Hi Moog, I absolutely 100% recommend fitting a cold air intake to this. Whatever you are imagining the difference is going to be vs. the standard airbox, triple it. The induction noise on these Toyota 2ZZ engines is incredible. It will be loud. The switch from low to high cam lobe at 6000~RPM is accentuated, and the supercharger noise becomes almost obnoxious. You also stand to pick up a small handful of HP unlike with some other cars, because the standard Toyota airbox is quite restrictive.
I have a video on my channel of a European Toyota Corolla T-Sport with a cold air intake doing an acceleration run (I believe it was the first car these engines found their way into in about 2001) - No supercharger, but you get an idea of the noise available. And then remember this noise is going to be coming from right behind your left ear! 😎

Yeah those accents were really scrambling my brain. I think they've lived in Aus for a while.
I'm from Norfolk / Suffolk myself and have always thought my accent is closer to an Aussie accent than most Brits. I've even been mistaken for an Aussie once, and it was a running joke that a friend of mine, from Essex, had an Aussie accent. We were living in Middlesbrough at the time, the locals thought she sounded Australian, honestly I can kind of see where they were coming from, she didn't have that stereotypical Essex / East London accent, I'm guessing she was from deeper inside Essex, maybe closer to Suffolk.

5:30 Header tanks go bang - can confirm. Had them break on my Elise this summer. Watch out for the indicators falling out - I think it might be linked to a fit-and-finish issue of the clam, but my Elise is popping them out at a shocking rate, and the plastic clips holding them in (at least stock) will always fail, being in proximity of the radiator, and being regularly thermo-cycled.

Can't wait to see this thing on the track! So awesome that you could get a crew of Lotus mechanics to have a look at it too

I own a mid engined RWD British sports car with big front brakes, double wishbone suspension, side scoops, manual gearbox and a removable hardtop roof too! It's called an MGF Trophy.
Trust me, all the issues are never fixed on a British sports car. New ones are just introduced that will only surface when you need the car the most. It will always make you smile when it's working though!

I was lucky enough to have bought a Lotus 340r back in the days when they weren’t so expensive. It was bloody amazing!! Only 190bhp but mine was less then 700kgs.
REALLY looking forward to this set of videos from you.
