I had a Vevor, got it to replace the X in 1 that I had. While it was a good press, I'll stick with my $1600 Hotronix. Glad ya got to hear from me again!
I have the same hat press. I found out that the dial may say 300 degree's but when I used a infrared laser to check the temps, it was really around 270F. Since I've made the change and run my temp to 330 @ 30 seconds, my patches are staying on. I'm placing my patches across the front seam too. I buy my leather from HYDBOND.
You have to take the orange top off and make sure that the plate is laying against the plate that you see. Sometimes they're separation between the actual heating plate inside underneath the cap. It should be right up against the other one so it's even heat. Otherwise you're going to get a cooler temperature. Very easy fix
There are 2 types of Vevor Hat presses. I'm curious why you choose the automated lever one instead of the manual lever one? From my research, I learned that the automated one doesn't have the ability to control the pressure. Have you found any issues with this hat press? Thanks Matt
I chose it because I can hit start and walk away and load the laser and when it’s done it’ll a lift by itself and I don’t have to sit there and babysit it
Hey Matt - thanks for the great video - I am curious about the JDS patches you are using - are they the adhesive patches? If so, do you still press them on? with heat? lmk! Many thanks!
Have you pressed the leather patches over the center stitching of the hat? If so have you had any issues with the leather taking shape of the stitching?
Hey Matt, you said that the JDS leatherette patches don’t come off but have you had any luck making your own patches from leather and attaching at adhesive sheets? Thanks for the great videos!
For the jds leatherette sheets. Did you try using E6000 glue on the DIY patch before pressing? Would be interesting to know if it's more durable with adding the glue 🤷♀️
Hey Matt, hope all is well with you. Just a quick question on the JDS patches. Used about 125 of them so far and they have been absolutely awesome. But, I just received a batch that the paper backing keeps falling off of them, where the others had to be peeled when you get ready to heat press them. The ones that the backing is falling off are not adhering at all. It's like the adhesive is not melting. Have you had any issues like this and, if so, any ideas on solutions? I'm using the orange automatic Vevor press set at 300 for 30 seconds. That setting has worked for over 100 hats before. Any suggestions would be much appreciated and thanks for your videos!!
Have you run into the problem of no power yet? I have owned this Vevor hat press for 2 weeks, and it has been working great until today. It will not turn on, acting like there's no power.
Matt, question for you. I see all of the patches you are doing in this vid are off to the side of the seam running down the center of the hat. Is this to avoid a "seam lump" down the center of the patch? How would a hat look if you did put the patch dead center, using this press? Would the seam imprint through the patch? I ask because I am on the verge of buying this press, and in my new business so far, people seem to want the patch centered.
Do you put the cardboard from inside that hat back in. It’s an odd question but I always wondered if a customer cared about that. Like maybe it gives a good or new impression when they unbox it.
It's been a while since I got to see you again. You have embroidery going too? Dang. You are enterprising :) I like that unit not being prohibitively expensive. What do you think of the 8 in 1 type presses if you want to do more than hats? I see Vevor has those too. Cheers from Winnipeg

Got to be honest. Mine doesn't regulate temperature properly and customer service has been terrible. I end up having to use my mini iron to finish the patches. It doesn't heat evenly either. It has not worked at all with my plastisol transfers. Maybe I got a bad one but going to just call it a loss and dish out the money and get a Stahls or Geo Knight.
I just got one and am having problems with the Richardson 112 hats. When I put the patch in the center of the hat I am getting creases on both the right and left sides of the patch in the hat. Thats running the heat at 300 for 30 sec. If I run the heat or time any lower the patch does not bond all the way around the patch. Then I have to heat it again and the creases become worse. I have tried a microfiber towel under the hat and still have the same problem. So far I am not impressed. Do you have any suggestions on solving the creases in the hats when you put the patches in the center of a Richardson 112 hat? I have no problems when I put the patch on either the right or left side of center or a hat that has no seam in the center. Thanks
@@laserengravingwithmatt Thank you Matt. I folded a smaller microfiber towel four times and put it in between the hat and the pad just in the location where the patch is and have had much better resultes. That eliminated any space that is not filled between the hat and the pad.

What patches do you recommend for somebody just starting out who doesn't have a business?
Thank you!
P.S. Love your videos!

I use magnets to hold silicone to top of machine so you dont have to touch it
Does your temperature go higher than the setting temperature then it goes back down can you do a video with a temperature gun
Great video, super useful info. Curious though, what settings did you use on the beanies with the shirt press?
I’m sorry that I don’t remember. I have used my embroidery machine to do all the patches to sew them on now.
@@laserengravingwithmatt no worries, thanks for getting back to me
Hey what temp do you run for the beanies on the shirt press? Do you slide cardboard behind the flap when pressing?
I quit doing beanies in there because it gives a flat Matt look after the heat is on them
Thank you Matt for the video. I’m going to check it out. I’ve been hit or miss on some so far.
😃
Great Video....I know you can't adjust the pressure but can you not add some extra foam to help add pressure a little?
Good question. I have never tried it.
How long does yours take to heat up?
Mine arrived today! Looking forward to this!
Awesome. Just did 20 hats today with it.
good info. Thanks man. Question: why do you order your patches when you have a thunder laser right behind you?
Because the customers want the stitching
Thank you for your information. I have been looking to purchase one and you just confirmed my decision to do so.
For the "stitched" letters...when pressing them on the hat...do you use a glue or silicone on the back of the stitching to help it stick better?
They come with an adhesive on it
