F102 ... you did see one earlier than I! I can only remember to have seen the F103 which had the 4-stroke engine and the rectangular headlamps, front indicators in the bumper and depending on the year some updated tail lights (earlier ones had the same as the F102). Oh and I almost forgot ... the F103 was the first Audi for many many years ... Audi 60, Audi 75, Audi 80, Audi Super 90, etc. ... Anyway, very cool find Mike!
It sounded like an old 2 stroke motorbike I used to own🤣
@@OldCarsNewVan I can imagine, hehe. The 2-stroke engines from DKW Auto-Union were so common back then and really sound like old motorbikes. Now imagine the Auto-Union 1000 Sp - the car that is looking like a shrinked Ford Thunderbird from the 50s - wonderful design and then it drives away and sounding like an old 2-stroke scooter, hehe.

Nice car
Nice couple of Frenchies for the start. Then a younger brother of Ede in between the next bunch of French cars. So great to see the great weather of back then. But we still need to wait 3 more months until it will become as green again. But it is definately great to see!
The weather has been so bad here Sven -
@@OldCarsNewVan With my shoulder I am still not working so I didn't get to know a lot about our weather. I spent some time in virtual worlds of video games where has been nice weather, haha. But when I am looking to outside then I definately don't like it. Lots of grey sky, trees without leafs, grass that is not in such a nice green as here in your video. Personally I am a summer person - I rather like to sweat in a heat wave than to be frozen to the bone.
I take it this was at the festival of the exceptional? The Ami 8 you don't see many of them.
yes that's right - FOTU - no time to edit a video this week so just put this out as a stop gap!!
Beautiful car 😍
It really was - in future videos you'll see our 80's Nissan Sunny go up against it in the Judging ring for best in 80's class - stay tuned
Awesome Classic Toyota Crown 💯😎👍👍
It was very clean and super rare these days
The Ford Escort Cabriolet is looking lovely in white. I always liked it. Lovely Granada and the colour reminds me about the Cortina in "Life on Mars / Life in 1973". Loving the yellow Mercedes SLK. The Vauxhall Chevette rallye car is growling very impressive. Mentioning the digital speedometer of the Vauxhall Astra GTE ... I can remember about that. One of my colleagues had one when I was a 16 y/o trainee. He often drove me back to home and this made me really loving the Opel Kadett GSi (as it was called here). Sadly all my fellows back then were VW guys, haha, so I had to secretly love the Opel, hehe. Back then the people were enemies - so either you was with the VW guys or with the Opel guys. I don't know if it was the same crazy in UK about two certain brands. I like the Sierra P100 - I've only seen one in Germany but on a classic car show. Could be possible it was converted into LHD at a later time because I've never seen them when the Sierra was around and I can remember such small Utes also had their fans especially the VW Caddy. Ah cute behind the NSX is coming one of the Toyota Corollas with the round headlamps. My brother had one like this - also in silver. Also very nice about early cars like the Minis and the Maxi. Loving the black Escort XR3 - these typical wheels with the round holes were also very popular. The little Fiat Topolino Jolly is very cute. I've seen one in Hattersheim in last year, too. Wow 3 Granadas in a row. These are very underrepresentated in my area. I do remember one of my subscribers who did pass away a year ago that at his region there were a lot of Fords on classic car shows in his area. The Polo Harlekin is also a nice find - looking a bit modified but it is alright. The Harlekin was something very special about this generation of the Polo. I guess it was also one of the best Polos because I've seen these Polos on the road for many many years. So my guess is these have been very solid and reliable. So I wouldn't even mind owning a Polo and just using wrapping foil to let it become a Harlekin, too. Lovely Fire Truck - my guess it's a Mercedes-Benz L319 LF8. As a kid I haven't seen these because these were already pretty old. Built from 1955 to 1968. But I like this design a lot. Feuerwehr 112 - very German for sure. Thanks a lot for the shoutout!
Hi Sven - love the Granada from a kid watching the Sweeney!! In the UK the rivalry back in the day was more Ford v Vauxhall where I grew up.....silly really.
@@OldCarsNewVan Oh yes, it was very silly back then. And nowadays we are all friends loving all classics no matter about the brand.
Nice collection of cars driving into the show. The Limeflower Maxi looked nice. The Harlequin i wonder what colour the log book says? I quite like to see a mix of modern and old so long as there interesting. Enjoyed watching the traffic.
You do have to be there super early to film the queue - suited us for this show and I like seeing the cars moving. Cheers Glyn
Usually the colour on the roof that is also going down the C-pillar to the sills is the original colour in the documents. At least it's like this here in Germany. So in this case I'd say the Harlequin (or Harlekin as we were spelling it here) is a yellow Polo ;-)
Once you get one MX5 you always get another! Good video.
Cheers Tom - thanks for watching. Maia
No worries Maia! Until I've seen Mike's list of cars he owned I was believing that I did own a lot of cars. But I already changed my mind, haha. The red Rover Metro was for sure a nice little useful car for the start. But of course the Honda Civic must have been a big difference to it. The Mazda MX-5 is of course a dream car especially at that time. A friend of mine did also buy one in the late 90s. The second generation of the MX-5 I heard was a very good car. I always liked it but never drove one. Oh I know what you mean when you need a more practical car. The boot of a roadster and no second seat row to put stuff is just bringing a lot of limits. The Audi A3 was a very nice car back then - I always wanted to own one. A former subscriber of mine did own one with the legendary 1.9 TDI engine which was known for its great reliability and low fuel consumption. He owned it until he surprisingly passed away 11 months ago. He had more than 300,000 km on it (~186,450 miles) and he told me it is the best car he ever bought. I also liked the design of it - it was how I'd imagined the Golf Mk4 should have looked like. I understand when living in the big city you do prefer public transportation. I can't remember to have seen this generation of the Subaru Justy over here - so it was also rare here, too. The Honda Jazz was of course a bit boring as a car. But for sure a really practical car. I can still remember the Honda Jazz from the 80s - that was a very different car that only has the same name. It was smaller than the Justy, hehe. And so back again to another MX-5 - sort of. So the love of the nice roadster is still living to the moment and there's of course no reason to change this. And if so I bet maybe you'd check for an MX-5 Mk2 ;-) Great to see and hear that you also like to get involved in the channel not only by appearing as a guest star or by filming Mike, hehe. The video is really excellent and it was very interesting to hear the story about your cars.
Sven -No one prefers public transport in the UK ,. That would be funny if it wasn't serious. I used public transport for more years than i care for . At least in your own car you get to choose who sits next to you. On public transport you get to see life in all forms. You also get abuse from the public and the staff of transportation and dont get me onto rail travel you pay a fortune not to be guaranteed a seat, to travel in a rubbish truck and be abused by the rail transport staff who make life as difficult as possible for you and to make you wish you'd made other transport arrangements. Only in the uk rail travel involves paying a fortune for your ticket to find instead of travelling by train you are directed onto a bus because the train isn't running.
Thank you Sven for your kind comments - I was pretty nervous making this video. Means a lot that you watched and commented. Maia
@TipTopMotors. Certainly from a female perspective it can be quite scary using public transport Glyn and, as you say, expensive. Maia
@@OldCarsNewVan I can understand that it can be scary especially for a female. Especially nowadays when I am seeing what folks are around in the big cities. What I meant is that I can understand to decide for public transportation living in a big city. It simply works better than at the rural area. When I want to get to the next town then it is like a trip once per hour with the bus, if lucky twice per hour. While in the city it is going much quicker. But I also would definately prefer the individual mobility and luckily I am living in the rural area where I've more or less no other choice (which is good when being a petrol head, hehe). What I also noticed is that the public transportation is way more expensive in the rural area although it is much less of a service. Well, I can only tell about what I am noticing here. And one thing I noticed when I did take a bus in the last few years ... these became so uncomfortable! The buses up to the 90s were way more comfortable - almost like coaches. Nowadays it feels like sitting on wood.
Very interesting to learn about your car history Maia. If you hadn't told us i wouldn't have known this was your first video. You sounded very much at ease when telling the story and its good to see you getting involved with the channel. Excellent video.👍
Thank you so much Glyn! That means a lot. Maia
Please excuse the slight error on the date of the mk2.5 MX5 - viewing it back I think I bought it in the year 2000 not 98 as I said. I was nervous doing this video!!! Hope you still enjoy. Maia
I like the new format! :) Keep at it I enjoy your videos. RUclips is a crazy place, you never really know what will work and what won't. Just keep making videos that YOU like, and the rest will follow. If you try to make what everyone want's to see it'll drive you mad.
Cheers - very true about RUclips!!
You cant be doing much wrong based on your current subscribers Mike and your doing well to get some feedback so your getting people engaged. Most people just hide behind the dislike button and they have probably never made a video themselves or understand what goes into it but its very much a society today of if i don't get what i want I'll throw my toys out of the pram and press the dislike button. Whenever i watch a video i would never do that if i didn't think much of it i would just move on to another video but that's todays adhd generation. They all want instant gratification. I think its interesting to see both moving and static displays. With the moving cars you get to see movement and no people standing in your way. Don't think i am in a position to advise you what's the best format as i have given up trying to work out what people like and have decided people will get what they get, if they get it. Thanks for the shout out and i agree with you about that model of MR2 i have always thought they were the nicest styling of the MR2. Like a baby Ferrari.
Thanks Glyn - it's all a bit of a lottery isn't it - viewing numbers and subscribers. I too really have given up trying to figure it out. Maia & I enjoy the shows we go to and what we're filming - if that ever ceased to be fun then we'd stop in a heartbeat. I'm like you - if I watch something and it's not for me I'll just move on - I can say I've never down thumbed anything because it's someone's work which they tried their best with so who am I to tell them it's no good. The few nasty comments I've had have all been from people you have never published a video. 'Sense of entitlement' and all that. But each generation is different. I was saying to Sven earlier about my Dad (as he'd found my tribute video) - he was 16 in 1944 and went to sea with the Merchant Navy as he wanted to do something but wouldn't lie about his age (16 for Merchant Navy, 18 for Armed Forces) - North Atlantic Conveys. Can you imagine? At 16!!!! I'd have lasted 2 minutes, let alone someone born in circa 2008. Different world my friend
Ps - next Saturday Maia launches her first solo video - so goodness knows what comments we'll get!! But if you can do me a favour and look out for it, a friendly comment would be kind. Cheers
@@OldCarsNewVan The silent generation were and are a different breed as well as baby boomers. They know what hardship and sense of duty is all about. Todays generation most of them don't know what real hardship is like, they know what debt is because they spend without thinking can they afford it and credit is too easy these days. This country is such a mess now .
@@OldCarsNewVanNo worries. Will it be the same channel name or a different one? Can't imagine they will be any problem. The nay Sayers aren't worth giving a second thought or even your time.
@TipTopMotors. On this channel - she wants to get more involved. Cheers
Only 42 views ... it seems like RUclips is screwed. But this is happening to my videos in 2024 very often which feels quite frustrating. Wondering if something changed with my content to 2023 that I didn't notice. Or if it is just RUclips that screws up. What a nice Fairlady at the start - loving the decals on it. Cool to get greated by someone at the entrance you already know. Still lots of space when you arrived. But I'd do it the same way. Usually such bigger shows can be very populated shortly before the official start. What a lovely Marina Coupe. The 2nd generation of the MR2 is looking very nice - but also still a modern design which always make me think it's a Mk3. Filming the cars on their move is also very interesting. I like both styles - walking around or also the moving cars. A mix of both is perhabs also interesting. What a cool XJ-S. Oh and the lovely Mondeo was probably a Cossie. The Subaru Impreza wagon is one of the odd designs for a wagon - I prefer the look of the saloon. The "Hawkeye" Impreza must be from 2005 to 2007. Looking like an WRX STi which is a very stunning car - these have a lot of power. So the rear end might look ugly but the car will overtake every 200 hp saloon in full throttle with ease (I experienced it once with my Peugeot 406 3.0 V6 and I was wondering if something on my car is broken but I noticed my car did accelerate as usual but the Subaru WRX STi is a real beast of a car) Great spot at the entrance. So filming them when they arrive and waiting until there are more and then looking back to the rear ends. Lovely Aston Martin. I read that this particular model did use tail lights from the Mazda 323F (the first one with the frog eyes). Great to see your Sunny again. It's in such a good condition and although it may not win the price as beauty but it is such a rarity and as we can see it gets so much into some talks.
Yeah re the number of views - it can be a bit disheartening because as you know a lot of time, effort and indeed money goes in to making videos. But then you get the odd one which does really well and it encourages you to carry on. We all feel it - was chatting to Glyn about it too. This was a massive show and I have 7 parts - I might spread them out as I also find if I'm showing them in order with no breaks each part gets less and less views!!
@@OldCarsNewVan I will definately watch it. Even if I miss a video then from time to time I also check the profile page to check if there's maybe something I didn't notice in the subscriptions. The bell seems to don't work anymore about my subscriptions.
Cheers. Next Saturday Maia launches her first solo video so bit dreading what comments we'll get. If you can look out for it a friendly comment would be much appreciated
@@OldCarsNewVan I am looking forward to it.
I just noticed I haven't watched this video - I didn't notice it in my subscriptions. Interesting to the see history of vehicles your Dad owned. Nice MG Midget - I am still asking myself how such old cars from the pre-50s are driving. These looked so much different to the later cars. The Commer Cob Van is very cool. I guess if a van is overall cheaper then I'd probably also do it this way. These car-derivated vans are very cool - I can remember I always wanted a Ford Escort Express - very best with a mattress in the back, hehe. It sounds like the old cars were even rusting quicker than a Mercedes from the 00s. Hehe so there's the small Mike in 1971 and so his love about cars started. I like the Cortina. The Allegro is looking attractive to me but when hearing what happened to it then I understand why it was nicknamed the Aggro. Chrysler Alpine - these were sold in Germany by the wonderful and easy to remember (NOT!) name of Simca 1307. But I can remember the design - I found them very nice looking back in my childhood. Nowadays I still like to see one but I can't remember when I've actually seen the last one. The whitish bumpers were a bit odd on the car. I can understand when your Dad did paint them black on the white one. Back then the rubber bumpers were usually black for other brands. Interesting to hear the Austin Princess was his favorite car. I never had the chance to sit in or drive one. But I heard once before that these Princesses have been comfortable. Very nice to see all three cars of the family on one picture. Audi 80 is really a good car - I never had too big issues with mine and I own it for 10 years, now (not a daily driver). The Vauxhall Carlton was also a nice looking car back then - had also a very modern design. The Omega is a car the Dad of a fellow owned. Very comfortable car. Really not many cars in 96 years. I also had more than that 😀 Definately a great memory and I must say your Dad got really old. I don't think that I am getting this old. But you never can tell. Still my condolences for the loss.
Cheers Sven - yes, a lifetime in cars!! But less than I've had in some single years 🤣Yes, Dad did very well - 96 years of age - a different era. He went to sea in the Merchant Navy at 16 years of age in 1944!!!! Imagine that - 16!! A different generation
@@OldCarsNewVan Haha, you had even more cars than I, haha. Oh yes, really a different generation back then. When I was 16 I was just trying a job training but was deciding to better go back to school to get at least a GCSE. I can't imagine to serve the navy at this age. I was for sure a greenhorn until the middle of my 20s.
@@BFDdrives me too Sven - no way could I have coped at 16 with his life experience
Good looking chap at the entrance :-)
😆😆😆
I do like to see the cars coming in and out of a show because you get to hear the different engine sounds and reminisce about the old days.
Hi - yes, I agree. I think moving cars and sounds are more interesting. Thanks for watching
Well I have to say the new format's a winner with me, looking really good Mike and it seems this is a show that attracts many interesting and rare cars too 👍
Thanks Mel - really appreciate the feedback and the support 🥰
Hard to choose ... so I'd just take them both
It has a BMW K1200 motorbike twin cam cylinder head on an A series engine block
Thanks for the info - cool!
Excellent tribute. Condolences for your loss.
Thank you
😍😍😍
Beautiful car😊
The Ford Fairmont is really looking great. I can remember to have seen it back in the early 00s when I was once for vacation in Australia. Never seen these Dodge Vans Also I've never seen a Lancia Appia Lovely Ford Taunus GXL. Loving the Sierra as well - this first series is my favorite. Citroen AX is also super rare, now. These have been so popular back in the days - especially the Diesel with the super duper low fuel consumption. The Montego is looking amazing in white with the red highlights I can still remember the Mazda 929 ... wow, haven't seen one for decades. The Ford Granada was also super popular back in the old days. My grand uncle Siegfried had an Opel Ascona in the colour like the Cavalier. Nissan (Cherry) Europe - it's really a rarity. In my youth I've seen it usually as Alfa Romeo Arna. I can't remember to have seen this one as a Nissan although Nissan was quite popular back then. I'm thinking back then Nissan did sell the Sunny instead of the Cherry over here. Or perhabs people did just go for the Sunny instead. I can remember about the time when I was also checking for all old fotos to create a slide show for the channel as content. And nowadays I have so many videos because of recording so much, haha. When my shoulder is better (I can move it a little bit more, now - no more wearing the orthesis during the day since this week (first few days were still awful but it is getting better with every day - but the arm has no strength and outer rotation is also still impossible). So it may still take a while. But when I am better then I can also try to show some diecast model cars during the dark season. Have a great evening Mike & Maia!
Thanks Sven - sorry we've been quiet but with the funeral and everything we're way behind on our RUclips viewing. Glad to hear your getting better - have a wonderful festive holiday and look forward to sharing our adventures in 2025. Mike & Maia
@@OldCarsNewVan No worries, it's fully understandable. Take your time and gain back the power of your batteries. Wishing you both also a wonderful Christmas!
Great memories. As this is my first time watching one of your videos, so I don't know if your already aware, but I went on Gov.Uk and checked out your dad's old cars to see if any have survived. The grey then silver Vauxhalls are still about, the grey one is on sorn only while the silver one is still taxed and MOT'd. I wish I could say the same for some of my dads cars!! Both of our father's vehicle histories are fairly similar. My dad was riding motorcycles long before he passed his bike test. My granddad brought a motorbike but having only ever ridden cyclemasters he wasn't entirely confident, but due to "grandfather rights" he could ride a motorbike without needing a test. My dad, who still hadn't passed a test so provisional only, rode pillion behind my granddad to teach him!!!! When my dad had passed his test he had motorbikes in the 50's and early 60"s. He then had a morris minor lowlight then a Ford Consul mk2 before I was born. Then the first of his cars I remember, a green ford cortina mk1 estate, then mk3 Cortina 2000E (I loved that one) then he had the later version of the Alpine that your dad had which was now badged as a Talbot. Then a SD1 Rover (unfortunately it had a fairly gutless 2 litre engine, not the V8!!) Then a Austin montego, a brand new Ford Sierra mk2 XR4x4 2.0 (We both loved that car) followed by another new car a silver Citroën Picasso, a 3 door Fiat which he had for less than a year as he hated it then his last car a new Hyundai i10 which he gave to my son when he stopped driving. We lost him in 2022. RIP to both of our dad's.
Thank you so much for watching and sharing your memories - sounds a great collection that your dad had in his lifetime. You should make a video!! Yes, RIP to both our dads
All luxury goods, including cars, attracted Purchase Tax from 1947 onnwards. Between 1953 and its abolition (or rather transition into VAT) in 1973, Purchase Tax was levied at 50% but vans were exempt. For this reason, many people, like your father, bought small vans rather than cars (some people then installed side windows in the back and a bench seat, essentially creating a countryman ot traveller car).
Well yes, I can see the attraction to avoid 50%!!
Wow! Never seen a split screen Minor as immaculate as that, thanks for sharing
A real beautiful example - part of the Great British Car Journey Museum collection, in Ambergate, Derbyshire, UK. Thanks for watching
My condolences to you, sir. I think we can see even from this video it was a happy childhood for you and you had great folks growing up. I notice that, Audi aside, your Dad's purchases were mostly patriotic. I like that and the Omega was a fine vehicle to see him out. A life well-lived. God Bless and best from Ireland.
Thanks for the kind comments - appreciate it. My Grandfather on my Dad's side came over from Ireland - County Cork - so kindest regards to you in Ireland
I would have thought he owned quite a few cars actually! I am 40 and so far only owned two cars so far!!
Fair - yes, it's me that's the oddity, especially when I was younger - I would buy a car, keep it a few weeks, and sell - there's some videos on here about it!! I must be well over 100 so far which is clearly daft 🤣
@@OldCarsNewVan Wow! Must check the video out lol
What a lovely tribute to your father. My father was also not a car person and in his 40 your career only had 4 cars. He had the last one for 25 years. Then when he went on pension he got his final car, a W123 Mercedes. Me on the other hand,... I love cars😂
Thanks - appreciate the kind comments. Yes, wife & I are really in to our cars - 3 classics on this channel
Nice tribute and great memories.
Thanks - appreciate it
Great video. Brought back some memories! If you're talking shockers, my old man bought a Moskvitch 412 some time in the mid-70's. Viewed it in the dark, paid cash and the following day realised just what he'd done! Oh dear!
wow - that's a rare, left field choice. Yes, can imagine the buyers' remorse!!
Hi mate. Commenting from Australia. First of all, a really nice video for your dad. My heart goes out to you. You will always miss him, though the pain of the loss will ease. Just a side note. That last Opel Omega, Holden in Australia heavily reengineered that platform which became the VT Commodore. Sold here with a 3.8 litre Buick V6. Just Google VT Commodore, and you will see the resemblance, especially around the glass house and doors. The front and rear were completely redesigned. Take care mate!
Cheers for the kind comments mate - appreciate it. Interesting re the Commodore - bet that went well with that engine!
Great Video!
Cheers
Which garage supplied the second Mondeo new? KH was a Hull registration
Oh - I'm not sure - as it was a company car it was sorted by Head Office so I guess they had a preferred supplying dealer. I wasn't living / working in Hull
@OldCarsNewVan Fair enough I just wondered as I live on the edge of Hull, it was probably Sanderson Ford as they were the main dealer for Hull at the time but could have been Beverley Ford or Richardsons
The reason the wheels could fall off the Allegros was mechanics thinking the wheelbearings were the same as the previous 1100/1300 range except they weren't, so they weren't tightened properly
That's it - I knew it was something to do with over tightening
My condolences on your loss
Thank you - appreciate it
Vans were taxed as goods/farmers which was cheaper than equivalent car.
Thanks for confirming - thought it was something like that
Vans escaped Purchase Tax, the forerunner of VAT, which on cars seems to have been as high as 50% in the post war period. This gave rise to the phenomenon of vans being bought, and then windows and seats being put in the rear.
thanks - have a vague memory of my Dad saying one of his friends fitted windows and seats to his van - sounds like many were at it!
40 mph limit on them though.
@@GWAYGWAY1 that's not so good!
A life defined in cars is such a beautiful tribute. You don't need an exotic to anchor a devotion for the next generation. Not sure he wasn't a closet petrol head..maybe? Sympathy for your recent loss.
Thanks for the kind comments - appreciate it
Neither my father nor my mother ever owned a car or any other motor vehicle. They went everywhere by foot, bike or bus. On holidays we took trains or coaches
What's your point?
You need to speak to Steve Waddingham (chief historian at Aston Martin). He is allegro mad.
A lovely tribute to your dad, I thought the cars were interesting, my grandad had a black Audi 80 which was the same generation as your dad's, I've been a fan of classic cars for a couple of years now 🙂
Thanks for the kind comment - yes, really in to classic cars on this channel
How touching and poignant is this moving tribute to your dad, although you are actually pretty brave to share something so personal with so many swine out in the wild, i for one won't betray your trust, in those of us who still consider ourselves among the decent people of the world.
Thanks my friend - appreciate the kind comments
I don't consider the cars that someone owned to be that personal.
@David M As this is a car channel, the only Tribute I was going to put on here was going to be about cars. I do regard it as personal.
A lovely tribute and some surprising vehicles! I particularly like his first ever car, wish I could have that now! ❤❤
Wish I could have his first car too!!
A very interesting tribute Mike and i was interested to see he was born in 1928. It doesn't matter how old someone is even if they have had a long life it doesn't make the loss of a dear one any easier. He was also lucky in that he was able to go to university and had the foresight to do so to make the best life he could for all around him. ,very few ordinary people were in a position to do that. What did he study? Just curious. You mentioned trips to the South of France, you were very fortunate to have experienced this at such an early age. Foreign travel in the 60's very early 70's wasn't something most brits could afford in those day. It wasn't until about 1974 that Spanish holidays took off in a big way . Don't know if you recall the song Y Viva Espana by Sylvia. It was the mood of that very time. The early Midget what a marvellous thing to have and although i was never really a big fan of the Princess they were terrible rust buckets i see it was a late 2200hls the one to have. I can understand why he would have liked it the hydrolastic suspension gives a good ride and the plush interiors made them really rather nice when new. I may not have been a big fan then but i do find then interesting to see now and quite like them. The allegro looked like a sport version the wheel trims give it away. The Omega as you say were quite a nice car I enjoyed the video Mike and found it very interesting.
Cheers Glyn - yes, quite a life!! He was 16 in 1944 when he joined the North Atlantic Convoys. 10 years at sea before University which is how he could afford to go as he came from an ordinary background - his Dad was a bus driver in Cardiff. He read English. Dad always had a good job so we were very fortunate.
@@OldCarsNewVan Even more exceptional the fact he made it from an ordinary background he was forward thinking and not ordinary.
Nice video. Came for the Sm, my dream car and truly enjoyed seeing a Cx, too. Stayed for the nice presentation. I do like me a British car as well. Thank you!
Ah, cheers - thanks, appreciate the kind comment
