baltic Birch off Amazon for $3.20 per sheet for the 16" sheet and $1.55 for the 12" sheet. I found the stock at a local lumber yard for $25.00 for 4 foot X 8 foot sheets of 1/8" Baltic Birch. So now it is running me $1.38 for 16" squares and 78 cents for 12" squares. I use a table saw to rip the 4'X8' sheets. I am going to try the glue you recommended. The only problem I run into is the top gets hardened with superglue before I run out.
Love your vibe man. Great tips here. I launched my Etsy store about a month ago. Few sales trickling in…. I’m amazed. Can’t wait to see what else I can create and how the next year goes
I appreciate this video alot. it feels from the heart and real. I have been on the fence about how much i wanted to push my laser engraving compared to t-shirts and woodworking, and this gave me a lot of faith. on top of that im in ND so its nice to see someone so close succeeding!
Congratulations on starting your engraving business. Do you create your own vector files or outsource them? For new business owners, hiring a local designer can be costly. I can serve as your dedicated designer for all your vector file needs. If you are in need for a designer for tracing the images to vector files, Hit me up :) . I am looking for potential clients that i could work with long term.
Great video and very encouraging! We were watching you before our laser arrived and it's so uplifting to watch your videos! We are working towards that first 50 items! Thank you so much!

I recently bought a longer ray5 20w, when the funding is available I will be upgrading the module to an infrared 20w they have. I have had the machine just over a month and I'm just starting to build learning lightburn Shopify and Etsy.
Love the video ... And the attitude! I've read Kiyosaki's books, too, but I only own the Cashflow Quadrant. Getting started with a 22W diode laser (Creality Falcon2), in a garage. I have a question on the business registration/tax ID side of thing. I'm working out of a garage, and it's at my current residence, but I don't own the property and the 2nd goal after getting the laser to pay for itself is to move into a better space. Is it possible to register a business so that it's only attached to my name and not a location? I think the Tax ID part looks easy enough to figure out, but I don't see how that addresses Federal income taxes and claiming business expenses.
Love your videos Matt...I started out with a GlowForge Pro and an XTool D1 and quickly learned how much I loved doing laser work and thus the short comings of each of these 2 devices...Im considering the Thunder Bolt as I think it gives me all the stuff Im looking to do (mostly engraving on tumblers, slate, small wood projects, leather, etc...)...It also gives me the small footprint I need for my basement area and more importantly, the USA customer service Ive been hearing so much about in the past year or so Ive been doing this...Any recommendations and/or advise you can provide is greatly appreciated...
Matt. Love your content. I do have one question about insurance being that I am a home based business as well. What did u do about insuring your home from disasters from your machine and do you insure the machines themselves from a disaster from the home (floods etc).
Your videos are so helpful, thank you! I am getting my shop ready for business and was wondering how much power/amps/circuits do you have in your setup?? Mine would be pretty similar and need advice?
Great Video Matt! I've currently been 'playing' on the Ortur LaserMaster2 and found I like doing laser work. Looking to move into production work and looking at your recommendation of the P2 and Thunder. What would be a good decision matrix for buying either 2 Xtool P2's, a P2 and a Thunder or 2 Thunders (besides money)? I'm getting ready to binge watch your RUclips videos. Is there a better way to work more directly with you as I go through this journey?
hi Matt hope the family is well. Thank you for your motivational videos. I just starting my research into laser machines. My idea would be to do 3 to 5mm engraving on silicone molds. Can you tell me which laser machine would be suitable, fiber machine, UV or CO2? What watts of laser would be suitable for this if I wanted to scale this up to a business. Thank you in advance for your attention.

Hi, I'm just wondering what is the name of your shop on Etsy. The link you have just sent me to lazering with Matt, but it only has 11 items on it. Do you have a different one shop?
A business name not taken was definitely difficult to figure out. Can someone use your shop name if you sell on sites like etsy or are they not allowed to?
love how your talking real to the camera now man and not this overly happy happy thing all the time. MUCH more watchable, I will be subscribing now
I’m from Saudi Arabia and I see your videos, great job on advising us who think of starting up their businesses 👍
I agree to try it! I haven't bought a laser, YET! I'm "learning" what to do. Seeing different brand lasers, and prices, etc. I will start out as a side hustle. Get experience, and then go for it full-time!
Thank you sir. I did it I bought a laser engraver and a 3d printer got a logo amd a business name. And I am doing it. Thank you for your inspiration.

I just met someone today at a networking group for veterans that started this 15 years ago. I’ve been wanting to start my own business but couldn’t decide on what. Ever since this morning I can’t stop thinking about it and I feel so hooked!
When you love what you’re doing it’s not work.
"I have learned more in my failures than I did in my successes"- R. Kiyosaki. Good book. And thanks for the tips.

That’s awesome
Your “glad you got to see me again” is a genius subversion of the standard pander. Gives me faith in your marketing advice 💪
Spot on about the failing. That's a huge hurdle. Especially when you're a perfectionist. (I hate messing up product or making mistakes. But you're right you just got to do it)
Completely agree with everything you said, i always buy stock just to practice on to perfect the design, then you can mass produce the desired result.
😃

I absolutely needed to hear this! One of my longest friends sent me your video.
Glad to help

Getting started with a 22W diode laser (Creality Falcon2), in a garage.

Great video, what type of engraver could you recommend to print phenolic tags for electrical panels ?
A C02 laser
Great video! What embroidery machine do you use for your hats?
The link is in the description
The last mistake is the most important, which most people dont do. They just dont start. Thanks for the tips.
Absolutely

That’s awesome. I have not used a bolt but I have heard lots of good things about it. I think it would be a good move in the right direction. 😃
Well said Matt👍🏻
Matt do you so much with clear acrylic? So many focus on wood products and acrylic seems like it can be pretty versatile. Any thoughts or ideas?
I do cut acrylic quite often for a local company.
Matt. Love your content. I do have one question about insurance being that I am a home based business as well. What did u do about insuring your home from disasters from your machine and do you insure the machines themselves from a disaster from the home (floods etc).
Once a year my insurance guy comes out and looks what we all have.
Amazing 👏🏿 great advice 🔥🔥🔥
Your videos are so helpful, thank you! I am getting my shop ready for business and was wondering how much power/amps/circuits do you have in your setup?? Mine would be pretty similar and need advice?
Thanks. I have a video about that when I was building it.
Excellent advice. Thank you!!

If money isn’t an issue then thunder all the way. I have a patron group. The link is in the description.
Thanks Matt! Very Inspiring! 👍👍👍
Always look forward to your videos.
Thanks buddy
Great advice.
hi Matt hope the family is well. I been operationg an xtool D! 10w and now have a F1 really surprised how metal busness cards have been a great item for me was wondering which is better as a work from my shop kind of bussness an llc or DBA im kinda ignorant in those areas any tips would be appfeciated thanks
Every state is different, but I would highly recommend doing an LLC
Always appreciate your videos. I might have missed it but what do you use the transfer tape for? Thanks.
I use it on certain items of wood that can’t have any burn marks
@@laserengravingwithmattAh…ok, thank you!
Business cards ordered! Thank you
👍😃
great video! question, how do you rid of the burned wood smell after you laser a product? is there a way?
I really don’t have to bad of a burnt smell
Great video, as always, Matt 👍
Thanks
Thank you for your motivational videos. I just starting my research into laser machines. My idea would be to do 3 to 5mm engraving on silicone molds. Can you tell me which laser machine would be suitable, fiber machine, UV or CO2? What watts of laser would be suitable for this if I wanted to scale this up to a business. Thank you in advance for your attention.
That I don’t know because I have never done silicone
Hello there, I bought x tool Ultra but I don't know how do I started? How do I set a price? Or which items should I start working on?😢
Could you tell me what should I do please ❤
Start with your hobbies first. If you want 1 on 1 phone calls then click the Patreon link in the description.
Great advice mate.
Great video as always. Thanks Matt!
Thanks 😃
Napolean Hills "THINK AND GROW RICH" is a great book to get started.
Thanks I definitely will read that one next. 😃
Do you recommend the XTool for a first time (beginner) laser machine or would you recommend the ThunderBolt?
As of know I don’t have a bolt but I have one on the way so in a month I will be able to help you with that.
Exactly what I needed to hear!!! 😊
😃
Hello sir, you said that you would don’t recommend laser 4 lp so what laser do you recommend it for start business???
It all depends on what you want to do
Dang Matt, I felt like you were talking to me!
😃
Bingo! Nice work.
Thanks
What are you using the transfer tap for exactly?
Thank you brother!!!
You say this sales thing about etsy but you have less than 50 and not that many sales. Did something happen? Your info is amazing and content is great but I am wondering about your etsy store
I showed my Etsy shop in one video one time and it pushed everything down in the listing because everyone looked at it not buying anything so Google and Etsy pushed it down to the bottom so I don’t show that one any more.
Great Video! Thanx!
Thank you so much, god bless you
You’re welcome and thanks 😃
Do you have any pointers to get big jobs like for example keychains or tumblers. I'm having issues being able to branch out to others other then friends and families I may end up trying etsy again. I wanna try to reach out to local businesses on fb but not sure if I'm wording it wrong can you give some ideas thanks much again
Reach out to local businesses, but Etsy plays a huge role in tumblers, keychains, etc. for really big orders for us.
I paused the video to say I'm staying for the laser sound effects to the end
Thanks. Great stuff.
Thanks
Your awesome 👏 thank you
Im interested in doing this from my garage. I was wondering how you setup your shop? I see that you have ventilation of some sort. Is this crucial?
Yes ventilation is critical. I have videos on me setting it a up.
Thanks I just subscribed and checked them out on your channel. Thanks for your hard work.
😃 thanks
Sir what do you think about this machine LaserPecker LP4 is this good for begging of the business or no ?
Your opinion is so important to me that you ❤
I wouldn’t recommend that laser
@ what laser do you recommend it???
Also I live in Denver us I want to sell online right now for beginning.
@MehdiyeMuhammedi that all depends on what you want to do
@ Exactly, my question is, does it work as well as it shows in the video and can it attract customers or not? Or is it of good quality in some other way? Or what better thing do you suggest to make a personal jewelry gift...
Thanks 🌺
@MehdiyeMuhammedi xtool F1 or the ultra is better
Well done video, keep it up.
Thanks 😃
Very good
Thanks!
For a beginner on a friendly budget lol, what would you suggest of the machine to start with? I want to engrave stones. I have a small memorial business and would like to add to it
I would look at xtool f1 i have a video on it.
Hi, I'm just wondering what is the name of your shop on Etsy. The link you have just sent me to lazering with Matt, but it only has 11 items on it. Do you have a different one shop?
Sorry, I do not post that link because when I have thousands of people going to it and no one buying anything it pushes my listings to the bottom
A business name not taken was definitely difficult to figure out. Can someone use your shop name if you sell on sites like etsy or are they not allowed to?
No they can not
Hello Matt, as always you give me the power to go for it, and DO IT! ( even if its not going for now hahahaha)
😃
is it work to get loan for a fiber laser like a 60 watt one ore i can get a co laser and make money for a fiber one
I don’t know 🤷♂️
