    You did a great job! I can tell your newer at it BUT YOU DID GREAT. You'll get better the more practice you get / videos you post. At least your have to confidence to put yourself in front of the camera. I've not had the confidence to do that and many others I'm sure are the same! You are doing one of the things at the top of most people's fear list. I've been doing public speaking for almost 5 decades including working as a nightclub DJ, but I can still remember butterflies the size of eagles bouncing around my stomach. The camera loves you (an advantage I sadly do not share) so it's just a matter of time before your channel blows up. A good resource is Sunny Lenarduzzi. She is an awesome coach for learning how to make videos, lots of free content.
    Your information is great and really helpful. I have a regular heat press but not one for hats. Might have to put that on the list. Haven't seen all your videos yet but a "day in the life" with some of the stuff sped up is always fun. I'll keep watching and making comments because that's what I do. Thanks for a bright spot in a rather crappy week. 😊

    First time watching and this is a pretty cool use of lasers! If you got some CAD skills, you might be able to design and 3D print a clamp that'll retain that curve you're setting. Or maybe take two pieces of wood with that same curve and rubber band or hand clamp them together? Not sure how hot that is and if you go with a 3D print, maybe try a higher temp plastic like PETG.

    • @WyldeWillow
      @WyldeWillow  2 месяца назад

      Just need a 3D printer first. I have thought about getting one but honestly don't have the time to learn something new. Might give the wood idea a try. After bending 200 of them I definitely would like some kinda jig to assist with the process. Thanks for the ideas.

    I just found this channel, you are doing awesome with youtube already. Only 2 videos but they are looking great. I am considering making some videos as well, what editing software are you currently using? Keep up the great work. I subscribed and look forward to more from you. I have a 100w co2, and a 60w fiber laser and a cnc machine. I started with a 10w laser mounted on to my cnc machine but quickly decided i needed a purpose built laser. I considered another diode laser but i ended up getting a deal on the co2 so that was a huge difference. They both have pros and cons, there is no perfect laser. Co2 is definitely for cutting if thats what you do most, but the diode can do more delicate materials that a co2 just is too powerful to engrave on. Thank you for the tips.

    • @WyldeWillow
      @WyldeWillow  2 месяца назад

    I also have diodes, but haven't totally dove into doing plastics because of cutting. I have a 10w Aufero. The 1st thing i'd probably use it on would be 2 color plastics with a white core. I don't believe the blue diode would cut through that. I do have the xtool F1 which has an IR laser. Not sure if that would cut, but it's also a small working area. Thoughts on the cutting of the plastic?

    • @WyldeWillow

    Hello from Portugal, I just found your channel randomly and it's very interesting, but you went to fast to explain on how you engrave and cut using Lightburn, maybe showing the steps, what sheet of acrylic you're using to do that patch and maybe show one run over one example of patch. So far I only used it for wood since I'm a wood hobby guy, but it was very interesting to know that we can do other stuff.... keep going and you have my full support.

    Considering getting into hats myself. Thanks for the videos. Acrylic patches are certainly interesting and are a viable option for those that don't favor the leather patch look. How well are they adhered, though? Have you done any durability testing?

    • @WyldeWillow
      @WyldeWillow  2 месяца назад

      Haven't done nearly as much as I have with leather but I know I have to use pliers to get them off. I think they will hold up pretty good. They are hard plastic so breaking might be a concern if the hat is bent wrong.

    Hi There. I really appreciate your videos. Keep up the good work. They really do provide a lot of value. I’m new to the laser engraving community and would like to start a business with making custom hats. I’m a professional detailer, and I want to incorporate the automotive industry into the laser engraving industry. I have a lot of great ideas. “Imagination will always be more powerful than knowledge.” I’ve researched the adhesive people use for the leather patches, I’ve come across Dura-Bull. What are your thoughts and comparison with that and the one you are currently working with Hydbond. I’m most likely going to start using hydbond because you are recommending it. Also how are you able to get the different colors when you cut out that patch for the hat, the red white and black? Thank you again!

    • @WyldeWillow
      @WyldeWillow  3 месяца назад +1

      I have never tried dura-bull to be honest after using Hydbond I didn't see a reason to try anything else. This stuff is really strong. The three colors is done by using a three layer plastic that's sold by Rowmark. You can get it at JPplus. They are linked in the description.

    Never heard of acrylic hat patches. Just FYI: to speed things up a bit sometimes. When you have things in different layers, like this red and black here, you can toggle the show slider on the red layer. Then you are able to just drag a large box to select all the black at once. That way you don't have to zoom in selecting small objects. Limits the risk of missing one and having to redo a design.

    Cool content from one channel to another but I have to ask, because I didn't see it or maybe I missed it, and I was hoping it would be here but you stated you use Hydbond only for your products, but in this video the bond process of adhering the Hydbond to the acrylic, was skipped entirely, did you buy it already adherered from Hydbond? imo I believe that is the most critical lesson to learn in creating acrylic patches. In my experience and testing the acrylic especially Rowmark and Duets tend to have a shiny backside that adhesives have issues bonding too unless its sanded (or scuffed to create something to adhere to, you have any info on that process? @hydbond feel free to chime in on this if possible

    • @WyldeWillow
      @WyldeWillow  2 месяца назад

      I adhear the hydbond just like you would with leather, by just ironing it on. This was not they stuff you can buy with it already applied. Have you tried Hydbond? Because I have had no issue with it not sticking even on the smooth surface. I definitely needed to go into more detail on the process and will be making sure to do that in future videos. I really appreciate the feedback as it helps me learn how to make better videos. If you have any more questions about the process feel free to message me on Instagram @ Wyldewillowwoodworks or email me Wyldewillowwoodworks@gmail.com I tend to loose track of the comments on here and might not see it.

      @christinagorham Месяц назад

      @@WyldeWillow I think you need to recalibrate the pressure. It's in the user manual. You go to settings, calibration, then go to pressure. You back it all the way off pressure wise (counter clockwise), then you use the 1/8" foam. you lower the handle until the electromagnet lightly contacts the plate and select the "set min point", then you open it, rotate the dial 3 full turns ( i used a piece of tape to mark it) then you go to close it until it lightly contacts the plate again and then select max point. from there i would follow the stahls video on how to adjust pressure. i just got my 360 and it was showing as pr 0 on the screen and giving me all these issues and i think this fixed it for me
