Great video. A few things as a fellow Exige owner: correct, before purchase it was not clear the roof could be removed, but after ownership realized it had to be able to be removed to accommodate working on the interior - how else to easily install/replace seats, that would be a nightmare without the roof on; my impression is that Lotus did not advertise it as such or recommend removal because removal of the roof would seriously degrade the aerodynamic performance of a car they engineered for increased downforce/top end relative to the Elise as well as the ability of the intercooler for SC ones; and finally, those attachment points on yours for the soft top were added by a previous owner, which is common - they are not factory.

Great points, thanks for sharing. Maybe I should buy a soft top as an alternative option.

There is a quicker way to take the roof off the Exige. What I do with mine is to just loosen the three torx screws on the front cover panel but don't detach it, I then loosen the back corner clamps until they can flip out of the connecting slots and then just lift it off from the rear which allows the front corner pins to just slip out. It's a lot quicker and you end up with less loose pieces to deal with. To replace the roof just clip the front back in ( a bit of downward pressure helps to locate the pins) and then flip the corner clamps back into position and tighten down. That’s a great suggestion, thanks! I’ll give this a go next time, like you say there would be fewer parts knocking around. Love to hear from Lotus owners in different parts of the world, thanks for your support 🙌🏻

Love taking the roof the Elise on days when it's super hot, but I enjoy the car more with the roof on with that feeling of being cocooned in it. Might have to try top off at the next track day though.

Having the roof off is still a real novelty for me, a totally different experience

They’ve only just opened up the bookings again at Hethel, they’re now in the Emira rather than Elise/Exige which is a bit disappointing but I plan on doing it later this year anyway, I want to learn how to drive it properly. Hope you’re doing well 👍🏻

Hi. Not sure how true, but a few years back there was a rumour about it affecting warranty or insurance.. probably a load of bollox, just read a thread on it and there is mixed opinions.

How odd. That confusion could be why you so rarely see them without a roof. That and the fact there’s nowhere to put it…!
