Wow, that’s wild! Not bought as an investment I’m sure, but that’s played out well.

In short, I’ve always preferred the shape of the Exige. Admittedly when the A/C broke it was quite uncomfortable(!) but now it’s working again it’s the best of both worlds. It is possible to fit the Elise roof to my car too, which is an option, but they’re quite expensive and look a little odd with the roof scoop aperture exposed at the rear.

The S2 wasn’t a logical purchase for me (guess it isn’t for most!) it was my dream car for a long time, so I’d do the same again. The S3 is very cool though, if I got the S3 I’d want the V6 Exige which might just scrape into that budget.

​@@BritishRacingGreensI know what you mean, logic sense says the S3. But I just think the S2 is cooler in a couple of ways. I'm probably about 2 years away from affording one. I've watched most of your videos, but going to watch again so I cover any hidden things to think about. I've had 40+ old cars, but never a Lotus. I'm hoping (Imagining) they are like go karts for the road. That's what I'm after as my current car is fast (Tesla) which is just missing that engagement and handling. Hoping the S2 brings the fun. Do you find the power enough for fast overtakes?

That’s very true! 🧢 the main blocker is not having the soft top roof to be fair, I do check the second hand market every now and then but they hold their value so well. Embarrassingly we didn’t make it to the islands (only around them), we’d tried to book a dinner there but it was fully booked. Next time…

A benefit (mostly true) of the exige is that it’s cheaper to run than cars like the R8, simple things like tyres will be a lot larger and more expensive with the R8. I imagine the same is true if things start going wrong with the R8 too. The exige definitely delivers a sense of occasion, the cost of that is less comfort and practicality.

That would make a lot more sense, but it’s definitely the headlight switch that’s doing it, because it does it even if we’re just driving down the road in the middle of the day and I switch them on. Can only imagine it’s related to the back-lighting for the dashboard dials?

😂 I must admit, I was impressed myself! There were 4 bottles behind the seats which helped, still space in the passenger footwell which we didn’t need, could probably reach the import limit if we tried harder.

@@BritishRacingGreens Since Brexit DVLA no longer pass driver details back so if a camera flashes you will no longer get fined. If the police catch you with a radar gun.....thats a different matter!

Thanks for your tips, we did buzz past the viewpoint you suggested near Mont d'Or, amazing views around there. We were so tight on time that day that we had to take a relatively direct route, but fortunately it was pretty much on plan.

...also reassuring to hear that I'm not the only one that's had that issue with the key!

Ha, indeed! Although they’re quite fiddly to clean.

These were actually on the same corner and then the same stretch of (straighter) road, it’s just that they were about 3 days apart. It was quite hard to find somewhere near London that is pitch black so I used the same spot.

@@BritishRacingGreens Sorry. I wasn’t more clear. Did you ever take a picture of the corner with your factory lighting before the install of your two LED’s? That was the “before” I meant prior to your LED install and comparison I was asking about. To get a true difference between factory lighting and the LED lighting.

We totally agree about Orta, we booked last year because we were too late to book Como and Orta was a bit cheaper, but we loved it so didn’t even consider at Como this year (although I’m sure it’s very nice too). I have considered buying a soft top for it for these kinda trips, but they’re so expensive I’ve just stuck with the hardtop - also my head will burn so quickly 😂

@@BritishRacingGreens Indeed the Lotus community is amazing! Ah yeah I totally get that, 9h of Lotus is already a lot in one day even when you like the car! If you want to take a drink, or have a short city center tour with no mention of Lotus, I'm free also :) Can also be done when you're on your way back home if you come back here!

@@BritishRacingGreens Oh also when you're near the French/Swiss border, you can make a stop at the "Mont d'Or" point of view near Metabief to see a cool view into Switzerland and at the "Lac de Saint Point" to stretch your legs. Also there is the the "Dent de Vaulion" near the "Lac de Joux" with some breathtaking views of the lake (maybe you're already going there, the blue line that shows your route is a bit wide ahah) Or even more South you have the "Col de la Faucille" with an amazing view above the "Lac Léman" and the "Mont Blanc". Aim for Gex and go up, and then either go to Mijoux to then see the "Lac de Vouglans" and then go the "Belvédère des 4 lacs", or go to Les Rousses to go straight to the "Belvédère". In Martigny CH, you have the Fondation Pierre Granada with amazing art and car collection. And in Sion cool castles to see.

The freshness has held up well to be fair, no lingering smells a few days on. I retimed those panels in the roof last night too, they were bugging me in that video! I’ll warn you, that whole job is a bit of a faff. Worth it, eventually.

@@BritishRacingGreenscheaper too…. My Exige mats were £320 after import tax. Yeah roof liner looks great, I’m of the mind I will pay someone else to do the work for me tbh.

@samwilde595 wow, big coin for mats! That’s a good idea on the roof lining, turns into quite a big job quite quickly. Worth getting them to do those other panels on the roof too so it all matches. Made more difference than I expected.

As you might have seen in more recent videos, this fix ended up failing. The issue with the headlining is that the foam breaks down so simply re-sticking as I did will only ever be temporary. I have all the gear to sort properly so may do this weekend, I’ll update shortly on the materials I use.

Any reference I make is with a sense of relief and admiration, they defo know what they’re doing!

@@BritishRacingGreens Yes that too. I have a 111R and touch wood, pretty much no issues. Oil lines split, but Lotus fixed and paid for everything. Engine seems solid so far.

It was a real surprise! You’re right though, lucky no damage was done.
