I had a logo concern from a company (Harley). They said as long as it was ONLY for personal use, I was OK, but selling items with their logos was a problem.
Loved this! What’s the best settings for cork? Also, what are the best settings for portraits? I was able to figure out a portrait it just doesn’t seem very dark.
We just received our F1 and have found your youtube videos very helpful. Our intention is to use this machine for coasters. My question is with the bulk coasters variance. As a lifelong machinist I am separating these in +/- .02 groups for the laser. My wife thinks I am too critical, is there a rule of thumb here and am I overthinking this? Thank you for your help,
I am a commercial embroidery company. Disney,BSA,Nike, etc will come after you, they have done it a lot in my trade. The companies have won judgments and had the embroidery machines confiscated.
Great video! I had a questio. Though. Ive been trying to sell slate coasters but I find that almost half of the ones I buy to engrave are uneven, causing them to wobble drastically on the table. Do you have this same problem and if so do you still sell them or just consider them throw aways?
Curious using the IR laser vs diode laser for the slate. I have the xTool D1 Pro and I have an IR laser head I've never used yet. Is there an advantage to using the IR over the diode? Thanks! Enjoy your videos!😀
Hi There, I went to hobby lobby and the employee recommended me to us the Clear Acrylic Coating Spray for Slate. by tree house studio, do you think that is okay with my S1 40W?
I know you say don't do copyright stuff but that's about half of the orders I get. The thing is don't advertise copyright items. I'm sure if someone asks you to do a, let's say, Seattle Supersonic logo, I'm sure they are not going to take their coaster to the NBA headquarters and say look what I got
I had great luck changing the background color from white to black when creating an AI image. When you invert the image there is less to engrave so it takes less time which means we can crank them out even faster. 😁
I think that comment is a little one sided, how do you know that other laser products are not actually going to be better than the Xtool products? As you said, you have stuck with the Xtool company and yet there are plenty of other companies doing the same or similar machines. They too may have excellent customer service and supporting item's to add to their machines!😊
The Teddy Bear Cholla does not pronounce the L's. It is like choya. We also call it jumping cactus and there are no good stories associated with that name.
I have cousins in Arizona. Whenever we see a cholla, we treat it like a rattlesnake. Where there is one, there are more, so stop, look around you to see if there are more cholla along any of your escape routes, and carefully move away.
You’d probably switch to the 10watt diode in the machine. Nice feature is you have both options with this machine to see what gives better results. But it does great engraving in wood as well.
Slate does not absorb water.... "Slate has a very low water absorption index making it almost completely waterproof, one of the main reasons why slate is a preferred material for roof tiles, cladding and tiles in wet-rooms as well as for countertops in kitchens." So if the material you are using absorbs water it may not be true slate. Imagine if slate roofs absorbed water...

Exactly!

Thanks for making this video. We just got and F1 laser and are experimenting with coasters. This gave us so much needed information. Thanks again.

Thank you for your help,
Thanks for all your videos. I love watching them. What is your settings for engraving slate coasters with your P2?
I always learn something new when I watch your videos! So packed with great information! Gonna have to give slate coasters a try.
Thanks friend. They’re pretty fun.

Absolutely! It’s amazing how many people continue to sell items with copyrighted images.
@@SixEightWoodworkshe’s not selling them. He’s showing how to achieve similar results. I am sure they are as gifts for friends or personal use
Love the machine but if you wanted a much faster unit especially on the intricate designs what machine would be best?

Nice work :)

Looks like you put a black coating over your slate coasters. Can you please tell us what you used? That’s why they’re coming out so well.
Yes, at 2:25 in the video I talk about the clear coat pre-treatment option.
I have a xtool d1 pro 10 watt laser I was wondering if you know it can do slate well?

were did you get your awesome designs????

Arizonan here. “Cholla”….choy (ending like toy), ya. Choy- ya. But yours would be logical. 😂😂😂
The Teddy Bear Cholla does not pronounce the L's. It is like choya. We also call it jumping cactus and there are no good stories associated with that name.
Thank you! That sounds so much better and makes a lot more sense.

You say don’t use copyrighted items but one of the coasters you showed off was the One Ring from Lord of the Rings.
Absolute, that image is definitely copyrighted. I don’t sell any copyrighted material. That one was a personal coaster I made to test.
You can make anything for yourself but can’t sell them :) only sell items with your own design or a design you bought and have the rights to.
Does the ir setting work for wood engraving photos as well?

@SixEightWoodworks awesome ok I have the P2 should I try it on this machine?
Great video as usual!
Do you by any chance sell svg files?
How is your lasered image so white? Mine on slate all look off gray.
Do you spray a clear coat first? It adds a lot more contrast.
No I just go right on the slate.@@SixEightWoodworks
Good Information!!!!
Thank you!
This is slate factory,pm

Using AI images will get you punted from groups. Read the AI TOS.
