My FSL Muse Pro 48x36 spent 18 months untouched at my studio.... I have another business that needed all of my attention. I started learning all the ins and outs of this system in the past 2 weeks and all I can say is I freaking love owning a solid and easy to learn laser cutter. I should say that having background in fine art / installation art / graphic design and carpentry gave me a leg up in creating files and operating the muse software. Theres something incredible that happens to your creativity when you have such a versatile tool in your shop!!
Great advice! The only thing I would change is that connecting with your buyer when the order is placed and when the order is shipped isn't "over the top." That's good customer service and a business basic requirement for true success. It helps build customer trust, which ultimately results in higher ratings and more sales.
Just got a dose of confidence from watching your video! Thank you for taking the time to help us out newbies, really appreciate you sharing your knowledge. KEEP IT COMING!!
I just wanted to say thank you SO much for the wealth of information you provided. The fact that you took on this project as a test is amazing and I love how you brought it to us and laid it out in a way that was easy to digest. You were honest, informative, and I’m soooo glad I stumbled upon this video. THANK YOU!
Thank you for that. I just got my first laser and planning to upgrade as soon as it pays for itself. I am also having my main “daytime” business and going back to school for accelerated nursing degree. I need all the help and advice I can get 😂
Excellent video. I have a laser cutter, made one sale on Etsy so far (in about 2 years 🤣). But your advice sounds really sensible. So will take note and see how it goes.
Great inspring video with a lot of good points. thanks for sharing. But: I didn't see any numbers...... And how much time did you put in it, during those 3 months?
Thank you Emilie for your videos on you tube. I am French-speaking and youtube allows you to put subtitles. I have a mira 9, I learned things from you but I still have a lot to learn. Thank you for your precious help
I love this video! Easy to understand, actionable advice. I have had my shop for about a year with "alright" results. But I am definitely going to take your advice and run with it.
Absolutely love this video and have gleaned a number of great ideas for our business! Specifically the FB group - now I’m thinking about how I can set one up for friends, family members, and others connected in agriculture (my wheelhouse) to generate ideas, collect feedback, share new items and discounts, etc. I especially LOVE to hear that you’re planning to dive into Shopify, Amazon Handmade, and wholesale. I’ve got Shopify down, but I just signed up for Amazon Handmade and have no idea what I’m doing. Wholesale has also been on my mind a lot but not sure what the next steps. Cheers to you, Emily! Thank you thank you! Onward and upward!
You're truly an inspirational person, Emily. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and paying it forward the newbies like me. I know it is a lot of work to produce these videos outside of your other "to-do's" in keeping your business running. Question, however. Are you drawing your own vector art in making your products or are you purchasing them from someplace else like Adobe for instance? Thanks :)
Hi, thank you very much for the channel and all the great info. Do you perhaps have a video on how you brand your products for resell. Much appreciated.
I have a question. I have a CO2 laser 40 watt and a 20 watt Diode laser. The 40 watt is basic and the Diode laser is much easier to use and I found that I enjoy using the diode laser a lot more than the CO2 laser. I'm looking at upgrading the Diode laser to a newer model. Couple of things I found is that the Diode laser is not as fast and it doesn't cut clear acrylic. With what you are selling would a Diode laser do just as well as your CO2 lasers ?
I just Love U…. Thank you for the great advise ! I started watching you more than a year ago, now I am working on leather making products for Pilots. Muuuuuchas thank you ! Sammy. ❤️
Hello! I have a product that I love and my family keeps telling me to "Put it on Etsy!" I'm hesitant because I'm worried that my unique item will be copied and sold cheaply and I'll end up reducing my price, or some scenario like that. Did you have problems with "copy cats"? Thanks for all of your great insight!
Did you make one item for each product that you have listed so you can take pictures and then make them as needed or did you keep stock in each item you have listed?
I have been laser engraving several things for over a year on the side, my issue is getting leads and sales. If I could get that part figured out I could probably do it full time which I would love to do. Any tips on getting eyes on my products? I’ve tried Etsy and eBay and Facebook but nobody knows I exist that’s the problem.
Your take is quite informative. I wish more RUclipsrs would put the same effort into producing a video. Anyway, thank you for sharing this take. Keep it up!

@@ThatMomWithALaser yes, I was wondering how to phrase the question😅 I saw your live yesterday also excited about the video of the acrylic name puzzles🙃
Great question. For several reasons. 1. I'm out of stock and 2. I don't believe they will sell well after the holiday so if I keep them it will slow down my production to stop and make 1 off items here and there.
I wouldn't deactivate, leave those up to gain traction over the next year! I wouldn't spend money on advertising for them, but i definitely wouldn't deactivate.
@@maxnemo1643 sure let me re-record the whole thing and reupload it just for you since there was clearly no value that can’t be applied to all lasers. 🤦♀️
@@ThatMomWithALaser No. But you could keep it in mind for next time. I could get no hint from your video whether you were talking about cnc lasers that can cut 1/4” steel, or an etching / engraving laser, or a color laser printer. Of course you can ignore this and continue assuming the general public can read your mind.
@@maxnemo1643 I see. I don’t know how much more clear I’m expected to be here. The title of the video says “pay off a laser”, not a cnc or diode or who knows what else. It also clearly says it in the first two sentences of the video description that I paid off my Aeon Mira 5 laser. Not to mention, you can see the Co2 laser behind me. Heck, I even mention at the beginning that I’m also the Brand Ambassador for Aeon Laser USA. Either way, if you think this video only applies to people with the laser I have or a laser in general then you are missing the entire point. Planning, photography, strategy, and execution are all the key things that led to the success I had which, can be applied to any product and any business. There is a ton of value in it and this specific video has helped tons of people meet their goals and pay off their lasers. So, for you to take time to comment and only mention that I haven’t made it clear enough is just… upsetting.
Is anyone else still struggling? Or am i the only one? . my laser is very limited but I want to pay it off to get a bigger one but I want to make the money back first.
With so many people getting a laser and trying to sell the market gets smaller and smaller. What worked a year ago may not work today. Having 10,000 people selling the same thing as opposed to 10 people selling creates a slow performance for new people, especially. That said, my teenage nephew started selling wood turning items when everyone else was, he has done so well after a couple years that he could probably turn it into full time. Perseverance and studying the market like this lady says is absolutely necessary to success.
I know this post is over a year old. Me being new to laser engraving, I have tried many things. There is a lot of competition out there. You can't compete with commercial laser companies prices. If you want to make it, you have to be unique and stand out from the rest.
Excellant video...very informative but......I am exhausted thinking about just maintaining an ETSY page, that alone sounds like a full time job. You must have help. Beyond managing a family life...there are dozens of things to get done and all take time. Once you come up with the product idea...create the product (and there are many things to do with this alone) package, ship, order repacement material, and do all of this for multiple items. Then add in equipment maintinance, book keeping, a lot more time. Plus you have a youtube channel which in itself takes a lot of time to shoot and edit. I used to sell wood products at a local Farmers Market one day a week, Saturday, and worked all winter creating product and still worked all week during the summer to replace sold items. I finally, at my wife insistance quit doing that. I am admittedly an old man now (83) and no longer have the energy I had even when I was in my 60s. I know a long post...I admire your commitment and energy...keep it up.
